  1. The results are in and I'm negative. Negative for celiac, negative for h pylori, and negative for colitis. Perhaps my gallbladder is to blame and that would make sense. I do think I had a reaction to the wheat in my diet. I may have been reacting to the carbs more than the wheat. Whatever the case, it is still back to low carb for me because I just...
  2. The results are in.....and .... I'm still waiting for answers. The doctor told me the results would be in by this afternoon, but I couldn't wait so I called. The office staff said the results are back, but the doctor has not given the sign off on them yet, so the office staff said they will have to call me back. The suspense is killing me. LOL
  3. First, if you feel your doctor is being dismissive of your symptoms, you need to find another doctor. No matter how good a doctor is, if I'm told I could not be feeling something I'm clearly feeling, I would not trust the doctor after that. I've had good doctors and I've bad doctors, and you owe it to yourself to find one who will listen to you. When...
  4. Made it through the procedure ok. Doc said he got lots of biopsies of my small and large intenstines. He said he should have the results on Monday. He said everything looked good to the naked eye; however. He did find some diverticulosis though. He said I'm definitely having problems with sleep apnea, and that my oxygen levels dropped so much during...
  5. Tomorrow is my egd and colonoscopy. I did hear back from the doc's office today on the gallbladder ultrasound and did come back positive for gallstones. I couldn't glean any other info from the nurse except that there were stones located near the neck of the gallbladder. She told me he intends to discuss the results and treatment plan with me when he sees...
  6. Another Nashvillian here
  7. Well, this is encouraging. I have always had thin, weak nails and had to have acrylics put on if I really wanted long nails. I didn't realize ridges and no half moons were indicative of problems. It will be interesting to see if that improves once I'm gluten free. I have my endoscopy on Friday.
  8. Thanks. Regardless of the dx, I will definitely be removing gluten from my diet as I can honestly say that I did not start feeling this bad until I started eating it. I was low carbing it for the most part, which meant my intake of gluten was far less than it is now. Since I've been consciously eating more, my symptoms have overwhelmed me. If its NOT celiac...
  9. Ugh...I have to tell you guys I feel just awful. I hope it is the wheat because if it isn't, I don't know what I will be able to "do" to make this better. I'm completely, totally exhausted. Today I had a gallbladder ultrasound. I should have the results of that by Tuesday. I went and ate afterwards because I was hungry and had not had anything to...
  10. Good luck! I saw my "good" GI doc today and he scheduled an endoscopy as well. I was wondering why no blood test, but since I understand the endoscopy is the gold standard, maybe he was just cutting to the chase. I have to wait nearly two weeks though! I really feel so bad that I wish it could be sooner. I hope you get some good answers from this...
  11. Thanks for the responses. I just now saw them! I had my appt. with the GI doc today. I found his name on this site and I have to agree, he seems to be a good doctor and very knowledgable and supportive of issues relating to celiac disease. I did think it odd that the didn't even bother with the blood test. We have the endoscopy a week from Friday...
  12. Yes, I realize that low carb and gluten free are not the same thing. In my introductory post (which I don't think anyone has seen since no one has responded! LOL) I mentioned that I lost weight on a low carb diet, which essentially DID eliminate most of the offending gluten containing foods like bread, etc... Based on what I've seen regarding safe and...
  13. I'm probably not going to be of much help as I'm new here as well, and waiting for my first appt. with the GI next week. I'm still eating gluten while I wait, and its been hard since I already know I do better with a low carb diet. I've experienced all of the above that you've described as well as lots of very loose and watery versions. Whatever is...
  14. Well, I'll reply to myself here if for no other reason than to journal. I'm not feeling well tonight and I'm wondering if it is because I'm allowing myself to have wheat right now in anticipation of my appt. with the GI doc. I'm retaining water like crazy. Yesterday, I had "d" and today - nothing at all, even though a few times I felt like I needed to...
  15. Hello all. I'm new to the board and am just now coming around to the idea that I may have issues with gluten intolerance or celiac. I'm interested in hearing other's experience. I made an appointment with a local GI doc recommended on this site this morning. I never really considered that celiac disease could have been a problem since I've actually...
