  1. Not sure if I can help you but my almost 3 yr old has been gluten free for 1 year now and she is still fuzzy, whiny, cries a lot, does not sleep well, and to top it off she is tube fed because she stopped eating and drinking..... I asked the dr about removing and going totally gluten free in my household and he told me there was no need that she is not...
  2. Hi and welcome. I had an almost 2 yr old at the time stop eating and drinking totally. She had no symptoms of Celiac and it does not run in either family. She ended up in 2 hospital for FTT but no one ever did a BMI on her that I know of - just that her weight was off the charts. While in the hospital looking for things they did blood work for tons of...
  3. My daughter stopped eating and drinking when she was almost 2 and no one could figure out why till after 2 extended hospital stays they did a biopcie and found she has celiacs disease. She had no classic symptoms but was always had "rabbit turds" as we called them and did not sleep good. We would not have know if we did not do the biopcie and no one even...
  4. My almost 3 yr old gets sick all the time. The only reason we avoid hospitals and dehydration is that she is on a feeding tube due to her failure to thrive....... We wonder the same thing and was told to start looking into a probiodic to supplement her antibodics she is constantly on...... Bonnie
  5. My daughter had the biopcie doen at 22 months as we had no clue what was wrong with her and they had done blood work which was negative. The did the endoscopy and biopcie to look to see if her acid reflux was causing her problems and then we waited to see as it did not appear to be the problem. The test did ake about 5 days to come back and that was the...
  6. Hi and welcome - just part of my sotry. My almost 2 year old jsut decided to stop eating and drinking and was down to 18 lbs. After 2 hospital stays her GI dr who we used for acid reflux decided to do an endoscopy and says she has celiac's disease. She has no symptoms except not sleeping through the night, clingy, whiny...... At that point they decided...
  7. Patty Thanks - she is 26 lbs which puts her under the 10th percentile as compared to her heright which is 37"..... WE did talk about looking for a natural way of helping her and we just might do that. We also talked about taking her to a better hospital but just do not want to put her through all these tests again. Her GI dr gets me so frustrated...
  8. Hi I jsut wanted to let you know that I am in the same boat. Even after 1 year of gluten free she is still like this BUT she has a lot of behavior issues that did not get better being gluten free so not sure. I did read that children often do this and after a while of being gluten free they get better. I do lock the bathroom door so I have a moment...
  9. My daughter was diagnosed celiac only after a biopcie at almost 2....... no one knew what was wrong with her and she stopped eating and drinking totally...... She is a very bright child and had no symptoms of this at all so I would try to get in right away as all her blodd tests said she did not have it and go straight for the biopcie and you could take...
  10. Thanks all --- no he did not give us a time frame but said we would wait to see what the test shows first and then decide..... I am glad that at least somebody heard of this before I agree to it... Bon
  11. Hi No advice as you really have to follow your heart - we had no idea what was wrong with our then almsot 2 year old she just stopped eating and drinking anything. 13. Patty - she has had so many tests, CF sweat test, MRI of the brain for tumors, 3 endoscopies, swallow study as she gags all the time, blood work, food allergy tests, delayed stomach emptying test - you are right it is so hard but as a parent and as my OT said it is so hard when you do not have any kind of official diagnosis........... how much does your...

  15. Hi my almost 3 yr old has been gluten free since May 08 and she is still not gaining weight and she is on a feeding tube. I am concerned for her and no one has been able to find anything else wrong with her. She was diagnosed when she had not been eating anything for a month or more and ended up in the hospital for 1 month trying to figure out what was...
  16. Hi I just wanted to tell you that I think it does as my almost 3 year old went gluten free about 1 year ago and she had never slept through the night. She now does much better and only wakes occassionally. She still does not sleep as long as my 5 year old but that is ok with me. She has a lot of other issues as well so I am not sure if her sleep is...
  17. Hi I just wanted you to know that blood work can have false negative and your child could still have celiac disease. 19. My daughter at 22 months just stopped eating and drinking all together. She had never been the best eater and was in the 5th percentile but had always been on the small side. She had no symptoms of celiac's disease at all abut she did have a severe ear infection at the time. She ended up going down to 17 lbs and ended up with a feeding tube to keep her...
  20. Hi I feel like I am reading my own story. My daughter was 23 months old and all of a sudden decided to stop eating and drinking all together. She went down to 18 lbs.... She ended up in 2 children's hospitals before the ony thing they could come up with is Celiac Disease - they did a biopsy and she had early warning stages but blood work said negative...
