lol, um...i'm from iowa. I didn't know that wasn't a popular thing everywhere.... it is a rectangular donut with a hole at one end where they put cream filling in, then they frost it. kinda like a jelly filled donut but with cream and a different shape. I live in Missouri now, but the last one i ate was in iowa. Thanks for any help

So I'm Celiac and in the craving stage of pregnancy and who ever says that you don't crave glutened food is nuts. I have had the worst craving for a creme filled frosted longjohn. I tried to make one but failed. Has anyone been able to figure out how to make one, or (i cringe) a good enough one to think about buying? I'm about 6 months gluten free and...

ARCHIVED Your Favorite Throw-together Dinner
BRS-07 replied to miles2go's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Hey, Something fast that we do is use Chebe pizza mix to make calzones. The mix only takes about 5 minutes, three ingredients to mix, then we roll out the dough in two circles. We layer half of each circle with cheese, pepperon, peppers, pinnapple, leftover crumbled hamburger or anything else we are hungry for. Then we just place the other half of the... -
ARCHIVED Celiac And Vulvodynia And Vaginal Issues
BRS-07 replied to fiore's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
So I've been having similar burning problems starting about the time I found out I was celiac which was in April. I'm on my 5th doctor and she is a very stumped specialist who is trying to help, but can't figure out what is wrong. Are you guys saying that it is possible that this could be a reaction from a food that my body is now sensitive to? If so,... -
Can Lactose Intolerance turn into Casein? The cheese is definently a problem. I also got really really sick off of about a tablespoon of ranch dressing, which is almost all milk cause it is Newmans.

So after getting sick for awhile, my husband and I finally figured out it was a dairy problem. I started taking lactaid pills about three weeks ago and the sickness disappeared. However, since about 5 days ago, I've been getting dairy sick even with taking the lactaid pills. Do the pills just stop working after a few weeks? I can eat baked things like...

Thank you! I've been trying to find someone to contact but with no luck.

I have been having all sorts of problems since going gluten free and my doctors don't seem to even try to figure out what is going on. I have tested out about 10 different doctors in less than a year (been on diet 3 months) and can not find one that has any useful information. I've been going lightheaded for almost a year now, have seen 6 doctors about...

Thanks to all of you for replying to this. Just thought I'd let you know....I started watching my diet close and am 99.9% positive I have a lactose intolerance problem now. I stopped eating dairy and all my stomache problems and nausea went away completely. I went out and bought lactose intolerant pills and tried um yesterday with a huge glass of milk...

ARCHIVED Any Gluten In Kellogg's All Bran Drinks
BRS-07 replied to hermit41's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
So my mom just discovered these kelloggs drink mixes in pink lemonade flavor. I am wondering if anyone can help me with the ingredients list to see if they are ok for me to have. I am not experienced at the lable reading yet and have been having a lot of stomache and other problems recently so I would not be able to tell if the mix was bothering me if I... -
Thanks! I will try playing around more with my diet, adding in more of the nuts and things, and see if that helps. If nothing else it will be more healthy for me, but hopefully it will work.

Depends on what you mean by fat in my diet...I will occasionally eat ice cream, chocolate, taffy, chex....but not in huge amounts. What kind of fats are you talking?

Generally I eat a homemade muffin of some sort for breakfast with milk, a banana midmorning, lunch is some sort of meat or homemade taquito (corn torilla, meat and cheese), then a bowl of fruit midafternoon and then dinner is vegetable and meat normally. All of my vitamins are gluten free....I take vitamin D, beta carotine, vitamin E, a one a day multivitamin...

Thanks for all the replies. I haven't been feeling well for the past couple weeks, keep getting chills, stomache pains and nausea, so I was going through all of the dietary things that could be playing a role in how I was feeling. When I talked to the doctor a few weeks ago about getting ill he said that it was because I am on too many vitamins. He suggested...

I'm not sure if this should go here, but I was wondering how everyone incorporates the proper amount of fiber into their diets. It seems to me that even if I add flax meal or higher fiber flour to my baking, along with eating fruits and vegetables, that with each being only a couple g's of fiber it would be impossible to eat as much food as you would need...

ARCHIVED Thinking About Seeing A Psychologist..
BRS-07 replied to Gfresh404's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
So I don't know if this will help or not, but I got diagnosed about 2 months ago, am 23, and have recently thought about seeking some sort of psychologist or support group. The diagnosis for celiac hit me really hard and in the last two months I have had the worst immune system ever, to the point of being in the doctors office 1-3 times a week due to something... -
ARCHIVED Eye Troubles
BRS-07 replied to BRS-07's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I think I will go ahead and look for an opthamologist (sp?) instead of a dermatologist. I have had one bad experience with a dermatologist being of no help already, so anything to avoid waiting a month just for that again. As far as age goes, I just turned 23. My last eye doctor was surprised and said she had never met someone as young as me on restasis... -
ARCHIVED Eye Troubles
BRS-07 replied to BRS-07's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Thanks for all the replies. Blepharitis is what I was looking into also since I have no other syptoms for sjogrens. I called my doctor and he said he couldn't do anything and refered me to a dermatologist. Very Frustrating since this whole time he has told me that it was a side effect from being vitamin A deficient. I haven't made an appointment with... -
ARCHIVED Eye Troubles
BRS-07 replied to BRS-07's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Thanks for the information. Can eye troubles be the only symptom for Sjogren's, or does the dry mouth and swollen glands accompany the dry eyes? I'm asking cause my eyes seem to be the only thing bothering me, could I still have Sjogren's or would that mark it out? -
ARCHIVED Eye Troubles
BRS-07 replied to BRS-07's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
It's not that I'm looking for a label, cause I really don't want anything else to go along with celiac. I'm trying to pinpoint what could possibly be causing the breakout around my eyes. It has been getting worse, so I figure anything I can ask the doctor about to get to the bottom of this problem would be helpful. I'm not going to assume I have anything... -
ARCHIVED Eye Troubles
BRS-07 replied to BRS-07's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I don't really have inflammation. It's just chronic dry eyes and all around my eye seems to be really dry, scaley almost, itchy, and depending on the day it may burn when any type of liquid touches the eye area. I've been paying really close attention to everything that touches my eyes to mark out any types of reactions from products, but it doesn't seem... -
ARCHIVED Eye Troubles
BRS-07 replied to BRS-07's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Wow I've never heard of that before, but I'm definently going to make an appointment to talk to my doctor and get tested. My doctors have shrugged off my dry eyes and my eye doctor has had me on Restasis for over a year already but just said some people live with dry eyes. Thank you both for your help.
