I normally take 50mg a day. Sometimes less sometimes more but an average of 50mg. I have not had any blood tests at all and have been taking it for about 5 months. I have considered getting blood tests but never got round to it as I work up to 70 hours some weeks. I should really get some tests. I am gluten free but still seem to get some itching once...

ARCHIVED A Yorkshire Girl Says Hello!
snipe12 replied to julietiff's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi, I am in Yorkshire too. Tesco is the best supermarket I have found for Gluten Free foods. I have multiple food allergies and all own brand tesco products are labeled properly (has an allergy section on the pack). -
Weird you mention that, I seem to have been having a similar problem. Out of interest how did you know you had liver problems, from tests or did you become ill?

ARCHIVED Just Had An Allergy Test, Distraught!
snipe12 replied to snipe12's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
kabowman, thanks for the info. As we both have very similar allergies can you give me a basic idea of what you eat. I would really appreciate it. Just struggling at the moment for ideas. -
ARCHIVED Just Had An Allergy Test, Distraught!
snipe12 replied to snipe12's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Thanks KaitiUSA, I was only kind of half aware about the oats. For some reason I thought they did contain gluten but was not the same kind so I thought some people could tolerate it but a friend tells me that oats just have a lot less gluten which is why a select few can tolerate it. I had also heard the same about dairy but to be honest I don't really... -
ARCHIVED Just Had An Allergy Test, Distraught!
snipe12 posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I have just had an allergy test and I am deeply saddened by the results. I just can't catch a break these days. It seems I am allergic to not only Gluten (as if that diet isn't hard enough) but also Wheat, Oats, Yeast, Soy, Dairy. I went gluten free for about 3 or 4 months and I was coping but in the end I just gave up as I wasn't 100% sure if I was allergic... -
Hi. I am still pretty new to this but you can eat a lot of brands of chocolate, you just need to be careful. People like Nestle and Cadburys list on the products and websites if they contain things like gluten, soy, nuts etc. Another thing you need to be careful of is snack sized chocolate. I have found a few times the normal version is fine but a snack...

ARCHIVED Vodka
snipe12 replied to eternity's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
From what I understand all vodkas are gluten free due to the distillation process even if made from a gluten containing grain. The only time you would have problems is if something is added afterwards. I used to think that vodka made from grain was causing me problems. It was actually the bar coke from the soda gun. Still not worked out which bar... -
ARCHIVED Proper Food Combining Would Help?
snipe12 replied to Jeepster's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
That is weird FreyaUSA, my mother is also a nutritionist and don't worry, I am not offended as I didn't write them. The only one I truly follow is the fruit on an empty stomach. The rest of the time I take digestive enzymes to help boost my own bodies digestion. Tom some of the rules make common sense, I didn't provide any scientific proof, merely some... -
Hope it goes well for you. I had my company Christmas dinner last night. What a farce that was. I had pre ordered a gluten free meal about a month or so in advance. Everyone had set seating so they knew where I was sitting. They brought out the soup and I had specifically said no to it due to the contents of the stock. The waitress proceeded to try...

ARCHIVED Proper Food Combining Would Help?
snipe12 replied to Jeepster's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I think it is pretty much based on science. Modern diet bares little resemblance to years and years ago. Have you ever noticed when you eat certain foods you feel full for ages or can taste the food when you burp. Your body can digest certain foods much more quickly than others. If you eat say meat and veg it will be dealt with quickly, if you eat meat... -
ARCHIVED Digestive Enzymes
snipe12 replied to christtheking's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
The best Digestive Enzymes I have used are Brands like Solgar. Much better than any of the ones that have things like papaya and ginger etc. You can certainly tell the difference after a big meal. -
ARCHIVED York Allergy Testing
snipe12 replied to debmidge's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
You need to have consumed them within the last 6 months though otherwise it will not show in the blood test. -
Hi. Most vodkas are fine but if you want to be super cautious then Smirnoff is corn based. Occasionally some hard alcohols have something added after the distillation process which makes them unsafe but there are only a few like that.

ARCHIVED I Glutened Myself Over The Weekend.
snipe12 replied to snipe12's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thanks for your comments I know it was not the lamb steak because I prepared it all myself but certainly one to think of for the future if I go out. I live above my dads restaurant so I popped down and cooked it for myself. My skin is just starting to heal and I feel much better today energy wise. I can't believe I thought the stuff on the chips was... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Corn Tortillas
snipe12 replied to pamelaD's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Old El Passo might be available? They list 100% corn flour, veg oil and salt on the ingredients list. -
Prozac is a pretty drastic measure. Exercise is a great one for stress. Try going running after a stressful day even if it is only for 15 mins. Nothing beats stress and anger like pushing your body to the limit. When you get back it is physically impossible not to feel happy due to the endorphins which are released. The other bonus is you will become...

ARCHIVED York Allergy Testing
snipe12 replied to debmidge's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I used to know York Labs well, very good company so I imagine not much has changed in the last couple of years. One thing a lot of people do not know is that you need to consume a wide range of foods including the ones you have been avoiding because you believe you are intolerant to them to get the most accurate results. Often people find that they are... -
So peed with myself. I am very new to this whole gluten intolerance situation. I have been gluten free for a couple of weeks now and the difference was amazing. My energy levels were so much better and my skin was looking pretty good as well. I can't believe there was such a difference in the space of a couple of weeks. I had been having a good time...

It isn't going to be easy at all. I would suggest you find some sort of translation of your problem with a short description to print on a card of some sort. The main issue in Asian countries is they do not have the kind of hygiene a lot of us westerners are used to and cross contamination will be a big issue. I suppose since western culture has taken...

ARCHIVED New To The Whole Gf Diet, Suggestions?
snipe12 posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I have been having problems with energy levels, skin problems, constipation etc. About two weeks ago I decided to go Gluten free, in fact it was grain free for a few days. The difference in my general feeling of wellbeing was massive. I thought the reason for my tiredness all the time was the silly amount of hours I work each week. I decided to have one... -
ARCHIVED Under Eye Circles
snipe12 replied to ham&ex's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
In my previous experience the dark circles under your eyes are either the fact you are not drinking enough water, not getting enough sleep or to do with your body being toxic. If they are always there then it is most likely that your body is toxic. Our bodies were never meant to consume the foods we eat these days. Your liver has a certain amount of... -
ARCHIVED Has Anyone Tried This?
snipe12 replied to Canadian Karen's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi. I am quite new around here but I know a few bits about things like bowel cleanses and liver flushes etc. A bowel cleanse would not cure Celiac disease and nor would a liver flush. However a bowel cleanse would be of benefit. The large bowel is responsible for absorbing vitamins/minerals, water etc whilst also been one of the bodies means of getting... -
