  1. just to throw a spanner in the works i was convinced i had coeliac as my dd does, i have the gene/s for it and have a list of symptoms as long as your arm. i expected my dr to laugh at me but she didn't and i had the gastroscopy & biopsy... to find nothing. i don't have it at all. not that it excuses at all your dr's attitude. but please do be prepared...
  2. Hi Lisa, was it you who posted on EB today? lol small world
  3. before my 2yo was diagnosed she had a little sore in the corner of her mouth (on the outside) that had been there for months. (the dr had told me it was normal and not to worry about it). hasn't been seen since she went gluten-free. i get my dx today but i almost always have a mouthful of sore spots they aren't ulcers as even my dentist couldn't see...
  4. honestly i wouldn't feel at all bad about 'putting him through it' - at 2 they recover so quickly and then you'll have a definitive answer. my dd was 21 mo when she had hers, she was amazing the way she went through it - certainly much easier than me!! i was able to be with her when she went under (though couldn't due to my own issues). i was there...
  5. you all need to plan your next vacation to australia hehehehehe
  6. ridiculous! mind you i do think i have IBS lol (or is it possible for celiac disease symptoms to be flared by stress?) but if i can find another cause to get rid of some / most of my problems i will be very happy!
  7. i'm waiting on my results (friday i will know). i know it seems funny but i'm desperately hoping that it is celiac disease because i know a change of diet will clear up all these weird and horrible symptoms i have! i have gone gluten-free since my biopsy anyway i was diagnosed with IBS 8 years ago by just walking into a dr's office with pains in my tummy...
  8. i'm a bit like salax and a bit wary of it in general, however i think it would be BRILLIANT for travelling, especially when travelling overseas
  9. i totally understand. for me the forever bit was the hardest bit too. it's just not fair is it. still, our children are lucky to have been diagnosed now with it and not 20, 30, 50 years ago, they have so many choices now we are now 4 months down the track (my dd is now 3) and things are much brighter for us. you will get there (though i'm tossing...
  10. is it uncommon for your cafes & coffee shops to have gluten-free options? here in australia virtually every cafe or coffee shop you go into (particularly chains) will have 1 option such as a cookie or cake. it's rare to have more than 1-2 though. one chain only does "low gluten" in some of it's stores though
  11. actually he loves salad sandwiches but there's only so much lettuce on one of those lol
  12. yeah that's his favourite too - peanut butter and honey sandwiches. and i totally understand the trying to make up for the malabsorption thing, my 2yo ate like a horse before being diagnosed, and yet was losing weight, despite eating more than me! the 5yo turned out to be constipated the other day which gave me some relief until i remembered that could...
  13. i dont under stand what you mean by the gene test before the celiac panel? we had blood tests done first, then the gene test (which sorry, but that is what the dr referred to it as) and now i'm talking about having the blood tests done again. by celiac panel do you mean the blood tests or something different? oh and we did what the dr suggested. it's not...
  14. background - dec 08 my 2yo dd (dd2) was diagnosed with celiac disease via biopsy. at that time we all had the blood tests which came back negative. in february 09 my 5yo started complaining of tummy pain (he eats a LOT of gluten, often eating 8-10 slices of bread a day plus pasta, crackers etc. he is a typical bottomless pit ) took him to the dr thinking...
  15. the ones available in australia are gluten-free and my dd's breakfast every day
