  1. The nearest asian market or anything like that is about 2 hrs away from us! The international isle at our stores do not carry rice flour or anything like that and they don't sell things in bulk. Booo, when I was in college I could easily find markets that sold bulk items but not now.
  2. My grocery bill is getting higher and higher. I can't leave a store for less than 100 bucks anymore for a family of 5. I really need the bill to go down, somewhere around 75 bucks a week for EVERYTHING, toiletries, and anything else we made need for the household. I was thinking buying gluten free flours and grains would be cheaper in bulk online from...
  3. I am pretty sure it is, the training paste we have is. I don't think it is the same flavor as your though.
  4. Just in case baby drinks the bathwater or gets soap in her mouth durring a bath, which products for baby are gluten free? I have Johnson's bedtime bath, lavender shampoo and method baby wash.
  5. My youngest is gluten intolerant and the house has become for the most part gluten free due to contamination issues with her food. I have no problem eating gluten free for the most part because I get to learn new cooking techniques and recipes. We have had a hectic few days and I have ended up eating out a few times with dh while my youngest ate gluten free...
  6. My youngest is gluten intolerant and I have been SO careful to make sure she doesn't get gluten. I even made our home gluten free because I kept contaminating her food. Last week my dad had surgery in an out of town hospital and I was driving my mom back and forth to visit dad. My MIL watched our kids and said she bought a whole bunch of gluten free things...
  7. oh and I love turnips and parsnips. They are delicious. I do a side dish with chopped potatoes, turnips onions and garlic with mrs dash a little salt and some olive oil. Cook it up in a cast iron skillet or put the skillet on the grill, YUM!
  8. If you are trying to avoid nightshade plants you will want to avoid potatoes, peppers, tomatoes and eggplant.
  9. what do you use in place of things like cream cheese, butter, cheese, milk ect when you cook?
  10. thanks guys, I just get a little paranoid at times because it seems like they are always sick. My youngest is totally gluten free (unless someone messes up) and she gets horrible constipation and painful bm's and crankiness issues when she gets a little gluten. When she gets alot ( a whole cracker or half a piece of bread) she throws up. She has been having...
  11. My youngest is gluten intolerant and I have made the house a pretty much gluten free zone because I kept contaminating her food. My two other girls have been sick almost constantly since I did this. They do get gluten at grandma's house and when we get occasional take out. My oldest is sick right now with either a weird bug or perhaps she has become gluten...
  12. Its NOT? Wow ok, great! Its in a dang lot of foods!
  13. I found this shopping web site where you list the things you have 'gluten intolerance' or whatever and when you search foods it will tell you which ones not to buy based on your info. Well several of the 'ok' foods have MSG in them. Thats a no no right? I was trying to come up with a list of mainstream foods that are gluten free that I can buy.
  14. I bought some Louis Rich origional turkey sausage and Purnell's old folks 'No MSG'country sausage. I plan on making pizza later with one of those. I can't find if they are gluten free though. I was on Krafts web site looking because apparently Louis Rich is a Kraft food. They state that they will list any gluten containing ingredient that their foods contain...
  15. I will ask my 6 yr old whats going on. My 3 yr old is such a picky eater its rediculous. I kind of feel like I am messing up my kids diets and possibly making them sick from having mostly gluten free options in the house. Its probably not the case but its how I feel. I don't have alot of garbage food in the house, mostly home made gluten-free or some packaged...
  16. My youngest (12 months) is gluten intolerant. She isn't diagnosed, but she projectile vomits when I give her bread and she gets really cranky and cries all the time if there is alot of gluten in her diet, plus she gets really bad constipation and foul smelling stool that is very strange colors. Anyway I have been trying to keep gluten from her diet as suggested...
  17. I made some great gluten free tortillas this morning. I told my husband we would have chicken enchelada's for dinner or burritos and then I though, oh crud, I don't know where to find gluten-free tortillas! So I made some and they were great! If I had rolled the dough thicker I think they would make a great pita like bread too. I used bobs red mill flour...
  18. They are labled gluten free. Maybe she is having trouble with oats. I have given her oatmeal several times and she has had issues but I though it was the milk I put in it. I left out the milk this time and I thought it was the contaminated flour. Maybe its oats too. So no more oats for a while so we can see.
  19. Basically as soon as my daughter started eating gerber puffs (now including wheat flour), bits of cracker, bread and pasta bits we have had endless crankiness, screaming fits, temper fits, painful bm's that are either hard, or normal consistancy but still painful, 3-9 days between bm's, rashes, and funny colored foul smelling poo (greyish white-whiteish yellow...
  20. I am going to call her pedi on monday and see who he reccomends for testing for celiac. I didn't see our regular doc last time, just the nurse practitioner. He is a nice guy and I am sure we can figure something out. Its just frustrating. I thought for sure he'd do some sort of blood test but he didn't. He seemed fine with the fact that celiac doesn't...
  21. I took her to the allergist today. He did a full panel of tests, both food and environmental. (scratch test) and she is allergic to NOTHING he tested her for! So very frustrating. He asked if anyone in our family had celiac disease and I told him not to my knowege. He said bring her back in 3 months and they will test again and to not feed her problem foods...
  22. Our family doc beleived me when I said I thought my daughter had gluten inolerance as well as dairy problem. He set us up with an allergist for tomorrow morning. What questions should I ask? What tests should I ask for? She is currently gluten free (or pretty much unless I make a mistake).
  23. Are there any? I bought some bob's red mill gluten free bread mix and made it today. It was really 'meeh', disapointing, blah? I guess I was half expecting it to taste like home made 'real' bread. But the thought of getting flour all over the kitchen making traditional bread freaked me out because my daughter might get into it. First thing I really noticed...
  24. My daughters 12 month well baby is tomorrow and I am going to ask about her possible gluten intolerance. I am really really sure that is what the problem is. She vomits now when she eats bread, crackers and pasta. What tests should I ask for?
