  1. Hey Gang- Well, did it again. Ate something (though I'm still investigating exactly what IT is) that has gluten in it, and I'm paying for it. What I don't understand is that I've been incredibly careful. But I do know, after living with this for almost 12 years now, that being extremely careful is no guarantee. I've noticed from reading the boards...
  2. Great idea on the lists, I've often thought about doing that as well. I find that as the day goes on the fatigue tends to go away a bit and I feel a little better, especially after I eat. But usually by the late afternoon I'm so tired that I can barely walk. Then i get a small second wind later at night. Question for everyone, does getting more than...
  3. Morning y'all! Battling fatigue and muscle weakness this morning. It's been coming and going over the past couple weeks. I've been gluten-free for over a month, and I know its still early, but it feels like I wax and wane a bit. Some days I can make it through to the end of the day before I get wore out, other days like today I'm exhausted right out of...
  4. I'm done with the cheating. In fact, as I told my wife this morning, there are so many great alternatives out there now that I almost don't have to. For example, we had lunch at red Robin and I had a burger with a Gluten free bun. Yum! Also, since I've kicked the gluten completely, I've stopped craving processed foods like I used to and I "feel" thinner ...
  5. Thanks for sharing the links Karen, really appreciate the help! =)
  6. Karen, I can't say that I've treated my body well over the past several years, but it hasn't been on purpose. I think it's easy to see that there has been a bit of denial on my part, especially since the symptoms would disappear for months on end. I could get away with eating whatever I wanted because there were no consequences. The other part of was lack...
  7. Thanks Amelia. Everyday is a battle right now, just looking forward to the little victories that keep me going to the next the day. I'd give anything just to be "normal" for a day, you know what I mean. BTW - Love the hot water bottle idea, I might have to try that one! lol =)
  8. Hi All, I haven't posted in a while, which is a reflection in part on how I've treated this horrible disease. I was diagnosed a few years back, and since then have been able to tolerate all my favorite wheat products (at least for a while) without really getting sick. I would fool myself into thinking I was eating gluten free, and would ignore little things...
  9. Update: 6 days in and I am starting to regain my energy and appetite. Feeling much better today, despite getting up at 3:30 am to take care of a sick toddler. Finally feeling like I'm on the upswing. It's incredibly scarey how sick I was feeling the past week or so, amazing how our bodies can react so violently!
  10. Hi all! Per my last topic, had a bit of a lapse in judgment for the past couple weeks and ate a little bit here and there when I shouldn't have. Well, it hit me pretty about a week ago and now I am fatigued with a little bit of GI issues, nothing serious though in that department. Just the overwhelming fatigue, almost like being sick without the sick ...
  11. Thanks Marylin. I think with me, it's still sinking in how serious this can be and that cheating on my diet is not going to work. I wonder if I'm becoming more sensitive to gluten after knocking it out for a spell?
  12. Hello all, I'm new to the Celiac family and having a rough week. I got a little lazy and allowed myself to eat small amounts of gluten last week, and the week before. I thought that since I really haven't had it bad, that my body would be ok with a corn dog here, or a small cheeseburger here. Well, the fatigue gradually began to build to the point now...
  13. Hi! I haven't been diagnosed, but we have very high suspicions that I am probably Celiac, as is my 3 year old son. Let's start with me: 39 year-old male that had a serious illness back in 2001. Doctors called it IBS, but it lasted a good four months. I had lots of D, stomach cramps, loss of appetite, lost about 45 pounds, and EXTREME fatigue. I should...
