1. I learned that the medical card was most effective at the hospital only - EMS are in a hurry and don't have time to read stuff - they look a the bracelet/necklace and that's it. The bracelet is what talks FOR the person if they cannot talk themselves. The communication on it has to be concise with as few letters as possible. "Celiac" might be all you need...
2. I've been trying to find other possibilities of what's wrong on the system, and truthfully, I haven't found many other options of what this could be. The biopsy was positive. I want to ask the doc more about this. . .was it positive for inflammation only? Was it positive for damaged villi? What actually did the biopsy show? I've only found a few...
3. PS. I understand about the attitude. . .if you don't partake in communion, then the Lord is blocking you for something you did, if you do take it and get sick, then they wonder what you did to get there. . . sigh. . . I'm reminded of Jesus healing the man who was blind from birth. . .but then again, he healed the lepers too. . .seems He has infinitely...
4. I found this: http://www.benedictinesisters.org/bread/low_gluten.php - 100% accepted by the Catholic Church. I'm going to an Episcopalian Church right now, since I don't have a Catholic church accesible to me. But I thought this was pretty wonderful that they would figure this...
5. Good evening UnhappyC - I've been meaning to ask you, does your university/college have a department that helps students with disabilities? My husband works for the university where I live and has mentioned many times about the department solely designed for students with disabilites to integrate into their school schedules/life easily and effectively...
6. I think the pharmaceutical companies should package it into samples to give to our docs - to push on us. . . when we're first diagnosed. **nods** Yep, I do. I think that would redeem them from their many sins. **snickers**
7. Hey, I'd love to see the look on her face whe she sees BIGHT GREEN all over her house!! LOL. . .now, wouldn't THAT be poetic justice?! Maybe someone in some lab some where will read this and see how bad something like this is needed and actually figure out how to do it and get rich.
8. I'm frustrated. I bought gluten free corn bread mix. . .made gluten free corn bread - and got glutted. I hurt. **Grrrr.** Last year they diagnosed me with a form of dystrophy - put me on all sorts of drugs, steroids - did all sorts of medical procedures. . .just to finally figure out I was misdiagnosed AGAIN. This year. . . grief, I'm getting to...
9. Yeah, I think that's one of the reason's I stay away from the rotation grinders, they tend to 'roast' the food product some. Do you grind popcorn for corn meal? I never thought of that! **grins** Where do you buy your grains from?
10. I'd like to try almond flour, I love the taste of almonds! I do a lot of baking - so I wanted something that could make at least two cups of flour quickly without much effort on my part, so this suits my needs perfectly. I'm glad to know that the smaller grinders work as well - that's a good travel idea!
11. Oops!! Forgot to answer your question! Sorry about that! Yes, it does a great job in grinding beans!
12. I **used** to buy the nice multigrains that have the double wrapper for about $3. I bought a rice loaf yesterday - it is half the size of a full loaf of a multigrain, and it's cost was nearly double. And the rice was the cheapest loaf there!! I am in the process of looking for grains - I found a few places on the net that sell in bulk. Once I go through...
13. I wanted something that would do at least two cups at a time. But I think, I'll take your idea and get one for back up in case I need to travel or something.
14. No, the grain mills run from inexpensive to way expensive. We live in an antique house with an antique kitchen - and there just isn't any room for a grain mill. So, I was looking for something that is compact, very functional and can sit on something instead of attach to something (the only place I can put one is on the microwave - we have a very small...
15. Wow. . .I found in talking to people that using the word 'disease' instead of 'allergy' helps a lot. Let us know how things go, eh?
16. I wish, with every every everything I have that there were a product that you could spray on cooking utensils and it will turn a bright color if there is gluten on it. You know, like they do on CSI when they search for blood. **deeep sigh** I do not like how the only way an object can be tested to make sure it's absolutely gluten free is to...
17. If you WANT the endoscopy and biopsy, don't be afraid to talk to the hospital administration office and your doctor and see if they can do it for free or much reduced. Many hospitals, especially faith based and non profit HAVE to give free services to a certain amount of patients each year in order to maintain their non profit status. Payment arrangements...
18. Hi, Bosque, My first thought is 'you mean.. . NOOOW?' Currently I work for a software company - part time. It's a new job - I've asked what my current job title is. . .but no one seems to know. . .heh. . gopher, maybe? **laughing** I work at home two days a week and work in the office three, and pretty much can write my own hours - yeah, it fits...
19. I went shopping for gluten free products - wow. . .what a sticker shock!! Ouch!! (Has anyone mentioned to anyone out there in gluten-free land that we're in a recession/beginnings of a depression and deflation is the mode of the day, not inflation??!) There are some products I will probably buy and keep buying, but my flours? Unless I want a specialty flour...
20. Good morning, wilem008! I'm new to this thing - but I've been round and round with my stomach for about 40 years . . .so I'm going to suggest a few things that has finally brought me to the point of diagnosis. If I don't like 'anything' about a doc, I find a new one. This might be a lot easier said than done in Australia. I know England has a different...
21. I'm tired. If I could go to bed right now, I would in a heartbeat. Sigh. I'll be glad when the fatigue begins to lift. My brain has too much energy for my body to be in slow-mo. I picked up a grinder today. . .actually two, because I don't know which one will work better. One will have to go back. . . or not. . . if I can talk my husband into...
22. **Slurp** **Drool** I'll never look at rice cakes the same way again!! I'm putting them on my grocery list now!
23. I'm glad you're in a place where you can vent. . .sounds like you need a good yell and scream moment!! I'm frustrated today too. . .actually - there's a lot of mixed emotions - I'm thankful they finally have some idea what's going on. . .but I keep getting myself gluted. . .yick. Being in college has to be tough with this thing. . . I can't say I know...
