Thanks Richard...that's interesting to know. Gosh, I can't imagine anyone EATING gluten with this! If I so much as accidently ingest a crumb I'm sick for days.

    ARCHIVED Health Insurance

thanks for the insighted response. Actually celiac sprue is on the do not write list for three of this brokers companies. I already have insurance, about to renew or expire, in which the premium went up 300 a quarter. Since I had no official dx I'm hoping I can get around that, though blood work in my medical files will show I was tested for celiac. ...

    ARCHIVED Health Insurance

I wasn't sure where else to post this, under "doctor" seemed most appropriate. I have been shopping for health insurance recently, since my $600 quarterly premium just went up to $900. An agent I met with today, after meeting for an hour and reviewin my options, then asked..."what is it you have?" I told her and I'm on the "denial" list for coverage...
  5. The beer order arrived over a week ago. It's wonderful!!! I can't believe it!!!! I let my husband have a sip and he agreed that it just taste like plain old GOOD beer. (I told him if he wanted any more he'd have to pay me ) He keeps taunting me and saying I'll have it finished off before my birthday arrives in a week. I still have 16 left, no problem...
  6. Thinking along the same line as Kathleen, perhaps the candy had been in the vending machine for a while and gotten bacteria somehow...? just a thought. Every once in a while I get a reaction from something too and I have no idea where it came from. Yucky.
  7. Thanks, Jessica, that's good to know. I guess I thought if you have gluten intolerance you would automatically get DH if the skin were exposed to wheat. I've had skin problems, itchy eruptions my whole life prior to having the intestinal problems. One shouldn't assume.....thanks.
  8. Filititi--I've just GOTTA ask about that kitty in the pool pic you have....Is it real??? I just can't get over it!
  9. Thanks for sharing that link, it was interesting. It says he succumbed to celiac disease. I really don't understand how he died from it, unless he didn't stop eating gluten. Can we die from this?
  10. I ordered a case a few days ago and am anxiously awaiting it's arrival. The lady who took my order said this is the third batch they've made and that it keeps getting better. She said this batch isn't as sweet as the last. It was $35.00 a case plus $10.00 for shipping. My 40th birthday is coming up and it'll be wonderful to have some beer after NOT for...
  11. It may also get absorbed through the skin. Watch out for hair products as well.
  12. I was advised by 7UP that all of their sodas are gluten free--just check the label to be sure though.
  13. LaChoy is gluten free, I use it all the time. Also caramel color if made in the US is gluten-free.
  14. Personally, I would never risk my own health just to NOT offend or scare off a date. There is no way I'd take a chance eating out in a restaurant without the server being aware of my problem. Who knows what's going on behind those closed doors, and what might get touched prior to touching your meal, what might be in the salad dressings, marinades, etc....
