  1. I like the idea of telling people it's like rat posion and genetic. A lot of people treat allergies lightly, which sucks for people who can't. Thanks for the tips
  2. The list is available at the following site using a web browser: Open Original Shared Link Or the list is available in a Word Document: Open Original Shared Link If you can't figure out what this is saying feel free to email me at: laura@bridgeclothing.com WARNING as of Aug 16 we believe everything on this list to be gluten free but please be sure...
  3. I know what I'm doing is right but I get sick of people trying to "understand" how I feel. I have explained things to those I think need to know but when I don't tell others they are hurt when they discover that I have celiac disease and didn't mention it. I was just curious on what you guys were telling different people. I always find myself launching...
  4. Surprisingly enough that is true, now everyone just needs to move to California so we can hang out together. Have a junk food night
  5. I get what you guys are saying. I've been doing this for upwards toward a year now and I don't blurt it out every time someone offers me a cookie. However; when I am forced into explaining people always give me looks like I'm making it up. Or they tell me how hard it is and that they couldn't imagine having to live that way. I was just interested in how...
  6. Food Is Yummy! When I'm being good I avoid milk products but all of these below are definitely gluten-free. Breakfast: - Puffins Cereal - Arrowhead Mills Sweetened Rice Flakes - General Mills Kix Cereal - Erewhon Crispy Brown Rice - Nature's Path Organic Corn Flakes - Health Valley Corn Crunch-Ems - Jennie-O Chicken Breakast Sausage (really yummy...
  7. Hi guys, I wanted to hear what you guys do meeting new people. How do you decide who to explain celiac disease to and who to just ignore. I'm always trying to decide if it is worth explaining to people and often end up with someone staring at me like I'm an alien or saying my most hated phrase, "That sounds really hard, I could never do that!" Like they...
  8. Are you trying to say something celiac3270?
  9. LOL, point taken celiac3270. It can just seem lonely out in the real world, it's not a common thing yet. Hopefully if we can continue to educate people about celiac disease it won't be so hard for people to understand. Maybe we can create a major food market for ourselves. We're making progress. I just have low days sometimes and I don't feel like anyone...
  10. Probably but traveling is such a pain at this point in the year. Once everyone starts school its like there is no longer anytime for anything. It's just a lot of work at a really busy time of life. Not to mention I won't even be here next year since I'll be gone to college, so even if I get it set up I'll be gone for three quaters of the year.
  11. I'm a clinical celiac. I went on the diet without a positive blood test or biopsy but my gastroenterologist supports me. He says that a clinical diagnosis is fine in this case, since celiac has such unusual symptoms. Why do you have to have a medical test to prove you're a celiac? I'm also 17 and have never met a celiac my age, so I would love to talk...
  12. Thanks Kristina. As far as I know there is no support group in my town but it is nice to read around on this website and see so many posts that I can agree with. Especially those referring to people's reactions and the constant explaining. It's nice to know that people understand, even if they are only on the computer.
  13. I agree with you. I don't mind the food stuff at all really other than having to talk to so many people when I go out to eat. Where I live there isn't a support group for anyone let alone teenagers. My mom and I have been talking about trying to start one up so we'll see.
  14. I keep hearing that everywhere but I never see anybody. I met one person that has the disease that is under 40 and that was last week. I just am tired of feeling alone. I live in a small town in California and for the size of it I know a lot of celiacs. Unfortunately, none of them are anywhere near my age. I just feel lonely.
  15. Hi, I'm 17 and a diagnosed celiac for 8 months. I'm a little starved for young celiac anybody. They only ones I know are in their forties. Anybody feel lonely?
  16. Hi, my name is Laura and I'm 17. I have been Celiac free for 7 months and have met only one other teenager with the disease. I was hoping to find some people who could empathize with me. Any takers?
