  1. I love DD coffee, it doesn't make me sick so much as it makes me 'loose' if you know what I mean. This is not always a bad thing, however, but I was worrying that it may have gluten. I make it at home so it's not cross contaminated. Other coffee doesn't have the same drastic effect but does seem to be sort of a 'stimulant to the system'.
  2. I know this is an old post and I hate to be the bearer of bad news...but...I recently was at IKEA and looked at their nutrition binder for something there that I could eat (it is available upon request) and the almond tortes contain WHEAT STARCH! I was very upset because they prominently display that they are GLUTEN FREE! I pointed it out to the cashier who...
  3. Just like 'One man's trash is another man's treasure'. I have friends that are allergic to nuts and strawberries. I'm glad that I can eat those cause I love'em! I may get pretty sick eating gluten, but at least I don't have to worry about a deadly allergic reaction sending me to the hospital or something.
  4. Unfortunately, there is no shortage of sweets that are gluten free. I eat Snickers, 3 Muskateers, Reeses PB Cups, Starburst, Skittles, M&M's, Smarties, Tootsie Rolls. I also gained 50 pounds in one year after being diagnosed. I've lost 10 of those now, 40 more to go. My advice is to stay away from the sweets because your body is in starvation mode and...
  5. Wow, what a great Mom!
  6. Since they kind of expect me to actually fill the bowl with the bags from the store, I'm just ignoring the bags in the closet until someone actually tells me to do it. (Passive aggresive is one of my strongest traits) Then I think I will move to bowl to the small table in the entry area betweeen the 2 chairs for guests. Of course all the candy is gluten free...
  7. Okay, more pity please. I am a Receptionist/Accounting Assistant and I sit at the front desk. Our owner/managers keep filling the candy bowl which sits, guess where, two feet in front of me. A lot of the candy is gluten free, but after gaining 50 pounds since being diagnosed 1 1/2 years ago, candy is really not what I need. I know that I am not the only...
  8. Well, of course I am not even tempted to eat any of the gluten stuff. It's just hard to have to be around it and so much in one day. Everyone here that knows is very understanding and never make fun or give me a hard time at all. Actually, when I heat up my Amy's frozen Indian Food lunches, it makes them all hungry because it smells so good. It's just depressing...
  9. Today at work one of the bosses brought in 5 boxes of doughnuts and leaves them one the coffee/snack table for everyone. How nice! Then at lunch, orders lunch for everyone, Subs! How thoughtful!
