  1. Sorry about your symptoms. I'm having the same with the exception of the nausea and I, too, had a negative blood result. I was handed a dx for IBS and a script for meds. And despite my gastro just doubling my med dosage, I'm still having no relief from symptoms. I know your frustration. After reading this forum for a few weeks, I decided to order...
  2. I'm sorry, I don't know about the thyroid condition or the tests you're talking about. But, I wanted to tell you that my hair fell out steadily and in large quantities from 3 months post-partum until 9 months post-partum with both of my kids. I am an admin on a mommy message board and it's been a frequent topic. That time frame seems to be the norm for...
  3. misslexi, thank you SO MUCH for taking the time to reply like that. I really appreciate it. Seeing an sort-of overview of what a gluten-free diet looks like makes it less overwhelming.
  4. I have taken antibiotics recently but it was after the problems started. Unfortuantely, I take antiobiotics 1-3 times a year because I get UTIs frequently. Been that way since puberty. I've had bladder/urethral surgery and that helped for a while but not since I've been an adult and having babies. All of the antibiotics I've taken in my life and I've...
  5. Thank you so much! I feel like I've spent hours on here already and I haven't even looked in the recipes forum yet. My other obstacle is going to be my husband. Since I tested negative on the celiac panel my gastro ran, he doesn't understand switching to such an extreme diet "just to see." He thinks I should just see another gastro. As...
  6. I'm having a bad, bad day. The stomach pains have been TERRIBLE for 3 days in a row. No "D" but I am in serious discomfort from the top of my midsection to the bottom, back and front. It sucks. My Enterolab test was shipped yesterday and should be here in a few days. I'm reading and researching gluten-free with every moment of spare time so I...
  7. No, I don't have a smart phone. Probably last person on Earth not to. But, I do have an iPod Touch and can get most iPhone apps on there. I'd just need Wifi if it needs to be connected to the internet to use. I guess what I'm asking for is a basic guide to get me started. What are some of your fav meals and snacks? Breakfast will...
  8. Oh this makes me so happy to hear! Like I said, I love the store and their labeling system will surely make this transition easier. Thanks everyone for the replies! And I'm interested in the review of Elisabeth Hasselbeck. I like her as a celebrity figure so I was drawn to grab her book first. Easy read too, I only got it around 6pm last...
  9. I am a loyal Wegmans customer and it's where I do 95% of the shopping for my family. I love love love Wegmans! I buy many store-brand items and have always noticed the L, G, V, and other wellness labels on the packaging. Now that I'm going gluten-free and learning to read labels, I'm curious about what constitutes Gluten-Free according to Wegman's. ...
  10. Hi! I'm hoping somebody can point me in the right direction. I'm anxiously awaiting the arrival of my Enterolab tests and as soon as I send that package off, I'm going gluten-free. Committing to it is not a problem for me. Doesn't scare me a bit. But the thought of actually getting started....actually shopping for the first time and that first...
  11. That's my plan, Becca. Thanks. I didn't want to eliminate gluten yet because of the testing but after I send the test kit back to Entero Lab, I'm going to give gluten-free a try for 3 months. Not that I'm hoping to be Celiac, but I am hoping for an answer. I'm going to be so pissed if I can't find a reason and I really do just have IBS. I don't...
  12. I'm not experiencing exactly what you are although there is some similarity. My symptoms started after what I think was a stomach virus or food poisoning. I had violent diarrhea for hours, really similar to the bowel prep for a colonoscopy. That was in December and it hasn't been right since. I am dealing with constipation and diarrhea. Although I must...
  13. Okay, I just got a (very unhelpful) call back from the nurse. She said Labcorp did a "Celiac Panel" that included IGA, IGG and tissue transglutaminase. She said all it says is that the values for the panel are 0-3 and I am a 1. According to her, there are no values for each individual thing. I asked her to put a copy of the results in the mail to me...
  14. Neroli, thank you for your reply. That is the first I ever heard of polyps being a sign of gluten intolerance. In the recovery room after my colonoscopy, my Dr. came in to tell me what he saw and inform me of the polyps. All he said was "you're too young for polyps" like he was puzzled. I went home and researched colon polyps and was pretty scared, even...
  15. Thank you for your replies. I wondered about other food allergies and I think I will call in the morning and set up an appt with an allergist/immunologist. I guess going that route first and having it covered by insurance is better than grasping at straws and putting money out-of-pocket for the Enterolab test(s). I am just so frustrated and so baffled...
  16. Ugh. I don't even know if this is the right site to post on but after reading around a bit it seems that many members have, at one time, not known what was wrong with them but knew something wasn't right. I am 27 years old and have been healthy almost all of my life, aside from a tendency to get frequent UTIs. In mid-December I got sick. It...
