When I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease, My GI Dr. told me to go on line and learn all about the disease. He had nothing to tell me other then to not eat gluten and that I could learn about it all on line. Is this what they all do?

Thank you!

I am unable to go 100% gluten-free in my kitchen and I thought I was being safe. What thinks should I be doing to keep myself safe? Some ideas?

Can any one tell me of a good store bought bread that isn't a crumbly mess when I toast it and put butter on it?

What is the reaction people are getting from there cosmetics? Is that what might be making me sick. Like maybe my lotion, if it gets in my mouth some how when I'm eating? -
I read about a kit that can detect gluten in your food, before you eat it. It takes 10 minutes and it is supposed to be very accurate. I was wandering if anyone has heard of these tests. And if so, Is it a good idea to get. I just can't figure out were the gluten keeps coming from. Also. My husband saw on Animal Planet, that this person has a dog who sniffs...

ARCHIVED I Know, This Is Really Random
Mey Marie replied to Susy13's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I have a hard time still with my shopping trips. I make my list and go on line to make sure that my favorite brands are gluten free. If they are not I look for the name of one that is. I don't have a phone that goes on line but my hubby does, and I have to say that when he is with me at the store it is nice to have. Most times he isn't though. So just plan... -
ARCHIVED Going Back On Gluten For The Next Six Weeks!
Mey Marie replied to Imanistj's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Sounds like Gluten might just not be the problem. Or at least not Celiac. Some people should just stay away from it anyway. If you don't have a problem with Gluten, Then I hope they find the problem for you. You sure have been compliant with the Dr.s orders. Good luck. -

My Doc had me eat gluten until after my scope and biopsy. He said that he would then be able to get a true reading of the biopsy. He said if I had not been eating gluten, That he might get a wrong negative result. Sounds like you were gluten free at the time of your tests. -
ARCHIVED How To Clean Gluten Contamination.
Mey Marie replied to jackay's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
You said there isn't a Gluten free section in your stores around you. Then you should write a letter and let them know They could lose your business. Even some Large corporations really want to try to make us happy. For now you might be able to find a health food store near you. If you have a Trader Joe's, They have LOTS of stuff gluten-free. Also I make... -
That's it. I am going to write the company. I think we all should. This is not OK. If they want to say in business, They need all of us. If they start to lose the people who use celiac.com Then they are losing a large part of there customer base.

It's not just you. My friend has the same problem with Amy's. It sucks because they really have some great stuff.

I Went out and got some things from the store in a hurry last night and didn't even think to look and see if the yogurt I got was gluten-free. Now I can't find a phone # for the company and I Put in an Email last night but haven't heard back yet. I am being a little impatient I know. But I really want to eat it. I don't have much else in the house that is...

For the past week and a half My BMs have been coming out sort of orangish in color even a bit redish. The first day it happened, I thought it was from the tomato sauce from the night before. Then the next night we had yummy gluten free pumpkin pie, so when I had another red orange BM I thought it was what I ate again. But now it is going on and on. I have...

Mey Marie replied to gettinbetterbaby's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I also take Zoloft, and I know that when my Dr tried to make a change to my meds a few years ago and wanted to ween me off of the zoloft, that I got very sick. It is a really bad feeling. I hated that. I bet that is most of what you are feeling. PS. Stay in close contact with your Dr when in a med change. Don't do anything without talking to you Dr. and... -
My husband and I made Pizza last night and it was so terrible. We used Natures Highlights Brown Rice Pizza Crust. It comes frozen. It was so grainy and dense. It stuck to my molars every time I tried to chew it. Does any one know of a good frozen one or a mix that is good. Or even a homemade recipe? Meg

Do I need to go back to eating gluten for the biopsy/scope? I had to for the blood test but what about the biopsy? It is coming up. Oh and Why is it that I am suddenly losing hair NOW that I am gluten free, and I wasn't before I went gluten free?
-
Thank you JW. I am so happy to know that there are people near me who I can talk to. I will email you!
