  1. Happy birthday and may God bless you today!

  2. I'm currently on a kick making chicken piccata. It's super flavorful and seems to go well with summer menus. You can get a pretty great gluten free recipe from elanaspantry.com with full instructions. Or just sub in your favorite picatta recipe any starchy flour (rice flour works). I don't eat dairy so I mix olive oil and coconut oil for my fat instead of...
  3. Hi Again, Monosodium Glutamate (MSG) MSG is the sodium salt of glutamic acid, an amino acid found in many foods. It has been produced from both wheat gluten and sugar beet molasses but is now produced almost entirely from the latter in a highly purified form. Most authorities agree that it is harmless. There should be no concern among Celiacs about...
  4. I've wondered the same thing. Hope someone answers your question so I can know also .
  5. OK, I was under the assumption that if it was made in the US that MSG is gluten free, but MSG of non-US origin could have gluten in it (e.g. that tasty sauce from thailand that you used to love). Kind of the same deal with vinegars. Is this wrong mama goose?
  6. From Quaker website- Because oats are grown, stored, and transported in bulk, they may contain trace amounts of wheat, rye and barley. USDA grain standards allow a certain percentage of other grains to be present in the oats. Therefore, gluten may be found in oats, even if very small amounts of these other grains are present. 7. I have tried that particular recipe. It is an ok subsitute... maybe I did something wrong but it turned out a bit between a pancake and pita. Work with a really hot pan I guess.
  8. I have been debating this as well. I am also not officially diagnosed but am personally convinced through diet/solving of health problems to maintain a gluten-free diet for life. I had a college doctor who mentioned to me that gluten could be the source of my problems but said that she couldn't do any test from the university. This is after years of doctors...
  9. This post is in response to the original questions posted on beer. I should probably start a new string but didn't want to add excess strings out there. Disclaimer: I personally don't drink lite beers, partly because I don't like them, but mostly because I don't trust that lite beer won't harm me even if you other gluten-free people say it doesn't cause...
  10. I am currently looking for a grain (and bean and nut) grinder to make my gluten-free flours. I'm hoping people are out there that can give me advice on finding a model that can handle all of the above, and doesn't cost an arm and a leg. Please comment on any missinformation below (for example can the nutrimill or wondermill handle oily grains?) as well as...
  11. Wine is better than beer!!!!!
