  1. I, too, would love to have a good flourless chocolate cake recipe, so I hope someone has a great recipe for one. As far as carrot cake is concerned, I made my first one last weekend. I used the recipe from Pamelas Products (pamelasproducts.com), and you basically use her regular baking mix and some other common products. Note: I used baby food carrots...
  2. Hi, everyone--I'm trying to get my local Kroger to carry Mission's Corn Tortillas, as they carry the flour and low carb ones. They are requesting the UPC for them (they state specifically the UPC for the refrigerated ones), and I searched Mission's website and couldn't find it. If anyone has them in their home, would you mind posting the UPC? I would greatly...
  3. I just wanted to pass along the good news: I've been looking for gluten-free juice drinks, so I emailed Welch's: they both emailed me AND sent me a letter--with coupons!--saying that all of their products are gluten-free, so I'm assuming that means their jellies and fruit snacks, too!
  4. Great, Kaiti--thanks for posting their response!
  5. Great! I just love companies like this (so far, Kraft is the only one I completely trust about being thorough with the labels), so it's nice to hear that Breyer's falls in this category. This will be my first gluten-free spring and summer, so I'm looking forward to having my lactose-free fix every day! Thanks for the help, Kaiti!
  6. First, in case anyone was unaware (I know I was!), Edy's website lists which products are gluten-free--and there are quite a few (several are dairy-free, too)! I just emailed them asking about CC issues, so hopefully they will write back soon. However, I also have a question: I'm lactose intolerant, and before going gluten-free I used to eat Breyer's...
  7. Thanks everyone for your help! I like to make my own sauces, so it's nice to know that Contadina appears to be gluten-free. Thanks again for all the help--I just love this board!
  8. I, too, am in the search for a great gluten-free blondie recipe. In the meantime, if you have a Whole Foods with a gluten-free bakery near you, they make blondies. They are pretty good (I would microwave them for a bit and add some soy icecream on top, and that made them even better )--theirs have nuts in them, and I'm not a huge nut fan. If anyone...
  9. I use Argo cornstarch without any problems--their website is really helpful, and they have some great recipes on there, too!
  10. Thanks for the offers of help! Going off the ingredients alone, I think they are gluten-free--I'm mostly worried about CC issues. Tomato paste ingredients: tomatoes (thus, I'm assuming this one's fine ) Sauce ingredients: tomato puree (water, tomato paste), salt, high fructose corn syrup, citric acid, garlic powder, onion powder, spices ...
  11. I'm trying my hand at my first gluten-free lasagna (yipes!), and as it's the weekend, there's no one at Contadina's phone #--I've bought their diced tomatoes, paste, and sauce because I've heard they are gluten-free. Does anyone know for sure if these Contadina products are gluten-free? Thanks for any help anyone has!
  12. I have horribly dry hands (to the point where they will crack and bleed), and I just started using Neutrogena's Body Lotion. It's not specifically for hands, and before going gluten-free, I've used better lotions for my hands, but I know this is gluten-free and I just apply it a couple of times a day--it's also very light, so a little goes a long way, which...
  13. Kaiti (or anyone else who knows), you mentioned Vitamin E having wheat sometimes. I heard this for the first time recently, so now I'm paranoid about buying anything with Vitamin E, just in case it's wheat derived. Do you know how common this is? Would the company (if they are semi-gluten-free friendly) have to declare the Vitamin E is wheat derived? ...
  14. Yippee! I'm getting tired of drinking only water and soy milk, and soda doesn't seem to like me anymore since going gluten-free (too much acid and carbonation). Thanks for the responses!
  15. I eat the Very Berry Enjoy Life granola and have no problem with the coconut taste, so maybe the berry taste overwhelms the coconut taste because I won't normally touch coconut with a ten foot pole!
  16. I emailed Gatorade to see if their products are gluten-free: their response: none of products list GLUTEN as an ingredient. So.....does that mean that they don't understand that gluten is in wheat, oats, barley, rye, natural flavors, food starch, etc.? Or does anyone happen to know if Gatorade is gluten-free for sure?
  17. Elainegl--You're not alone! I hate coconut, too! I eat the Enjoy Life granola, which has coconut as an ingredient and that made me wary, but I can say that I don't taste the coconut at all. Hopefully the Ener-G granola is the same way.
  18. I've never tried Malt-O-Meal cereals before; do they put their gluten-free cereals on separate lines to avoid cross contamination issues? If so, I'll have to try them out before they put wheat in them!
  19. I'm having a problem finding gluten-free corn tortillas in my area. I know Mission corn tortillas are gluten-free, but they're no longer sold here (all they sell here now are flour tortillas and low-carb ones, *sigh*). Does anyone know of any widely sold gluten-free corn tortillas that are put on dedicated lines to eliminate CC problems? Thanks!
  20. I love this thread, as I'm finding out all kinds of great things to take on the go, a problem that I've had a lot lately because my friends and family like to eat out, and I need something to take with me. Question: I've never tried the Genisoy bars, and I love peanut butter, so that one sounds great. I'm extremely sensitive to gluten, so are these bars...
  21. Thanks to everyone for your helpful tips. I used to eat out a lot, prediagnosis, and now I'm so afraid to eat anywhere, so it's nice to know that people have good experiences. Now I can look forward to eating fresh seafood without worrying (well, without worrying too much ) Thanks again!
  22. I believe Soy Delicious products are gluten free (not all of them, though, as some have cookies and such in them). I think they are owned by Turtle Mountain, which you can find on the web (it may be turtlemountain.com). I've been eating their products for several nights a week since I went gluten-free in Dec. and have been fine (and I'm very sensitive...
  23. This will be my first time I have travelled far from home since going gluten-free. I'm going to the Outer Banks/VA Beach area over Easter and wondered if I can pretty much guarantee that crab legs would be gluten-free, as long as I bring my own butter (would I have to bring my own butter?). Any thoughts on that? Or, thoughts on other seafood or easy restaurant...
  24. I wanted to add that though the Clean Lash Tint is on Neutrogena's gluten-free list, it is NOT gluten-free--listed plain as day is "hydrolized wheat protein." Unfortunately, I just took their list at face value and didn't realize this until I bought the product and brought it home--luckily I double-checked the ingredients just in case. But, I wanted to...
  25. Oh, I love Burt's Bees! I use their chapstick. Thanks for the suggestion--I'll give them a try, too!
