  1. I went for an acupuncture session after I had fries at some restaurant. The fries had been cooked in the same pan than falafel and maybe had some wheat starch too. I never thought I would be that sensitive but I got glutened. The worst part is that my expensive acupuncture session instead of helping me feeling better made me feel horrible. I was dizzy...
  2. I get muscle spasms too and mostly in the back. I used to wonder what it was when I was still eating gluten. My mom has a lot of spasm like that but she isn't excited to go for the test. I think I will end up paying the test for my whole family if I want them tested
  3. Thanks Ada. I will send you an email.
  4. Hi Lorka, Where are these two doctors located in Southern Ontario please? THanks. What's the wait time for the GI?

    ARCHIVED Enteroscopy Biopsy

Hi everyone, I quit gluten late September 2009 and had been glutened a few times since then. In the spring and summer 2009, after my blood test came "unconclusive" he didn't judge necessary to refer me to a GI. I didn't persist asking because I had symptoms that were indicating some allergy issues and got busy seeing allergists at that time that reassured...
  6. Absolutely. The first year is hard but guess what this message board and your support made it easier. I appreciate the responses to the many questions I had when I started the journey and was going all directions enquiring about lactose fructose gluten wheat allery candida and so many ohter things. I found guidance and understanding with people sharing their...
  7. Thank you! I feel like I cut years of age off me. I used to do the first steps of the day as an old lady when I was up in the mornings wondering if I didn't need a chiro and etc. Now, I just have to exercise a bit more
  8. Thank you! Here is some gluten-free cyber foods
  9. Thank you. I did eliminate all fruits and added sugar for about 1.5 months but I didn't eliminated all starches. I was having some brown rice, basmati and some multigrain breads. I don't know where people who eliminate all carbs get energy and I worry about having a diet made of two food groups only unless it is for a short time. I know people on the paleo...
  10. Yup! God willing, gluten free happy years are coming my way Well, I am trying with my family but my younger brother asked me what he would eat if he stopped having bread there are much less options where he is but we will see.
  11. Thank you! I am singing Gluten free is fun, gluten free is fun! Colette, tell me what you eat since you cannot have rice tapioca potatoes and dairy. It must be hard. Maybe I should eat less rice before I develop an intolerance to that too.
  12. Can you tell me if being gluten intolerant makes us more vulnerable to diabetes even if we aren't eating gluten? I never think of diabetes because most of the year I dont eat much sweet but once I find something I really like I can over eat for 2-3 day and I mean really over eat a lot of sugar. I always thought that it is not a problem because I am not...
  13. I agree with Reba you should have your tyroid checked. I have to have mine checked too because I am ofen hungry and not gaining weight with all the sweets I have been eating lately. I think if you are borderline and your thyroid is close to the hyper side, your metabolism burns food faster. A hyper working thyroid has the following symptoms: the big D, insomnia...
  14. Thanks Patti You're so right this website is great and at least here we are understood. Continued good health and great life to you too! I started working on my how to convince some members of my family to get tested and try the gluten free diet.
  15. Thanks. Toast with wine lol. I guess all other mistakes are allowed as long as it is gluten free. Maybe about time to have my cholesterol checked but I'll keep having french fries (home made!)and my coconut oil should take care of the cholesterol.
  16. Thank you! It is too bad I didn't celebrate for real...only a cyber party.
  17. with gluten-free pasta and fries, rice cake ice cream and gluten free drinks. Welcome and have something to eat...it is all 100% gluten-free! I decided to go gluten free for good last year on the same day. One year later, I am doing well on the diet and realized it is not the end of the world to go gluten free. I was a healthy eater and even a health...
  18. What a story! Now that a diagnostic is settled, you can only improve your health. Just stick to your diet and if Irland is like England where gluten free food is easily accessible, you're lucky. I went there this year and I was jealous. Do you have vitamins and minearal deficiencies? Maybe you should supplement more than before. Welcome to the message...
  19. My skin allergy testing didn't show any food wheat allergy and I don't know if barley was in the list but the Western diet doesn't have much barley so if I am allergic it should be to wheat. I have panic attacks though and I haven't had them for many years but they showed up in 2009 along with other issues. I am starting to think my anxiety attacks are not...
  20. I agree this is a strange disease just by checking the weird symptoms and their variety. For me, gluten must trigger panic attacks and that's how I explain my shortness of breath, palpitation and chest pain. I am also realizing I can drink coffee if I just stay away from gluten.
  21. You have a strong reaction to gluten here. May I ask if you are full celiac or if you are just gluten intolerant? I get shakiness and muscle weakness like your daughter but I hate the shortness of breath and palpitations. I have tested for wheat allergy and in total I had 4 skin test in about 10 years and 2 were from last year. One of the doctors explained...
  22. I have bloating but it is not as bad. I only realize it once it is gone and I dont see my belly anymore. Your family will get used to your medical condition with time. My relatives don't take me seriously either but I am used to that. I have been criticized for how I focus on my health and got no support when I was searching for what was wrong with me but...
  23. So you have GI symptoms and tiredness sleepiness. For me, my GI symptoms are more noticeable now after a year being gluten free. I have stomach cramps and about 3-4 BM. But these bother me less than shortness of breath, palpitations and mood shifts. Congratulations on your 3 first months being gluten free.
  24. These were the exact same symptoms I suffered from for years. I was told my anxiety was due to my difficulty to assimilate minerals like calcium and magnesium. Every time I had a cold, I ended up with spasmodic coughing which I found was very annoying at times like when I was in a quiet museum or library. I thought I inherited the anxiety from my mom who...
  25. It is interesting I must be the only one here who lost weight on the gluten free diet. Before starting the diet I was around 140lbs now I am about 127lbs and it is funny how when I met some old friends who knew me years ago they congratulated me for gaining some weight and I was like who gained weight? I used to be skinny most of my life and I dont...
