    ARCHIVED Da Nile

Sort of a rant. Yesterday, my daughter asked me if I wanted to go out to lunch. Her treat! You bet!We were going to a small restaurant that has a gluten-free menu, but, when we got there, they were closed. I really wanted to go (weathers been rotten, havent gotten out much), so we decided to try another similar restaurant. I asked the young waitress if...

  3. When going through the testing for celiac, my doc informed me that I had chronic pancreatitus. I was pretty shocked. especially because I have no symtoms. He also said that I was full of gallstones and I had never had that before. But the pancreatitus thing is scary. Would you tell me your experiences with any thing pancreatic? Also would like to know...

    ARCHIVED Pain.

have you had your pancreas looked at? Years ago, I had a bout with acute pancreatitus and you describe similar pain (pain in the upper stomach that radiates to the back- intense pain). I could not even swallow water, much less keep it down. Treatment was several days of strong painkillers and IV feeding and hydration, followed by a gradual return to liquid...

  7. I may have come off in my last post as being too together about this situation. although I have been gluten free since Jan 1, and my symptoms are much less, they are still there. Yesterday, I had to run through a large and crowded grocery store to get to the bathroom fast. (Has any one noticed that gluten bms are more insistant?) I also had major gas...
  8. Im really bad n the moning, so once a week, I make a 3-egg omelet loaded with veges ( peppers, red and green, mushrooms, onions, broccoli or cauliflower, ect- anything I have on hand). Then I nuke a third of it in the am and eat it with a small piece of gluten-free cinnomom tst. I also pre-fry enough cornmeal mush to last for three days, then, in the am...
  9. The type 11 diabetes diagnosis was made through several fasting and non-fasting bg tests. Im not sure what an OGTT is. I think Bernsteins book was one I got. Will check out the websight.
  10. Thanks. Maybe I should impress on them more of the seriousness of the situation.
  11. Thanks for your comments. Am thinking about having another sonigram after about 6 months of being gluten-free just to see if theres any improvement in other organs. But first I have to stay gluten-free!
  12. I probably had problems before, but this is when my life became so impacted. Late summer of 2007-I was 61 and "retired" (never did work much, but hate the word housewife)! Had put in a big garden and was loking forward to havest time, when my doc diagnosed me with type II diabetes. Well, I put my head in the sand on that one- baught the monitor, but never...
  13. ive been reading the forums for awhile, but just decided to join in. I had a negative blood test and a negative biopsy but feel so much better gluten free that Ive decided to ignore all that and go gluten-free. Ive been sick for a year and a half- gone from 110 lbs. to 84 lbs at my low point. Been gluten-free since Oct. 31 ( except for some major glutenings...
