  1. Hi, I had my endoscopy and colonoscopy a couple days ago. Ever since then, I've been seeing a lot of undigested food in my stools. Can the laxatives still be in my system somehow? Or maybe taking biopsys screws up the digestion temporarily? Hopefully goes away, just wondering if anyone else had this problem. Thanks
  2. if you are not already doing so, you should try taking sublingual methylcobalamin (b12) everyday, make sure that all of it dissolves in your mouth (under your tongue), instead of chewing it up i found that it definately had some positive effects on my sleep
  3. Hey guys, Finally got my endoscopy and colonoscopy today and am starting gluten free now. The procedure was pretty relaxing like other have said - I don't remember anything! The prep for the colonoscopy was difficult but not as bad as I had imagined. I'm currently trying to figure out what new cookware to get. I was wondering if you guys could look...
  4. thanks for the replies guys, seems like i will be getting new items for my own use - kitchenware is more expensive than i thought!
  5. I'm planning on getting a new non-stick pan for my gluten-free diet starting next week. Should I be sharing my pan with my roommates? I think I'm definately gonna say no pasta or wheat flour items in the pan, but what if its used to cook something with soy sauce - so a very small amount of wheat. Also, is it necessary to wash gluten and non-gluten dishes...
  6. Hi, For those of you that asked your GI doctor to take a certain number of samples during the biopsy - did they agree to it? I think my physician said during my appointment that they usually take four, I'm thinking about asking him to take more like 6 or 8. Also, should I ask him ahead of time, or on the day of my procedure? I'm guessing before, but am...
  7. Hi, I'm planning on going gluten free after a couple weeks (when my biopsy is done). I am wondering if anyone out there uses a rice cooker to steam other food items (its extremely useful!). The reason I ask is that I am going to be living with other gluten eaters and sometimes the rice cooker will be used to steam gluten containing foods. Is it ok if I...
  8. Thanks guys. I know what you mean. There are just moments that I freak out with all the symptoms, but I can definately hang in there for a few more weeks - others have had it much worse than me.
  9. Hey guys, So I was tested a month ago with Quest and got a positive AGA and a negative TTG, with a normal total IGA. After reading about the many false negatives, I decided to go through private testing and ordered myself a comprehensive Celiac panel with LabCorp through privatemdlab - I got my blood drawn a couple of days ago and got the results back...
  10. Was the itching right after you ate something? And what was the food group?
  11. Does anyone know why my scalp is super itchy whenever its kind of hot/warm or I'm eating something spicy? I also get itching over my body - but not too bad. I know that seems like a normal reaction - I use to get it, but now its amplified like 3 or 4 times. There no bumps or red spots, so doesn't seem like any skin condition - but its definately gotten worse...

That sounds awesome. Hope you continue to be happy and healthy! Could you describe the knee pain? My mom have has it for many, many years, I'm wondering if its food that affecting her. Its crazy to hear about how food affects people so much...I wish everyone in this world could eat the appropriate foods - would eliminate a lot of mental and physical...
  13. I haven't yet been tested for everything so I'm still on a gluten diet. I'm wondering if you guys have any strategies for coping with the brain fog - anything I can take to help? I'm having such a horrible time concentrating or remembering things I read or people say to me. I'm pretty worried about my upcoming midterms as I don't absorb any of the stuff I...
  14. So I saw a gastroenterologist this past week about getting additional testing for Celiac. He said it was very unlikely I would have it as my TTG was negative, but is willing to do a biopsy. He also wants to do a colonoscopy on me since I was telling him about my symptoms of D and abnormal stools over the past several months. When I mentioned my other symptoms...
  15. I've read from numerous sources that the sensitivity of TTG is >95%. My doctors keep on telling me that a false negative on TTG occurs in only 1 or 2%. According to "Seronegative Celiac Disease: Increased Prevalence with Lesser Degrees of Villous Atrophy" by Abrams, et al., however, sensitivity seems to really be around 70% clinically: TABLE 2a. SENSITIVITIES...
  16. Hmmm...I thought that AGA can be elevated by other circumstances, which is why I thought about additional testing. But I see what you guys are saying. I guess a large part of me just wants a better confirmation so I'll be strict about the diet - and also for social situations with friends and family. I guess another option I have is to get tested with Prometheus...
  17. Hi, I was finally able to book an appointment with a gastrointestinal doctor after explaining my symptoms to my primary care doctor. With my current insurance plan, they are not allowing me to see doctors outside my university health center unless I am referred and the procedure cannot be done there. So, currently I am stuck with an appointment which is...
  18. Hi, I plan on starting a gluten free diet in two weeks, after all my testing. I'm looking for some comprehensive guides of what to do in order to avoid cross contamination, and other tips to make eating easier. I tried searching through the forum but had difficulty finding a good thread. I want to purchase a book to act as a guide for me: I was thinking...
  19. I just scheduled an appointment with a gastro in SF for February 10th, so three more weeks of eating gluten for me. Hopefully I can get the biopsy that week after. I've been looking online and it seems that the only preparation needed is to continue to eat gluten and avoid certain medications (which I don't take). It's scary each time I eat gluten, knowing...
  20. Thanks for the advice. I will go ahead and request further testing and a biopsy. From all I have reading so far, it seems that I am either Celiac or have gluten sensitivity (if my other tests come out negative) - as I do not have severe gastrointestinal symptoms or weight loss but a lot of neurological symptoms. I just had a pastry after attempting to be...
  21. Hi everyone, I am looking for some advice on what step to take next in regards to a Celiac diagnosis. I have been dealing with many symptoms for over a year now - brain fog, poor sleep, fatigue, muscle weakness, joint pain, random pains in the body including hands and feet and back, tingling and numbness, frequent hypoglycemia, feeling cold, elevated TSH...
  22. Hi, Does anyone know any good Kaiser doctors in Northern California? I'm hoping to get my mom tested for Celiac, and she has Kaiser. Thanks
  23. Hi everyone, I have had persisting health issues for over a year now, and recently asked my doctor to get tested for Celiac for the following: Anti-gliadin antibodies (AGA) both IgA and IgG Anti-endomysial antibodies (EMA) - IgA Anti-tissue transglutaminase antibodies (tTG) - IgA Total IgA level I was wondering if anyone had experience with testing...
  24. Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone had experience with an elimination diet that included trace amounts of gluten/other allergen which improved their symptoms. Trace amounts as in soy sauce/other substances containing gluten in small amounts. I have recently been suspecting that a food allergy is possibly causing symptoms which I have been experiencing...
