  1. Some more information. Today, waking up around noon, I had for lunch and a snack (at the same time - still in the "hungry" phase, if recovering) tuna fish, 2 bananas, some peanut butter, and 3 yogurts. I started to feel a bit tired and somewhat weaker (I felt the glass of water I was holding seem to weigh a bit more), and decided to take some L-glutamine...
  2. Awesome. So would this: Open Original Shared Link help? I can't swallow pills. I can break them into powder and eat the powder, but I'd rather not. Anything chewable is what I'd prefer. Would you recommend this product? Oh, and before you comment on this statement: "May be used as a companion or alternative to the gluten-free/casein-free diet", bear...
  3. I think the point is to heal the body and prevent the reactions, rather than "mask" them. I understand your concern. I personally would definitely take such a cure, and remain gluten-free anyway. Then again, like I mentioned before, I have a secondary reason to remain gluten-free anyway. But still, I don't believe in taking chances, yet I do believe in taking...
  4. Even though I don't intend to ever "cheat" on a diet related to my health, I'm not offended by your attitude. Sometimes you need to just tell it like it is. Trust me, I have no desire to intentionally consume gluten or anything else that might gluten me even AFTER a vaccine is invented. (I have autism, so gluten would affect me in a different, but much...
  5. I read on another site where someone else with celiac took digestive enzymes and continued to eat gluten, he stopped having "glutening" symptoms. On the other hand, he did suffer gluten withdrawal when he stopped taking both. For those of us who have a problem with casein, does this help against casein? Or other possible food intolerances? I am thinking...
  6. Wow, it sounds like the vaccine is coming along better than the treatment! On the other hand, if it's a vaccine and not a cure, then that means it won't work on those of us who already have the disorder? Or is it possible that a vaccine can also be a cure? I seriously can't wait. Like you, I too won't go back to eating a lot of gluten; heck, as an autistic...
  7. Since you only take it once a day, I take it that's all I need? Take it once in the morning, and then during the rest of the day, should I accidentally consume small amounts of gluten, it'll digest it for me or help it not break through my intestine? And heal my GI tract at the same time?
  8. I had heard so much about digestive enzymes and probiotics helping my fellow celiacs, so any ideas as to what I should get? How does the one at this site sound? Open Original Shared Link It's CHEWABLE, which is a huge deal for me, as I can't swallow pills. Sure I can chew pills in powder form, but I'd rather avoid it if I can. Anyway, what are the...
  9. I went on Google News and searched for "celiac" and "gluten intolerance" to see what came up, and I was pleasantly surprised to see that an experimental treatment called AT-1001 is in the works, that supposedly has shown results so far. Supposedly you have to take it a few hours before you might eat anything with gluten in it. What it does is it stops the...
  10. Okay, I've been gluten-free for a little over 2 months now. I'm going through the "hungry all the time" phase, and have also had withdrawal symptoms (muscle twitching, pins and needles, itchiness) flare up and gradually calm down (they come and go but mildly). Anyway, I'd been gradually getting better with my hunger as it went down, then up again, then...
  11. Nope. I don't get why they didn't seem to gluten me. Smaller amounts of gluten? Either way, I'm avoiding them for good for now, hoping my hunger will go down. I'm past the "put on muscle rapidly" part of the hunger thing, and am now putting on my gut. For the past two days, I didn't eat any Fudgsicles (and the ice cream cookie things were a one-time thing...
  12. The cupcakes contained frosting that had barley as an ingredient. It was the frosting. I ate the rest of the cupcakes after lopping off their tops, and they themselves didn't bother me. As for the fish with crackers, bear in mind that fish (flounder specifically) had been serving as a sort of antidote for me. In the past, it made me feel great after...
  13. I don't know. I didn't get tested for that. I got my blood tested for everything but vitamins, but I didn't get an entero, and now that I stopped eating gluten, I'm not going to start just for it. I didn't do the genetic test either. But I do know that I'd been suffering the effects of being glutened when eating gluten, for months before I figured out...
  14. I'd read that online also, but I definitely know how I felt that day, and I know that's what I ate. And it went away when I stopped eating it. I don't get it myself, but I now don't trust that brand.
  15. Now, I'd read that those who have "gluten intolerance" instead of "celiac disease" can technically have a "low gluten diet", whatever exactly "low" means. But I'd definitely been getting glutened HARD by whole wheat bread, and Peter Pan peanut butter (not other brands though), and soft pretzels from the pretzel factory. I didn't get it quite as quickly...
  16. Maybe. The hunger goes up and down still, and still has the gradual "down" trend, even if it goes back up other days. I stopped eating Fudgsicles a few days ago because of that. The ice cream cookie sandwiches were a one-time thing, when the hunger first started. The fish with crackers was a one-time thing, and it had definite "glutened" effects. So the...
  17. Awesome. Sounds like you've healed quite a bit if your reactions are less severe than they were before. I can't wait to get to that point.
  18. If I need a certain amount to trigger symptoms, I am lucky. But I will try to avoid all gluten, period. Guess that means no more Fudgsicles, in that case, even though they never made me feel bad before.
  19. I forget, as I never bookmarked it. I was looking up all sorts of stuff online, but I do remember multiple sources saying that fish oil or fish itself contained naturally-occurring L-glutamine, which stops celiac symptoms. Also, from my experience, eating fish (flounder) on days when I'd been glutened (before I knew what my problem even was!) caused...
  20. I'm self-diagnosed. I was suffering severe brain fog one night and looked up "inability to concentrate", which led to "brain fog", which led to possible treatments for brain fog. A "gluten-free, wheat-free diet helps a surprising number of people", one site said. I went on one and it worked. And when I was glutened again, it came back (along with the other...
  21. Okay, Fudgsicles are one of the foods I ate a lot of when I first went gluten-free, as I went through that horrible "hungry all the time" phase (which is still not over for me, but is slowly improving as the weeks go by). I never got glutened from them. When I ate "gluten-free" cupcakes, I did get glutened from the frosting (it contained barley), and I knew...
  22. This is normal. It happens to like everyone, especially those who lost weight while eating gluten. I was hungry all the time myself starting a few days after going gluten-free. It GRADUALLY got better over time. It's been 2 months now, and I don't have to eat a huge meal every hour or two. Instead I just need to have 1 or 2 afternoon snacks (or 1 very...
  23. How am I feeling? Up and down. I'm still in recovery, but I haven't been glutened since August. My hunger levels sometimes go up for days at a time, and sometimes down for days at a time. On some days, eating food can cause me to feel tired for a short while afterwards, which eventually passes, while on other days, it doesn't. I guess it's still part of gluen...

CBC (includes diff/plt) White blood cell count - 3.9 thousand (normal = 3.8-10.8 thousand/uL) Red blood cell count - 5.01 million (normal = 4.2-5.8 million/uL) Hemoglobin = 15.5 (normal = 13.2-17.1 g/dL) Hematocrit = 45.6 (normal = 38.5-50.0%) MCV = 91.0 (normal = 80-100 fL) MCH = 31.0 (normal = 27-33 pg) MCHC = 34.1 (normal =32-36 g/dL) RDW = 13...
  25. Now, I've been gluten-free since early August 2009, after suffering symptoms since March 2009. I'd only been accidentally glutened twice that I know of, during the month of August - frosting on a gluten-free cupcake (didn't know chocolate frosting had gluten - it came from barley), and crackers on fish (should have seen that coming, but the fish itself acted...
