  1. My mom had positive blood test results right off, and recently had a clearly positive biopsy. My sister tested negative in the blood test, but they did a biopsy since she was having stomach ulcers, and also found damage to the villi. My father passed away some years ago, so we don't know it he had it, but two of his siblings also have celiac. my mom's...
  2. That is really interesting, especially that your B12 (and i'm guessing iron as well) levels could look normal on blood tests but not be absorbed by your body properly anyway. I did have low iron once several years ago, must have been about 17 or 18, and have been taking supplements regularly or occasionally since. I can tell when I don't have enough iron...
  3. So it's not normal! I often feel like food is "passing straight through me" as soon as I'm done eating, and get stomach upset and cramps. If I don't get diharrea, I feel like I'm going to, and it often takes a good dose of ginger (my best friend) to make me feel better. It's not always after i've eaten gluten, but food with too much garlic or onions, possible...
  4. Did you (or anyone else) have dizzy/vertigo spells before they were diagnosed with celiac? In the past couple years I have had a few incidents of mild constant vertigo and a couple serious dizzy spells, though they seem to be caused by sudden elevations of humidity, heat and air pressure. I spent nearly a month feeling dizzy while I was in Japan during the...
  5. Hello, My mother and sister were both recently diagnosed with Celiac Disease, and despite my negative blood test, I'm not ruling out the possibility that I could have it/develop it as well. I've been doing a lot of reading on symptoms and there are a few I'd love some more information on: 1. Tooth enamel discolouration/defects: A lot of the symptoms...
  6. thank you so much for the prompt reply. I don't actually know where my mother got this (obviously misuderstood) information, but I thought I'd at least put it out there. we don't know if my father actually had the disease or gene, as he passed away several years ago, but it does obviously run in his family. I am still quite young (25) and don't have...
  7. Hello all, In the past few years, cases of celiac have been cropping up all through my family, on both my mother and father's sides. First was my aunt, who only found out after being diagnoses with Thyroid cancer (which was likely caused by her having undiagnosed celiac). An aunt and uncle on my father's side also found out they have it. My mother and...
