  1. As far as the Steps to Success program goes, part one I know is eliminating gluten from your diet. She goes over all things that have gluten in them, hidden gluten, etc...She gives you a huge 3 ring binder full of product listing and a folder full of other information. The first appointment is about an hour and a half. As far as the other 3 times that...
  2. I have been to the Kogan Celiac Center at St Barnabas. I went after my diagnosis for nutritional counseling. They also do screening. They are in a hospital, so I dont think that "anyone with money" just opened the center. The nutritionist that I saw was great. She also has Celiac which in my opinion was great. She understands about everything...
  3. After your positive biopsy and positive bloodwork, your dr says.....I dont really diagnose this too often because following a gluten free diet is hard..
  4. All of my pain is in my upper abdominal area. Almost under my rib cage. Most of the time it is on my left side under the ribcage, but sometimes its centered. I have never had D. I would have never guessed that I had Celiac disease. Now doing all the research that I have done and read the symptom list, I have had a lot of them, but I also have Hashimotos...
  5. Yeah, sure I will start a new thread about the nutritionist when I'm done seeing her.
  6. Wow, I'm jealous!!! I wish mine would get it! He slobs his gluteny sutff all over the place. I think my 16 yr old DSS is better than he is. He thinks the whole cross contamination thing is a joke. Needless to say, I'm still not feeling all that great. I try to keep things seperate. I have my own cabinet etc, but the rest of them (5 of us total in the...

    ARCHIVED Nyc Doctors

What do you mean by "an hour? yeah right next" The specialist I was seeing I was lucky if he spent 2 minutes with me and didn't answer any ?s I had at all. I have elevated pancreatic levels as well and I'm concerned that there might be somthing else going on with me besides celiac. So I was extremely happy that this guy took the time with me to go over...
  9. I would put the quote here, but I haven't figured that out yet but, I've see that list of celiac symptoms too, but a lot of those are also the same as the thyroid problem that I have, so I guess I just get a double whammy!! Not that I'm happy you had the same pain as me, but its good to know that I'm not the only one. I was worried it could...
  10. At the end of may I started having this pain under my rib cage on the left side. It got to the point that I ended up in the ER. They diagnosed me with pancreatitis since my amylase and lipase levels were elevated. The did xray, ultrasound and ct scan. All were normal. They told me to follow up with a GI within 2 days. When I went to see him he said...

    ARCHIVED Nyc Doctors

Not exactly NYC, but Fort Lee NJ, close enough. I saw Dr Meininger. He was wonderful. Spent over an hour with me. Explained every question that I had and didn't make me feel like I was taking up too much of his time. My last dr couldn't get out of the room fast enough. I felt extremely comfortable with him and he didn't leave me with unanswered questions...
  12. I understand. This whole thing has me very depressed as well. I'm hoping as I get the hang of it, it will be easier and I wont be so sad...or mad depending on the day.. I had an issue with Outback too. That has been the only place that I would go because the had a gluten-free menu. Well I ordered off the gluten-free menu and even talked to the waitress...
  13. I wish my house was all gluten free. I do have my own cabinet of food and my own cabinet of pots, pans etc. But they have their stuff throughout the rest of the kitchen. I have 2 little ones, 6 and 7 who just make a mess with everything. I tell them all the time to take their gluten smeared fingers away from me. I'm going to see a nutritionist next...
  14. If it makes you feel any better, I feel like a freak too. Its been about a month of gluten free for me and its not getting any easier for me. Just more frustrating. I wish I had something to say to help you, but I just feel your pain.....
