Ok, so I PROMISED everyone a Toll House Pie for Thanksgiving....my sister in law just reminded me TODAY. I've read that as long as you're not putting more than about a 1/2 cup of all purpose flour in something....you can substitute white rice flour. If it's more than a 1/2 cup, it seems to mess up the recipe. Ok, that said...the toll house pie recipe...

I keep trying to find a cream of chicken soup! It's driving me NUTS! I found a really yummy sounding "Thanksgiving Leftover's" recipe...but it calls for Cream of Chicken soup....hmmm....guess I'll have to think of a sufficient substitute. Oh, and in case you were wondering...the leftover recipe... Take your leftover mashed potatoes and spread them... -

I've never made it without the Kraft Garlic cheese...so I never knew ANY measurements.....I was going to just wing it....it probably would've tasted just AWFUL!!! Thanks... -

knitaddict replied to Hummingbird4's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Ok, so I'm AMAZINGLY STUPID: I googled grits casserole to find a gluten free recipe and there was an old post from THIS forum where someone mentioned it. They said, "PM me for the recipe." I CAN'T FIND IT....everytime I google it again, POOF, it's GONE! If ANYONE out there knows a garlic cheese grits casserole...let me know. Initially, I didn't... -
Ok, so I'm a Chinese food NUT. I seriously have to eat it about once a WEEK or at LEAST every 10 days, or I start throwing things. Now I normally get the sweet and sour chicken....and I HAVE found a recipe for gluten free tempura (traditionally, they used rice flour...NOT wheat flour...who knew!?!?!)....but this week, I simply was NOT ready to...

knitaddict replied to Hummingbird4's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
This is going to be my first holiday season gluten free, too! I'm pretty lucky...I've figured out that the ONLY thing that I'm going to have the change is the dressing. (I'll use gluten free cornbread.) That, and I just won't make rolls....or maybe I'll see if I can find a good recipe for gluten free rolls...we'll see. I'm just grateful that it's going... -

knitaddict replied to NicoleAJ's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Oh no! I never even THOUGHT about Communion! Ugh--something ELSE to worry about! I don't suppose it would suffice if I just took the blood of Christ, would it?? Ugh---why does gluten have to be in EVERYTHING?!?!?! -
Ok, so my hubs is ADDICTED to those soy based marinades for our steaks. So I got online a minute ago to check a few of them out...see if there are ANY that are gluten free. I came upon "Moore's Marinade" and "Allegro Marinade" BOTH of whom CLAIM to be gluten free. So when I read their list of ingredients, BAM...first ingredient on BOTH of them "Soy sauce...

ARCHIVED Celiac Mama/autistic Daughter
knitaddict posted a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Ok, so the title probably says it all, but I'll tell it again anyway: I've PROBABLY got celiac...they really couldn't tell from the biopsies....came back "undetermined" and the bloodwork only showed SLIGHT elevations...anywho, in the interest of NOT having diarrhea for the REST of my life, I've opted to go gluten free. So far, it's been about 3 days and... -
