  1. Thank you very much.
  2. This may be an obscure brand but my roommate bought Ducktrap Smoked Salmon by Kendall Brooks and I'm wondering if it is gluten free. Nothing on their website mentions anything about gluten. I'm worried about the spices and the smoke flavoring. Has anyone tried this brand of salmon, or know if it is gluten free? Additionally, what's the general consensus about...
  3. Legal Seafoods was great. Garlic shrimp and brown rice was gluten free and also had gluten-free DF sorbet. Their menu carefully states all of the practices they follow to avoid cross contamination. I was still nervous but it turned out fine. One of my best gluten free dining experiences. There is one in Chinatown.
  4. I came back home to Arizona from college and discovered an EXCELLENT new restaurant called True Foods! It is on 24th St. and Camelback at the Biltmore Shopping Center. Dr. Andrew Weil of the University of Arizona worked to ensure that everything is organic and follows his "anti-inflammatory diet." I would estimate that a third of the menu items are gluten...
  5. Hi, it's Mariela. I could not get to send you a message, an error comes up. I am 30 now and I have no further problems with my teeth after being Gluten-free, even though if I start eating gluten, I would get more "holes", dentists have told me they are not cavities and if you hygienize well, they do not become cavities either. I have some Neurological problems but I am not sure whether they

  6. Just got this promising response from Barbara's Bakery (which makes Puffins), although I don't know that I'd feel safe trying even their gluten-free varieties if not made on dedicated equipment, Also, has anyone tried the Honey Rice Puffins she mentions below as having all gluten-free ingredients, or is the consensus to stay away from all Puffins as they...
  7. That is not to say, Taweavmo, that you were buying the kind with barley malt! Just something for everyone to be aware of. There are many valid reasons why the Chex may be giving your daughter trouble. Best of luck trying to figure it out, and hopefully she'll be able to tolerate Chex- it's nice to be able to eat something so mainstream.
  8. Just to voice my experience: I have tried the Rice Chex and Honey Nut Rice Chex, both of which clearly stated Gluten-Free on the box. I consider myself extremely sensitive and I have been fine with both. We should all be careful to avoid the old boxes of Rice Chex which contain barley malt as they phase those out.
  9. I am gluten and casein free. Soy bothers me, but nowhere near as much as gluten and casein. It only causes stomach upset, rather than the brain fog and more systemic reactions I get from the other two. I seem to tolerate soy lecithin and soybean oil (which I am told do not contain the protein found in soy). It would be nice if my soy intolerance was temporary...
  10. That's the exact answer I was looking for. I will try wine again. Thank you.
  11. I really like Redbridge because it feels so normal to drink a beer, and hard alcohol is a lot harder on my stomach (non gluten-related). I am very interested to hear that no one seems to have ever had a problem with wine. A few months ago I read that many wines (especially European, but some American) are stored in flour-coated barrels. I believe one person...
  12. I should also note that while I do not consider myself 100 percent recovered, I do consider myself 90 percent recovered. I have days where I feel amazed that people were feeling this good the whole time I was sick! I cannot believe I can have so much energy and be so free of anxiety and stomach pain. I keep feeling better and better. The fact that I still...
  13. Anthony: I feel the same way and I was even more discouraged at first to note that only a few people responded that they do feel completely recovered. But it is these few people that I am going to listen to because they have clearly figured out how to stick to the diet completely (which can definitely take a few years) and they can attest that they feel...
  14. My hands swell so much sometimes that it is hard to hold a pen and write. My feet and face swell as well. Though I have been gluten free for eight years, I have only become completely vigilant about gluten in the last five months, with a number of slip ups. I have also only recently cut out dairy and soy temporarily. My other symptoms have gotten better,...
  15. I tried the Nearly Normal chocolate chip cookies and they were delicious. The best gluten free chocolate chip cookies I have had so far, and definitely worth the price. I plan on trying more of her products in the near future.
