  1. I'll increase my water. I seem to keep forgetting to drink. It doesn't help with hunger so much as with headaches that I sometimes get from not drinking enough. The overstimulate my stomach thing doesn't seem to be my problem. When I first got the hunger, it was even worse than it is now, and I was eating a lot every hour. I was tested for only a few...
  2. Okay, I ate so much tuna fish that I got headaches from the mercury (I was eating 2 cans a day on average). So I need to lay off that for a while. But it was such a great source of protein, giving me nearly 100g in 2 containers! Now I'm snacking on peanut butter a lot, which is protein and monounsaturated fat (the healthiest kind), but it doesn't seem...
  3. So there really is, as yet, no known way to deal with possible cross contamination? That really sucks. I hold out hope that cures or treatments will be developed some day, but still... Has anyone else tried any enzymes and knowingly had gluten (even a tiny amount), and vouch for if any brand works or not?
  4. Yeah, I think it's meant to be such an alternative only to those on the autism spectrum, who have a problem with gluten for different reasons. I'm on the autism spectrum myself, but just my luck that I randomly got NCGS or Celiac (without the 2 genes it's known for). I've heard Peptizyde makes things worse by breaking gluten down into smaller chunks that...
  5. According to Open Original Shared Link , multiple drug trials are going on regarding celiac disease. I don't have the celiac genes, so I likely have non-celiac gluten sensitivity, but I have the same symptoms and am still messed up by gluten wherever I encounter it, so I'm hoping that some of this stuff treats gluten intolerance as well. Anyway, they have...
  6. I can't find info claiming that this particular product is designed to help with celiac disease. I'd try it if other people could vouch for it, or if you noticed it helped with glutenings (i.e. you knew for a fact that you accidentally ate gluten, but you took this and felt no symptoms).
  7. Thanks. I might not need it. I was feeling noticably better today, though I had flounder for dinner (figured that it has less mercury than tuna, and I have flounder rarely, so what the heck? Plus, it wasn't my choice). I'll just let this get better on its own, since it seems to.
  8. Okay, I take digestive enzymes before breakfast and dinner now, to deal with possible cross contamination. Well, dinner was flounder, brown rice, carrots (in butter), and apple sauce. I took 2 enzymes before dinner, but after dinner, felt a slight blood sugar drop (I think) and a little strange in the forehead. But I didn't have any gastro symptoms, D...
  9. I'm going to see an endocrinologist next month. I think I'll get tested for casein peptides then. But autistic people have withdrawal from gluten and casein anyway. The gluten withdrawal symptoms I had were identical to things I experienced in my senior year of high school, yet I never suffered glutening symptoms then. At the very least, I'll keep it during...
  10. So yogurt contains probiotics? That might explain the slight hunger decrease (albeit very slight, yet I'm pretty sure I didn't imagine it) after I had 2 yogurts yesterday. It wasn't because it had casein. It was the probiotics. And I have seen references to probiotics decreasing hunger a bit. I don't know what to believe, but it seems believable to me...
  11. Since I never got glutening symptoms from casein, I'm reintroducing some dairy into my diet. It already seems to help the hunger slightly. As for why I have casein withdrawal? Could have to do with being autistic, as autistic people respond to gluten and casein even if they're not celiac. Casein never seemed to bother me like gluten did (and does even more...
  12. I just saw the doctor today, but didn't think to mention tuna to him. It didn't occur to me until tonight, after reading about it, that it could be the cause of headaches. Blah. I don't want to make another appointment right away. What is chelation therapy? Who does it? Maybe I can get a referral over the phone. He's referred me to an endocrinologist to...
  13. I know the brand Stoneybrook Farms. They sell them at a local store here. As for mercury, that is a shame. I just have to wait it off and hope that the overall headaches, and headaches/fatigue after eating go away. The headache/fatigue combo returned today after having dinner, but I had 2 cans of tuna fish as part of breakfast today, and 2 yesterday, and...
  14. For what it's worth, my hunger went down much more than I expected after dinner. I had chicken, potatoes, apple sauce, and carrots. And I hadn't had carrots in a long time. Before that, I reintroduced yogurt, which I had 2 of before dinner. I had a headache after dinner and some fatigue... but that could be caused by my excessive consumption of tuna...
  15. I tried carrots today. I think I'll be having raw baby carrots as part of a snack. Also, it seemed that my hunger went down somewhat when I had yogurt today. I hope that doesn't mean anything bad (i.e. that it's somehow addictive, like gluten. Again, I don't get glutening symptoms from casein). I'll keep having dairy products - besides milk, which has...
  16. I would have headaches and fatigue after eating food, and at one point, it was really powerful. That was in mid-October, and I removed Fudgsicles from my diet (they contain gluten in the form of malt powder, and I didn't know malt came from barley - thank you, labeling laws). The problems began to subside after that, albeit slowly. Well, in the past few...
  17. "For most people, the risk from mercury by eating fish and shellfish is not a health concern." "The risks from mercury in fish and shellfish depend on the amount of fish and shellfish eaten and the levels of mercury in the fish and shellfish. Therefore, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) are advising women...
  18. I wish I liked the taste of nuts more, but I can tolerate them. And isn't store-bought fish removed of its mercury? What are the health benefits of coconut milk? I'm not a big fan of the taste of milk. I'd only added it to my diet because I believed it was good for me. I tried an avocado, but hated it! I couldn't keep going and finish the thing. A real...
  19. I'm one of those people who gets hungry all the time after going gluten-free. I stopped eating dairy products two Saturdays ago, and I now wonder if that was the right decision. I never got any "glutening" reactions from casein at all, yet removing it caused a slight relapse in gluten withdrawal symptoms (which may actually be a function of my autism/Asperger...
  20. I saw someone mention in one of the "hungry all the time" threads that she takes a probiotic active culture pill. (I can't swallow pills, so I'd have to get a chewable) What do they do? What do they help with, and how do they help? I see some websites mention that they can help "fight hunger", so if that's the case, which ones would you recommend?
  21. How bad was your hunger before you added the meat (like, how often did you have to eat, or how many calories did you eat a day if you counted calories), and how long did it take for the hunger to really go away after you added more meat? I'm eating like 4000 calories a day. If I don't, well, I feel horrible. You know, being unable to focus due to hunger...
  22. Excellent replies, everyone!! I think I'm learning a lot here. I thought I was lacking in protein and fat compared to my carbs, but now I see that I really should turn towards more protein sources. I've added peanut butter (which is more a healthy fat source than a protein source, but it contains both), and I intend to eat more tuna fish. Dinner included...
  23. Good point. The human body needs 3 macronutrients: protein, fat and carbohydrates. By and large, many people get too much fat and carbohydrates. Especially carbohydrates. Most of my foods have little fat in them. Bananas. Gluten-free Chex. Brown rice. My amount of protein hasn't changed much since before I got Celiac symptoms, except the problem is...
  24. While looking up celebrities with celiac disease, I found that a particular football player had his energy sapped from him by his celiac. Poor guy... I know all about the whole loss of energy problem firsthand! But that particular article mentioned that Celiac is "a disease which saps protein from the body". That's wayyy too much of an oversimplification...
