    ARCHIVED Gastritis

DawterAod: You are probably already avoiding caffeine, but I just thought I would mention it in case you aren't. Coffee itself (both regular AND decaf) as well as caffeine are gastric stimulants and can irritate your stomach lining further when you have gastritis. Be sure your are avoiding all sources of caffeine, coffee, alcohol, black pepper, cloves...
  2. Day 1 Breakfast Scrambled Eggs and Laura Linn (Ingles Brand) Hash Browns w/ Heinz Ketchup Fresh Pear Slices (my daughter never eats fruit, but I'm including what my son eats to make the meals more balanced) "Coffee-Milk" --1 oz of decaf coffee mixed with 2 oz of van boost plus and 4 oz of milk. (my little one wants to drink coffee like the grown-ups!...
  3. Christine: I totally agree with you that eating should be a pleasant experience for our kids. That's sometimes quite a challenge! It sounds like you are doing a great job, though! My daughter was very uninterested in food for a long time. Now, after 9 months gluten-free, she is finally starting to ask for food and even say she is hungry! It can be so...
  4. This is a great idea. I am copying all of these for my kids. All of you have been very creative. It's great to get some fresh ideas. I feel like we eat the same things all the time! My husband stays home with our children, so I leave him menus everyday for breakfast and lunch. I fix a lot of things ahead and freeze them. Here's a sample menu,...
  5. KayJay: Are you feeling any better? You are taking Zofran, which is a pretty good anti-nausea med. If it's not working for you, you should let your doctor know, the dose may be able to be adjusted. Also, get ginger root, dried ginger or ginger tincture. These will be much more effective than gingerale. Doses for nausea are: - 250 mg of dried...
  6. Have you considered other unrelated GI disorders? Gallbladder/Gallstones? Diverticulitis? Pancreatitis? You may want to see your doc for some blood work.
  7. Angie: I've been using Betty Hagman's Bread Recipe - I think you can find it in the recipe section of this website. You need a bread machine to make it, because the dough is very thin. I've made a couple of changes to the recipe which I think make it better: 1) use buttermilk instead of the 1 cup milk plus 1 tsp vinegar (make sure your brand of...
  8. Thank you, everyone for your responses. I will cut out the oats for good. I am sad, because she loves oatmeal and is such a picky eater. She has been asking for a bowl of oatmeal all week; fortunately I've been able to distract her with something else. Does anyone know if Oats purchased in Europe or the UK are less likely to be contaminated? I've read...
  9. Hello: I am new here. I have enjoyed reading everyone's posts and am learning a lot. My 3 yo daughter has been gluten free for 9 months. I have been letting her have oatmeal, which she loves, because I read several research articles saying that oats seem to be okay in celiac kids diets. Now I am wondering if she is getting contaminated oats. She...
  10. We use the 365 Brand which is manufactured for Whole Foods Market. It's a chain of health food stores - I think mostly in the South. They don't have any artificial flavors or colors either. Both my kids love them.
