ARCHIVED Not Happy With Blood Test Results
SLB5757 replied to SLB5757's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I will try the Gluten-Free diet again, and try and be very strict - meaning basically only items I cook or get from our local health food store that specifically say Gluten-Free on them. I am a fats food girl, so that is where I go wrong alot of times. I work, take classes, and have a 4 and 10 year old. After 5:00 if I am in a rush I stop and get the kiddies... -
ARCHIVED Not Happy With Blood Test Results
SLB5757 replied to SLB5757's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Thanks for your response. I am just at my wits end after four years of this. I have always had tummy issues but they really got severe after my third child was born. I had a stillbirth, then my 10 year old daughter - and after my four year old was born I started having these symptoms. I had about 6 weeks if diah. and lost 10 lbs and was down to 92 lbs. That... -
ARCHIVED Not Happy With Blood Test Results

I am really beginning to think that I am going to end up dying and no one will have listened to me over the past four years when I tell them I have pain every day all day. My quality of life has went down so much in the last four years and I really do not even want to live this way. I of course go one because I have two beautiful children, but I do not think... -
So I got some answers this past Friday from my doctors office. I had 6 vials of bloodwork sent in for testing. They were to be testing for Celiac, and then doing follow-up IGE rasts for grain allergies since my skin tests were positive. I was told that I do not have Celiac, that I am allergic to all grains. I have asked that the paperwork be faxed so I...

I agree with Ravenwood. You need to check your make-up. I also know that at the end of a bottle of foundation (And I even use the 32.00 make-up counter foundation), I will start to break out more - probably because over teh course of a few months it starts to get oils from your finger into the bottle somehow. Maybe the make-up just breaks down a bit after... -
ARCHIVED Antibiotics Glutened Me...i Think
SLB5757 replied to AKcollegestudent's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
My friends mother is a nurse. Whenever my friend has to take an antibiotic she ALWAYS makes sure she is taking acidophilus since the antibiotics kill both the good and bad bacteria. I can tell you from experience that diarrhea is common with any antibiotic and it says usually in the patient instructions that you can even have the diarrhea up to a month... -
ARCHIVED Stomach Issues After Giving Birth
SLB5757 replied to ldesrocher's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I would go to your OBGYN and have it checked out. I am sure it is the last thing you want to do, but better be safe. The cramping is most likely your uterus shrinking back to it's normal size and is probably normal - but of course cysts and endometriosis cause some cramping as well. I will tell you that I have had three pregnancies. The first one... -
ARCHIVED Passing Blood Clots
SLB5757 replied to Coconutmilk's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My best friend has Ulcerative Colitis...started when she was 24. If you look it up it is common to flare or start in your 20's to 30's. She had a colonoscopy that confirmed it. She would have a little blood in her stool - but always the "urgency". That is one of the big indicators even if you do not produce alot - the urgency along with mucous or blood in... -
ARCHIVED Are These The Blood Test Results For Celiac?
SLB5757 replied to Bigtime's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I agree with Tiffany here, they look to have been testing you for inflammatory bowel diseases such as Chron's or Ulcerative Colitis. My good friend had similar symptoms - she was 24 when they began all of the testing and was told it was Ulcerative Colitis. Her boyfriend has Chron's. She had Diarreah almost every time she ate, and would occasionally have... -

Thank you both for your responses I have a little background on Celiac only because I have read and reread this site so many times. When I did the gluten free challenge for three months from about May through August, that is when I had testing done the first time - in my head I just feel like the negative results I got then were inaccurate. I am not... -
ARCHIVED Testing Today...
SLB5757 posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Ok ... so to start my story: About two months or so I ended a 3 month gluten free-trial. I was gluten free for three months and I will say that I was feeling much better. It still wasn't 100% though after 3 months soI seriously started doubting the diet and started consuming gluten again about a month or month and a half ago - regularly. I think the... -
ARCHIVED Pregnant Belly?
SLB5757 replied to sparrow's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Add me to the 5'1 - 95-105 group. Mine fluctuates depending 0on how near my monthly cycle I am. Anyways, always - and I repeat always end up with the "pregnant belly". It is very noticeable in slim people, and I oftentimes look like I have a basketball in my belly after eating. I notice if I have been glutened it starts higher up under my sternum and will... -
ARCHIVED Starbucks Via Ready Brew Singles
SLB5757 posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hello all! Just a quick question for the board this morning Does anyone know if the new Starbucks VIA Ready Brew singles are gluten-free? I know some instant coffee is not. The box says that it contains Arabic coffee - it does not list other ingredients. I tried a search of this website for Starbuck VIA but didn't have any luck. I though that since... -
ARCHIVED Are Quakes Mini Crisps Apple Cinnamon Gluten Free?
SLB5757 posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I had these last night because the label only listed "Soy" not Wheat as an ingredient. Nothing looked suspicious to me. This morning when I woke up my belly is huge and preggo looking again ;( I am sure the constipation is to follow as is the normal pattern for a glutening with me. It will be like 4/5 days of this belly and constipation if it is gluten... -
Hello Lindsay, I don't know how much hello this is to you now that you are post tourney - but my daughter who is 10 plays soccer and has been having knee issues as well. Most recently she dropped mid field almost as though her leg had given out on her - she hadn't been hit by a ball or anything. She reported having a random sharp pain and then just...

ARCHIVED Using Baby Wipes To Clean Surfaces And Hands
SLB5757 replied to NYCCeliacMom's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I agree - and understand where you are all coming from. I am the Purell/baby wipes queen - so I do all of that instinctively anyhow. I have Clorox wipes at my desk, and a spay cleaner even though my office cleaning team is wonderful. When Im out and about I always use hand sanitizer for the kids, or the babywipes/wetwipe packs. I thought of this post as I... -

SLB5757 replied to SLB5757's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thank you all for your suggestions and comments! I know any of the odd things that have been happening this week may or may not be related to the gluten challenge I did this weekend. I don't want to make something out of nothing, but am more "aware" of things now. Things I brushed off as a child and teen - I now feel like I have more answers for. I really... -

Gluten from slides or other kids germy hands?? If I have to be that careful about gluten I will never get better! I have two children in daycare/school/multiple activities and never worry about that issue. Wonder if I should be? -
ARCHIVED Constipation
SLB5757 replied to LisaaaNoel's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Add be to the "C" bunch. I used to have the "diah" after every meal and even four weeks in a row at the worst stage of things. After the four week bout of diah. about four years ago - it turned to constipation. I usually do not have too much of an issue as long as I make sure I am completely gluten free. If I have gluten - I will not go for 4 or 5 days... -

Wiping off gluten? Are you eating out alot and do not want your table to be contaminated? If you trust that the plate that they are using and the food to be gluten free - you can probably assume the table is safe as well if you do not see any visible crumbs - right? Do you have DH that you are concerned about where even touching gluten will cause blistering... -

SLB5757 replied to SLB5757's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Oh - definitely not what I have then. I do not remember my feet or hands tingling. Just the wierd sensitive to touch/pain. Maybe I did something without realizing it. -
I'll google those names/organizations now - THANKS MAMAW. My sons father actually lives in Gahanna - directy adjacent to Columbus, and I have to take him there every other weekend. That wouldn't even be out of my way if I scheduled things right. THANKS!!

This is a terribly sad story. I am 32 now, but struggled with these types of issues since the birth of my little guy (who is now 4). So I guess I was about 28 when it came to it's worst point. I had dropped 10 lbs. in a months time and was basically drinking ensure by the time I started feeling better. I didn't have any diagnosis, but my body almost self...

Hello!! I want to first say that I did another gluten challenge this weekend by having some Red Lobster biscuits (so hard to resist). I also had a cacon egg and cheese biscuit from McD's as well as a Jiffy bllueberry muffin - all on separate days this weekend. Crazy - yes, but I wanted to klnow for sure gluten is my issue seeing that the doctors in my...
