  1. DH and I are taking the kids to the boardwalk tomorrow afternoon. (Unless, of course, my body decides to have D tomorrow. ) We will be just walking the boardwalk, taking them on rides, playing games. This will be our first outing since my dietary restrictions. NO: fried foods gluten dairy I'm pretty sure there will be nothing available...
  2. I heard this about her wedding also but heard the Chelsea was the one. I heard she's gluten intolerant and vegan.
  3. Thanks for the replies! Again, this is such a helpful place. Today will be my first trip to the grocery store with the "dairy free" label added to myself. I know I'll need something to take in about 10 days when AF rears her ugly head. The cramps are killer. I rarely get heartburn but I did the other day and didn't have anything besides Tums...
  4. I started doing a search for these individually but the forum yields so many results, it takes a long time to go through them. Maybe someone who already has the hang of this knows off the top of their head? I don't take meds regularly but need to occasionally. I was wondering if the following were gluten-free (and dairy free, if you know....
  5. thanks again for all of the replies. My headaches and nausea only lasted 4 or 5 days. I am around 2.5 weeks gluten-free now and have noticed my BMs calming down a bit and my energy has picked up a little. But I still have a stomach ache 24/7. If I wake up at 2am for some reason, I have terrible pains. Luckily I sleep through it most of the time....
  6. I bought a package of Pamela's chocolate chunk cookies 2 or 3 weeks ago when I did my first gluten-free shopping trip. I am a cookie monster but have yet to open the package because how good could they be? They don't look good at all. Yum! Yum! Yum! I just tried one and it's awesome! Thank you, Pamela's!!
  7. thanks again for all of the suggestions! kayo, thank you for taking the time to type that all out. i did not show a reaction to casein on my enterolab tests. should i go for lactose free or dairy free?
  8. Thanks for all of your replies! This forum is quickly becoming one of my favorite places on the net because the knowledge, suggestions, and help are great. I was really hoping that cutting out gluten would make me feel tons better. I'm starting to get discouraged and upset that maybe my doc is right and I really do just have IBS-PI. I had just...
  9. Grrr. Stupid food. Okay, I've been gluten-free for a little over 2 weeks. I am feeling a little better but still have an all-day stomach ache, every day. I haven't had but 1 day of D and have been taking Fibercon to combat the C. (Prior to be gluten-free, I was on a cycle of 3 to 4 days of C, then 1 day of D, and so on and so on.) I've weaned...
  10. Hi! I'm new here so I don't know much but I wanted to offer support. It sounds like you're having a terrible time. I'm the opposite in that all of my symptoms have been in my gut but I can relate because I feel like it's ruined my life for the last several months. I hope that you get answers soon and can get on the road to feeling better!
  11. I'm on day 5 of being gluten free and I've been having headaches each evening. Headaches are rare for me so it's either gluten withdrawal or a result of eating less. Prior to being gluten-free, I would frequently snack and now it's not as easy as walking in the kitchen and grabbing whatever I want. (I'm the only one gluten-free in the house.) I stocked...
  12. You're prepared! You'll do great. Enjoy the party!
  13. Boo on those headaches! Just reminds me to be thankful that I don't get them often! I'm so glad to hear that you dealt with it for a week or under. I was afraid of how long this would last. I thought it was strange that I had the nausea because that hasn't been one of my symptoms these past 7 months. I hope that doesn't stick around too long...
  14. Is there such a thing? I have been gluten-free for 3 or 4 days. I have had a nasty, nasty headache each evening. I rarely ever get headaches. I've also been feeling a little nauseous. Is this typical?
  15. Nice to know! Thanks for sharing.
  16. I canceled it. I am just really, really eager to try and see if I'll feel better gluten-free. If I do, I'm 100% okay calling myself gluten intolerant and avoiding the stuff like the plague. And maybe it's luck or the fact that my husband and I speak up if needed, but our family rarely gives us problems with anything. Nobody can force me to eat...
  17. Thank you for your replies. I'm not worried about cheating on the diet if I do it and symptoms resolve. If I can feel like my normal self again, I'll never touch gluten as long as I live. These last 7 months have been horrible. I can count on one hand the number of days that I wasn't in pain. My life has almost stopped, I lay around and barely...
  18. To make a long story short, I've been sick daily for 7 months. GI says post-infectious IBS. Celiac panel negative, colonoscopy looked good. Enterolab test shows positive for antibodies. When I brought it to the GI, he suggested we do the endoscopy before I go gluten-free. I agreed, but I'm still 3 weeks out from my appointment for the biopsy and I'm...
  19. Well, in case any one is interested, I had my GI follow-up the other day. I brought the Enterolab results in. He said, "Well, I can't use this to diagnose you but I think that it would be a good idea to do the biopsy." He stated that he does have patients who are blood & biopsy negative but have symptoms disappear on the gluten-free diet and he supports...
  20. Thanks Nora! The gene stuff is really confusing. So, I've been hearing people say they're DQ2 or DQ8 (those are the main ones, right?) or double DQ5 or whatever. So what am I? I am just DQ7?
  21. I don't think so. That's a stool test, right? I'm sure I can ask for that this week when I go.
  22. Hey everyone! A little background: I got sick and my symptoms began in December. Gastro ran celiac panel at my request - negative. Colonoscopy was normal (but had 2 polyps removed) and showed no signs of Crohn's, colitis, etc. Doctor dx'ed me with IBS-PI and prescribed Librax. I've been miserable daily for 6 months. For my first post...
  23. This is interesting. My pee doesn't smell after eating asparagus. My husband's always does and it makes him laugh like a 10 yr old. Waiting on my Enterolab results right now.... Soon as I get them I'm going gluten-free (I'm waiting just in case of a positive and my doc wanting to do a biopsy) and then I'm going to revisit this topic after eating...
  24. I could have written this same post. I've been having trouble for 6 months also, although mine all started with a virus/tummy bug. I haven't been the same since. Also had the IBS dx and the colonoscopy. As well as negative celiac results from the blood tests. My gastro has me on Librax and some days it helps, most days it doesn't. I am still not convinced...
