  1. Hello, Why is it that my Profile photo is not visible when I post Something. Do I need to change a certain setting, if so what setting is that? thanks
  2. The biopsy is more accurate for diagnosing celiac disease than the blood test and it also gives the doctor and patient a better idea of how much damage has been done to the intestine (villi) due to the consumption of gluten. That being said, if little damage is visible at the time of the biopsy, that doesn't mean that six months down the road that the...
  3. GI issues and feel very tired
  4. For those that have an intolerance to corn, is the problem solely with Corn flour, or including Corn starch and corn syrup also?
  5. Well, if you are just looking at what is commonly eaten in a North American diet then yes it wouldn't leave much. But for example places in Asia eat little dairy, corn or gluten. It is more work to have this diet and it does involve looking beyond just the foods that we have grown up eating. There is a whole other world of fabulous food out there that we...
  6. Have any of you ever tried acupuncture to relieve symptoms (as a temporary measure)? It was an acupuncturist that noticed things relating to my digestion that no western medicine doctor had.
  7. 3 tbsp of flax seed (ground up fresh in my coffee grinder) with a glass of water works well for me. I need to remember to drink plenty of water throughout the day or the flax seed will cause the opposite effect that I am looking for.
  8. Hi Coolclimates, If you are willing to try then I highly recommend cutting out both dairy and corn... those two are not good for me, in addition to gluten. But unfortunately most commercial gluten free baking uses corn. Giving up dairy could make a big difference. I can tell when I have accidentally eaten something that had dairy in it because I need...
  9. ratemds.com is a good place to review doctors as well if you aren't sure where to start.
  10. Where I live, a benefit of having medical proof that you are celiac is that you can get money back from the government for gluten-free food that you have bought, if you save your receipts of course. Maybe you have something like that in your area?
  11. Thanks for sharing. I feel for you both. What is this enterolabs.com thing about? Is it gene testing? I have heard that when someone is Celiac that they need to get all new cutting boards, cookie sheets, new toaster, etc... Rdunbar, do you drink coffee? Could that be possibly adding to the DH?
  12. A lady I know drinks only distilled or boiled water and she notices a big difference. She gets sick with tap water.
  13. Food effects our hormones, which effect our mood and whole body. I did not have severe symptoms, uncomfortable, but nothing very serious when I went for my testing in France (I don't know what the test is called in North America). I was bloated and feeling very tired (gluten and casine[milk] were the culprits). When I got the test results the doctor was...
  14. I didn't read all posts, so someone may have already said this... But I seriously question how non GMO can be proven... if a bird finds a seed in a GMO field, flys over an organic field and drops the seed then it is already contaminated.. If you ever see 100% organic on honey it is completely false advertising... bees fly a long distance.. and we have...
  15. Is your doctor a GastroInterologist or a family doctor? Family doctors are generally not trained to know very much about diet.
  16. It can take your intestine 3 months to heal after a very small amount of gluten. If you are on Meds, make sure and tell your pharmacist and ask if the meds you are on contain gluten or casine. Raw, unpasteurized sauerkraut is also a source of good bacteria, and is lactose free, and a heck of a lot cheaper than probiotics in pill or liquid form. Have you...

    ARCHIVED Corn :(

Corn in Europe was always grown to feed animals, not to feed humans... A GI doctor in Seattle actually said that none of us should be eating corn, that is a "junk food."
  18. Often Casine is in soy products... I have this problem. Soy cheese is rarely something I do.
  19. is just new to Celiacs.com! :)

  20. hello Everyone Shayre, I feel for what is going on with you- it is hard to not know what is causing the problem! I am reading a book that you can check out if you wish, it was writen 10 years ago. 'The Protein Power Lifeplan' by Michael R. Eades, MD and Mary Dan Eades, MD. I am not on a Meat/vegetables only diet- but I really like the info and explanations...
