  1. Ok, I have been really careful and good about being gluten and caisin free, but at 1pm I ate 5 corn tamales ( home made by my maid) and at 3 I started having nausea followed by cramps and diarrhea. She said she did use butter after I called to ask her ingredients, but it's hard to believe I would get such an extreme reaction. I also have gotten sick from...
  2. Thanks ravenwood! I just realized that after I posted. Wow, very helpful info.
  3. Yes, you are correct. You can have low B12 from other causes( pernicious anemia) non celiac related. You are lucky to have found a doc who is knowledgable and can give you good advice. What is his name, so I can read his publications? The problem with most doctors is that they are trained to go by only "Evidence Based" practice, meaning if it is not scientifically...
  4. I am not sure, I have been all over the Internet and consulted a fellowship trainee(md with 6 years of additional training) to answer that question for myself. She said they don't even test for gliadin ab to detect celiacs because it was not sensitive enough, meaning that asymptomatic healthy subjects also had these ab. But..... The key is to check for damage...
  5. I agree with Drued, Also, there is a lab in Dallas, Enterolab that will run fecal tTg, which will show up before blood work becomes positive. They say you can be gluten free and the test will still be sensitive( not sure if they mean sensitive to tTg or anti gluten ab) but they also do a fecal fat malabsorption test which indicates how your sm intestines...
  6. Hi there, my name is Anita. I am an MD, and have suffered "IBS" symptoms for many years before deciding to Do something about it upon worsening of my symptoms. I too had neg celiac blood work and was told gluten was not my problem. Well, when I eliminated most obvious gluten, I got better! I decided to use enterolab and I had elev IgA anti-giadin (24, normal...
  7. Finally had the enterolab done. My GI doc suspects celiac based on my symtoms, can't tolerate milk but seem ok with lactaid milk. history of anxiety attacks at same time as IBS symtoms started 25 yrs ago (only had one real panic attack, but still seems to have anxiety spells that were random) Do feel much less foggy brained and much less fatigued and much...
  8. Anyone with diagnosed celiac get these annoying corner of mouth cracks? I have had them before sometimes when I diet, sometimes not and don't know if its the gluten free diet doing it again or is it some celiac thing? Does gluten free diet not have enought vitamins? I eat plenty of veg, fruits and nuts, meats, rice, etc...One of my docs once said it was a...
  9. Hey Heidi, thanks for your relpy. I am going to do the enterolab thing. I have been doing something small with gluten every other day for fear of an episode. I have this awful crack on the side of my mouth again and excema on my eye lid again. I have had it before when I was dieting after I had my last baby, and before that as a child many times. Was told...
  10. Ok, for starters I have made several posts and gotten may questions answered. Thanks to all. And this is a great support forum. I want to say a couple of things about my reason why I think I may have celiac, or gluten intol. or not? If anyone can help, chime in.... My bouts consist of cramps, D and almost passing out from pain, w sweating, lasts about ...
  11. I can't wait to get the enterolab results, if they are neg I give up and will go back to my usual eating. If I get a return of symtoms and they come more frequent, like twice a week, then I will be convinced and stop it. Of course if they are pos I will keep on the diet. I am just sick of being hungry and grumpy. I feel so starved and have lost 5 pounds...
  12. Why does my nose itch when I chew wrigglys or any other gum? I am being worked up for celiac
  13. Thanks I ordered the enterolab test to double check. Since I have been gluten free I have had two episodes, both after accidental gluttening, corndogs and cream of tomatoe soup by cambells. I just want to be sure this is what's wrong with me, as I am starved and sick of it after just 6 weeks! I am thinking of purposely eating ritz to see what happens.
  14. Just wondering if anyone has done the saliva genetics test. My celiac panel came back neg. but I get bloating D and horrible pain when I go off the gluten diet. I just started it Aug 1 out of desperation. Am also lactose intolerant and vit d def. But no other def. My poop floats when I eat gluten and get D, yuck I know, but I think that means malabsorption...
  15. I got glutened by corn dogs on Saturday and I am still having gut all over pain but no D. Just C. And everytime I eat anything I have pain immediately following eating. Don't feel like eating, but I have to. I took some benadryl today, a half dose of children's , 12.5mg and I felt better for about four hours, the cramps completely subsided. Try that maybe...
  16. saw you post about diarrhea, I think it is the antibiotics. They take a while to give diarrhea. I'm almost sure that's what was bothering you, even if you eat yogurt, its not enough to keep from getting it. Out of curiosity, is it a fluoquinolone? Like ciprofloxacin or one of those? If so, be careful you don't have abx induced c difficile colitis.
  17. Great, ughhhh! I love corn dogs... oh well. I have been to the bathroom three times since I posted this and feel like total crap. I noticed you were self diagnosed? I am pretty much self diagnosed after noticing my cramps after pizza, crackers and cereal. But I don't believe I have the full blown celiac sprue thing. An article from Mayo says there are differences...
  18. Suffering for 25 years, non reactive celiac panel but better so much better off gluten.

  19. Does anyone know if there is gluten in corn dogs? I ate two foot long corn dogs thinking they were safe, being corn and all, and felt nauseated about 4 hours later, went to bed feeling extremely nauseated then this morning had those infamous stomach cramps-almost diarrhea episode. Thought I was doing good. When I google corn dogs, all these recipes come...
  20. My sister got allergy tested and gluten/wheat/barley were on the list of things she was allergic to. She gets bad sinus infections when she eats too much of it. And vomits. I was wondering what this if anything has to do with celiac? especially since I have IBS and feel better when I stop glutenning myself?
  21. Hi there, does anybody out there know anything about this: My older sister said 15 yrs ago, she got really sick couldn't eat withoug throwing up, and stomach upset (she thinks it was diarrhea but she can't remember) lost a bunch of weight and went to several doctors. One of them had her test for allergies and gluten was one of them, I believe it was one...
  22. Wow, thank you soooooo very much, your post made my mouth water! I did go to Pei wei out of deparation and there is an olive garden down the road. I will print off what you said and try it out!
  23. Cool! Thanks. I will go this weekend. I sat down and had a good cry today, I'm so very upset about this curse! I noticed you put hypoglycemia on your deal, whenever I eat carbs I get this rebound hunger shake thing. Once I checked my blood sugar during a spell that I almost passed out with, after I drank Orange juice and it was 53,even after the juice...
  24. Malabsorption is vey common w celiac - Its due to the damaged small bowel. I beleive that like lactose intolerance it gets better with time.
