  1. Thank you for your help. I was hoping I would not have to give up fresh strawberry jam. I do not have any special recipes. I usually follow the one in the box instructions. I have been canning peaches lately. We have a pick it yourself orchard less then a mile from my home. They have been the best peaches I have ever had. I am also trying to make my...
  2. I just received an email from the makers of Fruit Fresh and Ball Fruit Pectin saying that while these products were gluten free, they could not verify that their suppliers were free of cross contamination. They recommended not using their products. I really want to can things (peaches, tomatoes, etc) and make my own jams, but I have not idea what to use...
  3. I do not know how many people are like this. I have had some minor stomach issues already and nausea, but for me, the worst is yet to come. Most of my problems are neurological. Usually the day after I eat something I shouldn't have I get really fatigued, depressed, and extremely irritable. I get so upset over such minor things. This usually last three...
  4. I feel so dumb right now! I have been trying to figure out why I have been feeling so crummy lately (like I have been glutened). I knew that I had not eaten anything unsafe. Ha Ha. As I sat here reading the website drinking this new organic drink I found at Walmart, I had an epiphany. I had read the ingredients in the store, but I got distracted and did...
  5. I wish I knew more details to tell you. Our GI doctor is well trained in Celiac Disease. He studied at a university that at one time was the only one in our region that even diagnosed celiac disease. He is one of the only GI doctors in the area that even specializes in it, but he will only see children. I do not want to misquote him, but I believe he...
  6. I do not know if I will be any help, but I am going to try. It is very possible to have a positive Anti gliadin (IgG) and not have Celiac Disease. Only 2% of people who only have an elevated IgG actually have celiac disease. Only 12% of people who have only an elevated IgA actually have celiac disease. If a person has both an elevated IgG and IgA, they...
  7. Thank you for your responses. I will ask my doctor for a referral if he is unable to run the appropriate test. It is really comforting to know that there are other people out there who are willing to share their experiences. Thank you!
  8. Hi, I have asked for help before for myself, and everyone was so nice and offered great advice. I have never been diagnosed with Celiac Disease, but I have been gluten free for three months and feel like a new person. I am afraid that my 17 month old daughter may possible be showing gluten sensitivity symptoms, but I am not certain. Her food goes right...
  9. I spoke with a representative of Garden of Eatin after my daughter had a bad allergic reaction from eating the blue chips (she is allergic to wheat). They say their products are not gluten free because they are produced on the same lines as products that contain gluten. This a copy of the email they sent me after I talked with them. Thank you for taking...
  10. This seemed like a good place to vent. I am absolutely furious and disgusted. My mom went to the doctor to have her annual check up and request the celiac blood test. She has the classic textbook symptoms of Celiac, but has been saddled with the good old IBS diagnosis. Because I have done so well gluten free, I encouraged her to be tested. Her doctor...
  11. Hello, I am probably telling you something you already know, but just in case you do not...Has anyone suggested Sjogren's syndrome? This web pages gives a brief description of it. Open Original Shared Link I hope this helps.
  12. Hey, I thought I would let you know that Green Mountain Gringo tortilla strips are gluten free. I spoke with the manufacture and was assured that chips are made in a dedicated facility, so there is no chance of cross contamination. Their salsa is also gluten free. Both are very tasty! I purchased mine at Earth Fare.
  13. I hope this is an appropriate place to ask this in regards to gluten strictness. I have contacted several manufactures about the potential for cross contamination. Even if the label states gluten free, the company is unwilling to guarantee that it is because the foods are produced on the same lines as gluten containing foods. Some companies claim they...
  14. Thank you so much for your replies. You have all given me hope and great information. I had no idea that it took that long to get the gluten out of your system, or that it could have a delayed reaction. I will follow your advice and go six weeks before trying anything with gluten again. I still have so much to learn. I will keep reading this forum. ...
  15. I am so sorry for the length, but I wanted to be thorough. I have been looking at these boards for a couple of weeks now and have read how you encourage and help each other. I really need some advice and have nowhere else to turn. I learned of Celiac when I first started doing research after my oldest daughter was diagnosed with wheat, dairy, and egg allergies...
