  1. Sorry to hear about this. I have eaten at a local mexican restaurant where I live and no matter what, I always question the waiter as to whether or not my corn tortillas are actually corn. It'll give me a panic attack to eat out at times. I have had an extensive conversation w/ the pwner about celiac and a manager has a wife w/ celiac. I also find that...
  2. Charcoal Caps are sold OTC at Walgreens and they help eliminate gas.
  3. At my last appt. last month, I asked about the cleaner and the hygenist showed me the box that stated the cleaner is gluten free. Just ask your hygenist.
  4. Thanks ladies... I think we'll definitely start by eliminating the fruit juices from her diet and stick to water and milk to see if the diahrrea stops. If not, I'm definitely pushing the test. She's never in pain, accept when the diaper rash is awful. lilysmama- my daughter is a Lillian.
  5. I was diagnosed with Celaic this last November and my daughter, 22 months, has had diarreah for nearly 2 months now. She eats gluten like dad and brother. What tests were done to confirm that your child had celiac? I can't imagine a blood draw on her (that's what intially gave me a positive test).
  6. I can't imagine another sandwich without Udi's bread. Enough said.
  7. I was tested for celiac disease last month via blood test and that came back positive. My endo ordered it since I am a type 1 diabetic and he said that celiac disease is common with diabetics. Last Friday I had the endocopy and biopsy done and when I called the gastroenterologist, the nurse told me that I had no bacteria in my intestines and I was negative...
  8. I work at a high school and every year around the holidays, we have a food gala where everyone showcases a dish. This year, I will be bringing a gluten-free dish since this is my 1st Christmas w/ Celiac. Should I send out an e-mail to my collegues asking if they could prepare gluten-free foods so I can eat more than just my one dish? Or they label their...
  9. I've been eating gluten-free for several weeks now. That won't affect my biopsy will it?
  10. I'm having my first endoscopy this Friday. Blood tests were postive for celiac. I've been gluten-free for nearly 3 weeks. I wasn't told by my Dr. to eat gluten first... I accidentally ate gluten at Thanksgiving and believe me, I paid for it later. Needless to say, I am worried about the biospy.
  11. I'm having my first endoscopy and biopsy of my small intestine this Friday. I am worried. Anyone with great words to say in regards to the proceedure?
  12. Troy, MO here. We drive into Chesterfield for Trader Joe's and we have a small market with gluten-free products. Kroger's has a pretty good selection as well. I was diagnosed just 2 weeks ago and we are facing sticker-shock as to the prices. What can you do? LOL... I get my biopsy next Friday- can't wait! (yeah right!!)
  13. I am new to celiac disease, as I was just diagnosed 2 weeks ago. Today being Thanksgiving, I ate gluten-free as I have been doing since I found out I had celiac, except I scooped the pumpkin pie filling out of the pie crust and ate that. Now I have spent considerable time in the bathroom having bowel movements. Was it the pie filling that had some crust...
