ARCHIVED **vent** My Loving Supportive Family. Grrrr.
quietmorning01 replied to quietmorning01's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I agree with you about (heh, everything, actually) giving the information and just letting them make up their own minds of what they want to do with it. I printed off an informational packet for each of the kids, and just handed it to them, told them that they now had the info and could do what they chose to about it - and left it. The minute I gave it... -
Hi, finlayson - any time you suffer a loss - there is grief, any time there is grief, there HAS to be anger or you will not be able to move into acceptance. It is a process and your mind knows exactly how to work through the process if you will let it. This is a huge change. . .we relate to food in such a personal way. . .it was our security as an...

ARCHIVED Masa By Quaker
quietmorning01 replied to KarenFe's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hi, Karen, I have found that Quaker mixes their grain vats or whatever they are called. I had their grits the other day and got gluted with the first bite. I was running to the bathroom five minutes later and was in horrible stomach cramp pain. It was my first meal of the day - and after that almost the only meal it made me so sick. I was fine for... -

ARCHIVED **vent** My Loving Supportive Family. Grrrr.
quietmorning01 posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Yesterday I dealt with my kids - trying to inform them of something that they need to be tested for is like pulling teeth. Last night I found out my youngest son thinks I'm a 'whack job' and a hypochondriac because it's 'always something'. Well those always somethings are things the docs shove off on me, not things I go seeking. I've been misdiagnosed... -
ARCHIVED Grinding Your Own
quietmorning01 replied to quietmorning01's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
You know, I didn't even think to comapre with a professionally milled flour - I'll get a bag of rice flour and get a recipe and compare each. It may take me a few days, but it beats the heck out of you spending the money on the coffee mill and finding that it doesn't suit your needs. I'll try to do this before the new week is out. This would make... -

Hi, Ellen, I know well about the Alpha - what I mean by this is that she tests her boundaries often - she never gets away with anything, though. I'm the pack leader. When a dog licks an owner in the mouth, that's a submission stance stating that the dog KNOWS the pack leader is boss. If this is denied an alpha will begin to reassert the alpha stance... -
ARCHIVED Lump In Your Throat Or.........
quietmorning01 replied to GlutenGuy36's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Since you've been diagnosed with hypothyroidism, you may want to ask your doc about getting a sonogram of your throat to see if you've got nodules in the thyroid. If they are growing inward, they will feel like you've got a lump in your throat. They found two in mine, both stable - not growing - but now that they know they are there, they can keep an eye... -
ARCHIVED Kinda Of A Rant....kind Of A Question....
quietmorning01 replied to Gen's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Some doc's send the lab work to me through the mail. All of my current doctors do except one - I've requested that this one start doing this routinely. I think the reason they overlook things is because of their limited time and focus on looking for something specific. I've caught several things through out the year, bring it to their attention in... -

I wasn't serious at all when I said that - **chuckles** I know that birdseed isn't meant for human consumption. I guess I should start putting a j/k next to when I'm so totally NOT serious! ewwwwww!! Yuck!! LOL. . .heh. . I guess they have extra protein in them for the birdies, huh? *chuckles** I do want to get a list going of tried and true... -
ARCHIVED Crohns Patient New To Celiac
quietmorning01 replied to redspot321's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
My father has Crohns disease, and when I told him that I had a positive biopsy for Celiac, he said, "yeah, I.m not 'supposed' to eat wheat, either." **chuckles** He didn't say anything more, so I have no idea whether he is also Celiac or what that actually meant. . .knowing my dad, I SERIOUSLY doubt he's changed his diet on iota! Getting health / illness... -

ARCHIVED Any German Shepherd Owners?
quietmorning01 replied to TrillumHunter's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
PS - looking for a reputable breeder: GSD breeders very rarely give a guarentee against hip dyspasia due to the overbreeding - or they may word the guarantee so that it isn't really effective. The xrays aren't usable for breeding before the second year. Most guarantees will only be in the first year. You want to stay AWAY from contracts that require shared... -
ARCHIVED Any German Shepherd Owners?
quietmorning01 replied to TrillumHunter's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
My girl is named Jessie. She's an 'Old American' type - large and large boned. She's 85lbs and beautiful. I would not recommend her breeder, though. She nearly died of hook worm she was so infested when she was a puppy - no excuse for that at all. Grrrr. Her mother was a grand champion, her father was gorgeous, but we brought her home to get her out... -
We're back from seeing the kids. Youngest son thinks his mother is a 'whack job' because there's something wrong with her AGAIN. Actually. . .this is the only thing that's BEEN wrong. Get misdiagnosed too many times and it ruins any future reality of what's truly wrong. Sigh. And this is a whole heck of a lot easier to deal with that the...

Saturday morning. I have a long day ahead of me. I'm going back down to Chattanooga where my children are to spend some time with them. My daughter and her fiance are staying with my youngest son for the week. We are all supposed to go over to my daughter-in-law's (youngest son's wife) family for a cook out tonight. Heh. . .it's supposed to be raining...

ARCHIVED Primary Care Visit Yesterday.
quietmorning01 posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I saw my PC yesterday as a follow up for the 'bleeding duodenum ulcer" the GI doc said wasn't there. I told her that my upper GI biopsy came back positive, but the blood work came out negative. She said, "That doesn't mean anything, you can still have Celiac disease with negative blood work - have you cut out the gluten, and if so, what happened?" I told... -
ARCHIVED A Celiac Wish.

UPDATE: My husband and I are seriously talking about this. There are several people we are going to contact MONDAY to see if someone will take this as a project. My husband works for a university - and knows several. I know a 'few' people and organizations that might want to take this on. Wish us luck? -

**LAUGHING!!** I read this to my hsuband - he looked at me with THAT look and said, "well, we already know YOU'RE weird." HEH. It would me nice if the wheat industry would attach a 'marker' to it though!! -
Writing A Book And Looking For The Celiac Story!
quietmorning01 commented on hcg's blog entry in Colleen's blog
Hi, Colleen, I can so relate to what you've written above. I have a blog here, and I do try to keep up with it, and will continue to do so. At this point I am not confirmed as being Celiac - I see my doc Tuesday to talk to him more about it. I'm positive for the biopsy, negative for blood work. I've been misdiagnosed a million times and... -

**laughing** I bought a lotto ticket so's I can afford the patent!! Grief, inventing is expensive. I do think I'll do some research tho and maybe see if can push the idea along. . .if you can get litmus paper, you should be able to have a simple home test in the kitchen that can help clean things up. A mist spray would probably be the most functional, but... -
ARCHIVED I Am Recently Diagnosed
quietmorning01 replied to Anja's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I'm so glad I have time to actually READ this morning!! My husband and I have been talking about doing a food tolerance test for lactose, rice, corn, egg, gluten and fats - especially since my blood work came out negative. So far dinners cooked at home, no matter how simple they are - and gluten free, tend to really turn my stomach into a huge knot. Heh... -
