Gluten, casein, egg, soy, yeast, corn intolerant

  1. HELP!!! I've followed a gluten-free diet since last Oct.09. Went gluten-free, casein free, egg, soy, yeast free in Dec. 09. Started doing betten at that point. About six weeks ago, I visited my son at college and dined out and must have inadvertantly ingested one of those food proteins. I have NOT recovered from that. I don't know if I keep adding insult...
  2. Hi. That's a hard call to make since everyone varies with his/her level of gluten sensitivity. Some people can't use shampoo with gluten in it; some people have a severe reaction if they happen to have open loaves of wheat bread in the kitchen; some people can't use cosmetics with added gluten. But, with your situation, it might be a good idea to wear...
  3. If you are worried about handling the dog food, you can use disposable gloves or dishwashing gloves. Or, as suggested, switch to a dog kibble with a rice base. Much healthier, but a little more expensive. I personally make all of my dog food and their biscuits (it's a lot more work, but my dogs are extremely healthy). I have one who I though was sensitive...

    ARCHIVED Update

Hey Jason, You sound much better than your last post...much more positive and headed in the right direction. We're all in the same boat...some of us are cruising along with the wind in our sails, and some of us are taking on water and trying to figure out where the hole is. And it's easy to get down and feel defeated...I struggle with that every day. But...
  5. Thanks everyone for all the suggestions on how to spice up my naked food. It helps just knowing that there are many of you out there with the same type of food problems like I have. You all had such good ideas and I will happily try them all. I'll press on trying to figure out what foods to avoid, keeping my food journal, taking my probiotics and enzymes...
  6. Hi everyone, I happen to be gluten, casein, egg, soy, yeast, and corn intorerant. Am I the only one out there with so many intolerances? It seems I make the same meals over and over, which is okay, but my husband has NO intolerances and misses real food. But making two completely different meals at dinner is too much work. Besides it's depressing to...

ARCHIVED Gluten Test - Is It Valid?

"You can only be guaranteed to test positive for AGA, ATTA, and EMA (antibodies produced if you are gluten sensitive) if TOTAL villous atrophy has occurred--that is, only if the villi are completely flattened" --The Gluten Connection by Shari LiebermanPhD, CNS, FACN. So, if your bloodwork isn't positive, the MD may suggest an intestinal biopsy, or he may...
  8. LIFE IS A JOURNEY AND GLUTEN IS A STUMBLING BLOCK FOR SOME OF US. LEARN TO WATCH YOUR STEP AND BE SURE TO WEAR BOOTS!!!!

  9. I have two Gluten Intolerant genes. My symptoms started in Jan. 09 shortly after losing my mother. Added stresses probably added to the condition which continued to deteriorate until it came to a head in July. In Nov. I had stool anaylsis which gave me the answers I needed to start the process of healing myself and helping my children. Good luck to all of you on your journey.

  10. Has anyone started their own Celiac/Glu. Intol. Support Group? I live in Western Maryland and there are none in my location...but in our grocery store there is a gluten free section so I know others like me live here. If you have formed your own support group, please tell my how you got started.
  11. Thank you both for your info and advice. My mom started taking sublingual B-12 about a year before she died...too little, too late, I'm afraid. She had her tremor for 20+ years, which totally destroyed her quality of life. I am angry that not one MD picked up on any of her s/s as possibly being related to gluten/celiac. Months before she passed, she had...
  12. My 20 yr. old son is gluten/casein intolerant. Apparently he started with a slight hand tremor around age 15, which has become more pronounced since he has been in college. I know that ataxia, peripheral neuropathy, and migraines are the typical neuro. manifestations of celiac disease/GI, with s/s of peripheral neuropathy being numbness and tingling sensations...
  13. Dear "S" Nice to hear from a fellow Western Marylander!!! I thought I was all alone out here. Where 'bouts are you? I'm in LaVale. I'm interested to know who you were able to see in Balt? Was it at UMBC? I was told by them to get all the standard tests done locally (since they don't recognize the stool analysis and the gene testing) and to get back in...
  14. Hello, I have many food intolerances besides gluten...namely casein, corn, soy, eggs, yeast and probably some I don't even know about yet. I elected to have only the stool testing and gene analysis done by a lab in TX which confirmed the gluten intolerance, casein, egg, soy, & yeast intol. I never had the biopsy or the blood work which apparently...
  15. Jason, Wow. I was really moved by your note. I can totally relate to how you are feeling; I think many of us can. GI/Celiac Disease is totally life altering... mentally, physically, and emotionally. It's tough to deal with...for all the reasons you mentioned. It stinks...no doubt about it. I hate having GI. I hate that all my kids have it...some with...
