  1. Yeah, the tostada is the main dish that they list as ok. I did some research, and people on this board had mentioned being able to eat it, but I also saw posts that said the meat is seasoned with gluten. So I ordered it with no meat (and no sour cream, because I don't like it anyway) and got tomatoes instead and I was fine. It's of course up to you, though...
  2. I am new to this but I can't imagine not being able to eat out, because it's a big part of my social life, and I'm also part of a family who eats out at least once a week and I don't want to not be a part of that. So far I've eaten at 2 local breakfast restaurants where I've had omelets and been ok (that seems to be a safe option that I'll stick to whenever...
  3. Hmm, Maybe I do have some kind of issue with dairy, then? I really don't drink milk, but I've been ok with cheese and ice cream. The stomach pain was definitely from this, because I foolishly took a very small bite of what was left in the container after I was feeling better and boom, there it came back again. I guess the bottom line is that I just need to...
  4. I had one tonight and the horrible stomach pain started within minutes, just like when I eat gluten. I really don't think I'm lactose intolerant because I haven't had any stomach pain from dairy before. Anyone else have a problem with these?
  5. Your knee pain sounds kind of like mine. My left knee has been hurting for over a year now, and my right for over 6 months. I have tried everything for it and nothing has touched the pain, and I've seen many different doctors who've all eventually said that I shouldn't still be in pain, but they don't know how to help me so they've let me go. But I also different...
  6. Thanks for posting this. That makes so much sense. I was wondering why I was so hungry, and now I understand I'm not crazy. I figured I would probably adjust eventually, but it's good to know that it's common and I'm not the only one who's always hungry.
  7. I'm glad I could help Even if you're celiac tests came back negative, you still might be gluten intolerant. That's what I figure for myself, so I started going off gluten while I'm waiting for the biopsy results and I'm already noticing some improvements. I really hope you start feeling better soon!
  8. I commend anyone who wants to help other people by opening a gluten-free bakery. Best of luck! A new gluten-free cafe and bakery just opened in town nearby mine. I'm really excited! I'm going to go there in the next couple days to check it out. Here's their website if it helps: Open Original Shared Link

    ARCHIVED Day 1

I'm new to this too, and I know how you feel, sometimes it gets so overwhelming. The hardest part for me, I think, will be my family. I am a college student who commutes so I still live at home, and the rest of my family can eat gluten. My mom has been pretty supportive so far, but she keeps telling me things like, "I'm sure you can have small amounts every...
  10. Ok, I had my endoscopy/colonoscopy yesterday. I took your advice and kept eating gluten all the way through. The doctor who did the procedures has never seen me, but he said they took a lot of biopsies. I have to wait until May 3rd to follow up with my doctor though (who has also never seen me, just his PA) and get the results. The nurse said they found some...
  11. Yeah, I realized that was probably not a good idea. What if I tried going gluten-free for 3 days to see how it goes, and then start eating gluten again until the procedures. That way I would be off for 3 days and back on for 10 days. Would that be ok?
  12. My symptoms first started after knee surgery. At first I thought the nausea was from the narcotics I took for a week after, but then it wasn't going away, and more symptoms started. I kind of ignored them for awhile, but when I started getting really bad stomach pain after eating and the diarrhea and constipation got worse, I knew I couldn't just keep living...
  13. I saw the GI's PA today (they asked if I was ok with it and I said yes). He was really nice and took the time to make sure he understood all my symptoms. The blood tests I had done came back normal, but with my allergies, asthma, and being prone to sinus infections, I guess there's a good chance of a false negative. So two weeks from today I'm having both...
  14. That's really encouraging to hear. I talked to my physical therapist yesterday about the possibility of me having celiac disease, and she said it could definitely be contributing to my pain. She seemed kind of relieved, honestly, because she's been treating me on and off since July 2009, and I'm still in lots of pain. So I don't know, I don't have the blood...
  15. Thanks for the advice. I finally went in to see my GP today, because I needed a referral from her first, and the first thing she said after I told her my symptoms was "it sounds like celiac disease". She said there's also a chance it could be the beginning stages of colitis as well. I made an appointment with a GI, but it isn't for a week and half. My doctor...
