    ARCHIVED Fast Food

I've eaten Wendy's chili and fries. I almost always order a salad when I go out to eat. I live in Canada, I don't know you guys have Lone Star up there, but I can actually eat fajitas!! I eat there all the time!
  2. Tracy, I haven't a problem with them, I also haven't had a problem with thier hash browns. I live in Ontario.
  3. twinmom Before I found out that I had Celiac, I had terrible constipation!! I had been hospitalized for it the whole nine yards!! Only months before my diagnosis I started getting diarrhea!! Don't think that severe constipation can't be a symptom it is!!!!
  4. I don't have heart pounding, but I feel the pulse in my neck increase for no good reason that lasts a few minutes during this time I feel light headed and shaky! I don't wanna go to the doctor's for it, I'm only 22 and I feel like I'm falling apart!!

    ARCHIVED Vitiligo

Thanks Alison for the site. See my patches have a border like that but are on my back and are darker! It's wierd. Seeking wholeness That makes so much sense about the vitamin deficiencies, I have plenty that could be a reason!! I want to go buy that book now!!! I just wish I knew what it was!!
  6. Kris, I too have been severely anemic, my blood count was once at 1!!! I was trying to give blood in high school and I ended up in an amblulance and at the hospital. As for the biospy, I'm not gonna lie it's not pleasant but it's worth it. When I first found out I have Celiac I looked at the gluten free food and nearly had a heart attack at the prices...
  7. I agree with KathyB and kvogt, there is no reason that we should think that gluten is the most indistructable particle on the earth. I've never had my own set of dishes of pots or pans and I've been fine. I do agree with KathyB on the separate toaster and butter etc due to the fact that visible crumbs can be easily transferred. In fact I read that cast...
  8. How old is he?? Try pizza pockets or those mini pizza bagels!! Good Luck!!
  9. Chelsea I has diagnosed when I was 15 (I am now 22) I went through a very long denial period for about 2 years. It started with "no I can eat whatever I wany, how bad can it be" to "ok it can get pretty bad, but if I eat a little it won't hurt me" that phase lasted awhile untill I realized that it wasn't worth the pain. Don't worry your not alone!! ...

    ARCHIVED Vitiligo

I have patches on my back and legs but they are not white. They are like a shade darker than my skin color. I've been to the dermatologist and he has no idea what it is. Does it itch you or anything?? Can you send me a site link so I can see a picture of it?? Thanks
  11. Kathleen, It seems like your doing everything right. I've been to the dermatologist about this discoloration on my back, it's not itchy or anything. He took a biopsy of it and it said nothing. He is totally baffled, he even invitited me to go to convention of dermatologists so his collegues could take a look. I said "no thanks" I'm tired of being a specimen...
  12. sweetneet First of all whatever pain you are in know that it is not in your head. I am so tired of hearing that since I have been told that all of my life. I have a diagnosed celiac for 7 years and let me tell you, I can relate to alot that has been said. All the things you have been through I have been there and back. I have never been blood tested...
  13. Jacque I've been of the antidepressants as well. I find I only get depressed in the winter I think it's the lack of sun. I can't even understand why I get depressed, but I figure hey with all the crap I have to deal with I'm entitled to get down right b%$@#y once in awhile. I hate being dependant on meds so I'll do anything to help me through it.
  14. Newbie It could very well be that your intestine is in so much distress that it is causing this pain. Not everyone's body reacts the same to the ingestion of gluten. I've personally never had this pain you've described however if your really worried about it talk to you G.I about it. Hope you find what's going on!!
  15. Lori Just thought I'd let ya know that I too was on antidepressants and after 2 years gluten free I am no longer on them. I was also taking folic acid for anemia and had a thyroid condition, although maybe not the same as yours I am no longer in need of either med. I hope you are as fortunate as I have been. Wish you the best!
  16. I second that statement. I think this layout is alot easier to navigate and more enjoyable to be on.
  17. Susan I think most capsules are not gluten free. As far as I've read, capsules use like a gelatin base that contains gluten. I always still to tablets, preferably uncoated at that. Let me know if you find out different.
  18. tgcatmr If you are in doubt about the rootbeer and you like Barq's call the company. As for sour cream, I think the main issue in sour cream is the food starch because they can make it from either corn or wheat. So again the best bet would be to call the company or email the company you normally use. Hope that helps!!
  19. Lisa I can been confronted with this problem since I've been diagnosed. I just make sure that all my gluten free stuff is set apart from the stuff that contains gluten. Putting it in a air tight sealed container will help. Make sure you wipe down all surfaces before you put your food on it. It's good idea to keep your own margarine to eliminate bread crumbs...
  20. Steve I can totally sympathize. I love Coke too, at least give it a shot for awhile to see if you feel better. I'm ok with 7 up or Sprite. I think it's the colouring especially caramel color. Think about it, what's Pepsi even suppose to taste like? All other soda is made to imitate a flavor found in nature, but Pepsi?? If it's it own flavor probably not...
  21. spinorita Just thought I'd let you know that my family and friends don't get my depression either and you know what!? That's ok, because I don't even get it. My boyfriend cannot understand how I can go from hot to cold, but even if he doesn't understand it he'll be there for me. Which is the most important thing. That's why I LOVE this site, not only are...
  22. Kathleen, I sure sounds like DH to me. You know something, get an appointment with a dermatalogist before your appt with the dr in NYC. You can't go until April like this. However until then, what laundry detergent do you use? I'm from Canada and I use Sunlight, it's very mild. Watch the shampoo and conditioner you used as you have some bumps in your...
  23. Don, Well from my experience I don't feel the same as before I was diagnosed. In my opinion though this is the way everybody else feels. Before we all were diagnosed we were sick, unhealthy people. I don't think the way we are now differs from what people without Celiac feel like. So I guess in that sense I feel more "normal" now. As for the preoccupation...
  24. Steve, Eliminate the Pespis. I found that drinking Coke or Pepsi gave me the runs too. Other than that, everything sounds ok. It is possible sometimes that it takes your body a while to adjust and since you are so used to being sick after you eat for example your body goes through the motions without good reason for it. Do you get the same pain with your...
  25. Yep you can use Bragg's it's just no very good. Try the San J it's very good but surprise it's expensive. I also just found a light soya sauce that we can have. Although I can't remember the name.
