ARCHIVED "slight Case Of Celiac" Update
Live2BWell replied to ohsotired's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
You slice of bread comment reminded me of my GI doctor; The day he ordered my celiac pannel I had told him I hadn't eaten gluten in a couple of weeks, I asked him if I'd have to eat gluten before I tested and he said to eat a slice of bread a day over the course of a few days and then get the test done at a lab near me. I was shocked, I wasn't willing to... -
I am new to being gluten free, and I've certainly had bouts of eating gluten accidentally. Although I haven't been able to pin-point where the accidental glutening happened, I have been able to tell due to the reaction. If I have a reaction it has occured within the same day - and the rash on my arm gets significantly worse (and it is just starting to clear...

So much has gone on over the last several weeks. I've been busy, tired, and overwhelmed. Um, did I mentioned TIRED ?! I really need to work on the whole sleep thing. I notice that when I take my sleep meds (prescribed) that I feel better the next day. I do not ache as bad, I have more energy also. Sometimes, though, I do not take my sleep meds...

It was suggested to me to have a Cortisol Test run (Cortisol is an Adrenal hormone); Apparently it's not a routine test, but it can be requested - and that is often how doctors test for adrenal problems (adrenal fatigue, addison's etc.) Adrenal problems, from what I understand, run hand in hand with Celiac and, interestingly enough - Hashimotos (I am guessing...

ARCHIVED Tony Chachere
Live2BWell posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Are Tony Chachere's rice mixes and seasonings gluten free? They were already closed when I tried calling, and I couldn't find the info anywhere on their website. Tonight we're planning on having the Tony Chachere's Creole Dirty Rice Dinner Mix, but I wanted to make sure it's ok ... Anyone know? p.s. here's the ingredients Enriched parboiled... -
I think I've been accidentally glutened. I've been really sick today - sick like I used to get sick. Actually I had a horrible headache last night, like debilitating (i had to lay down in the dark and my TMJ has been really bad as well.) Today I've been in the bathroom several times, and having a lot of stomach pain. I have a bit of a headache but not like...

Live2BWell replied to Live2BWell's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
veggienft, thanks for the explination! Wow, you guys understand this very well! To me, it sounds like a foreign language, but you helped translate, so thanks happygirl, Hi Happygirl... I had four biopsies during a Colonoscopy, that came back with several abnormalities but nothing conclusive one way or another. I have not had an endoscopy, and as of... -
ARCHIVED Diagnosis
Live2BWell replied to Live2BWell's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Thanks for the info, ShayFL .. So what are the TTG tests? And why would those come out negative and the others come out positive? -
I actually was strictly gluten free for over a week when I had the tests done (I know, not reccomended, but it just happened that way.) Two of the four tests on my Celiac pannel came back elevated, despite being gluten free. My doctor said my results are indicative of Celiac (and I am officially gluten free now). However, I don't understand what the tests...

ARCHIVED Celiac Pannel
Live2BWell replied to Live2BWell's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Jenny (AZ via TX), Thanks Jenny! I too am very grateful I found this forum when I did. Although, I've been sick for a long time now, and Celiac is the last of the diagnoses. In a way I wish I would have found this forum sooner, because maybe I would have started getting better sooner than I have, but... there's a reason why things happen the way they do... -
ARCHIVED Celiac Pannel
Live2BWell replied to Live2BWell's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hey Guys, thanks for the replies. TrillumHunter, thanks for the support. I am glad that I was able to ease into it, before I found out my results, because I was prepared (somewhat) so that helped atleast a little bit.. It's a lot to wrap my brain around though. Kitt1027, (( Hugs )) I so hear you! Hang in there, I know what a futile process it... -
ARCHIVED Hashimoto Thyroiditis
Live2BWell replied to MyMississippi's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I was diagnosed with Hashimotos (Autoimmune Thyroiditis) in March. It's been a long road, and things are just now starting to get better - I didn't have great luck with doctors, but luckily I see a doctor now that is good, and things are stabling out. I am on Synthroid, and yes it does make a difference and yes I do feel better. I just got my celiac pannel... -
ARCHIVED Celiac Pannel
Live2BWell posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I got my tests results back today. Two out of the three tests he ran, were positive and indicative of celiac Not exactly sure how I feel about that - I mean, I feel optimistic, because things can only get better from here, I hope! It's a very bittersweet diagnosis..... -
ARCHIVED Daycare Vs. Nanny
Live2BWell replied to jcnfc's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Hi ! I thought I'd add in my two cents. I used to work at a daycare, and have taught early childhood education in Montessori Schools. I have also been a nanny twice. I never had a kid who was Celiac, but I did have kids who were allergic to mix nuts, strawberries, etc. In the daycares/montessori school's, the cook's were always very careful about... -
ARCHIVED The Price Of A Mistake...
Live2BWell replied to jewlesD's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Wow ~ I am sorry you get so sick with mistakenly eating gluten. I get sick, which is bad enough, but I do not get nearly as sick as you, I couldn't imagine. I am glad that the ER got you on the up and up, hang in there (( Hugs )) -
So, today is day 15 of being Gluten-Free; Well, atleast it's 15 days since I went Gluten-Free. I suppose it was bound to happen but I was mistakenly Glutenated more than once (getting the hang of this is certainly not easy.) I was surprised that after having had the gluten-filled foods, some symptoms came back, and others didn't. Most noticibly was the...

ARCHIVED I Had My Food Allergy Testing Today
Live2BWell replied to Amyleigh0007's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
What type of allergy testing did you have done? I heard skin-prick type testing wasn't as reliable as the Lame Advertisement. But, I am glad that you got a Dx, hope you feel better going gluten free -
ARCHIVED Quick, Easy, & Tasty Recipes?
Live2BWell posted a topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I'm the only gluten-free person in my home, and if ever there is more than just me eating gluten free, it's only two of us. I have been Gluten Free for only 10 days now, and I am finding that meal planning is essential to being successfully gluten free (and not caught in a bind!) I am realizing more and more that the "swing by the store to pick something... -

Live2BWell replied to Live2BWell's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
No I have never heard of that place. I live in a suburb of Houston. On my side of town the norm stores are Kroger, H.E.B., Randalls, Food Town, Super Wal-Mart, & Super Target. On the other side of town there is Central Market, Whole Foods, and a Belden's.
