    I've been wanting to start a thread to help others, like so many here, that go from Dr to Dr looking for answers. We spend so much time and money to get support. I want to mention that I'm not bashing any dr, but I wish I could have looked on here and seen if anyone else had met these Drs and whether they knew anything about celiac.     I think that it's important that drs realize there are many people who don't fit "typical profiles"...for example, my sister was diagnosed with type I diabetes at 36 years old, with no previous symptoms or dignosis beforhand (as you know, most are diagnosed with this in childhood).     Ok, I keep forgetting to write all my questions. If these aren't all the tests, could anyone tell me what else to ask for? I'm having a hard time understanding all of this. Thank you guys, so much.

    Ok, so I got a copy of my celiac panel and tried (via some posts on here) to interpret whether there could be some potential that I do in fact have celiac, despite my dr saying not likely. I was soooo sure these were going to come back positive as soooo many symptoms fit me. Could someone interpret the results, and maybe tell me if it is 100 percent certain...

In my life-long experience with GI drs and the continual IBS diagnosis, they usually try to put you on all sorts of medication repeatedly rather than trying to get to the root of the problem. I read someone on here earlier (can't remeber who it was, so can't give credit, but Ithought it was brilliant)...anyway, they stated that they tink...

    Yes, definitely sounds like it could be celiac, especially with your daughter having the same condition. I have both types of reactions...sometimes instant and sometimes within hours or days. If you search around on here, you'll see that everyone's reactions to gluten are very different and unique, even within families. I hope you find health and answers

    Wow...this sounds familiar to me. My son is 20 months and I suspect celiac disease. He, like your son, started only wanting "carbs" at about 1 years old (he ate all types of food before). He has diarrhea and gas and gets very rashy. Do you or his dad have any gluten issues? That could be a good indication for starters. I've seen the Seinfeld cookbook called...

    Hi, all! After google-ing for an hour, I thought I'd just come ask the experts over here. I received copies of my blood work today and the only significant things were a very high T4 reading, but my TSH was in the normal range (closer to the low side, but still within range). I really don't know much about this, so I thought some of you could enlighten me...

    I'm not as knowledgeable as all of you, but this topic brought up a question that I haven't found an answer to yet...can gluten intolerance have a genetic effect on family members, like celiac can? Or is it only celiac that seems to run in families? I'm curious bc I'm trying to get myself and son diagnosed and would like to know if it could be gluten intolerance...

    Ugh...I hate the waiting and suspense. The good news is you could start a gluten free diet and see how you feel now! hope the findings are conclusive for you.

    Just wanted to add that it's tough making parental decisions that we feel are in our kid's best interests. Weaning from a bottle is tough, but we do it b/c we know it's best for them. Don't give up b/c of what other's say. You are at the best forum to get support and I hope you aren't detered b/c of the previous comment.

    Please don't feel bad about trying to obtain a diagnosis for your son. I am working on getting my son and myself a "piece of paper that says positive" because I feel it is important to have. If we go through too much to obtain an accurate diagnosis, then I will probably just revert to self diagnosis and go on the diet, but I think it will help him cope to...

    O man, this makes my blood boil, because I am going through exactly the same thing. I literally felt my blood pressure rise when reading your post...arggggh! I think I have changed dr's about 6-7 times (twice in the past 2 months) b/c of ignorance and the way they treat me (For a while I thought I was crazy and felt guilty about it)...you should check...

    I'm really new to all of this, but am just offering up some information you may not have heard. I just recently learned about a condition called fructose malabsorption. You probably have to google it as it seems a little complicated. I noticed in my findings that some people with celiac also have this condition. I see you have eaten tomoates, salad dressing...

    Just an update for anyone interested. I called the Holistic Center here in Kansas City and it is definitely not cheap for treatment. They said it would be $400 an hour, $150 fee for new patients, and additional $75 per visit and usually you need 4-5 visits. On top of that you may need to purchase nutrients and supplements, ehich can average up to $500...

    I've been researching and reading about the possibility of candida overgrowth being a factor in the onset of Celiac disease. I'm convinced I have Celiac, but I am also convinced I have candida overgrowth. It's not mentioned often, so you have to dig to find articles stating the relationship. My GI Specialist says he doesn't believe in candida in the intestine...

    I'm not a dr either, but I've been reading and researching like crazy, and that sounds backwards to me. From what I've read the blood test is typically performed 1st (which can produce a false negative) and the biopsy is the "gold standard" for diagnosis of celiac. Someone might correct what I've just said, but I'm almost certain that is what I've read over...
