ARCHIVED Weird Question...
norahsmommy replied to norahsmommy's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I was just thinking that if I gave her the antibodies against gluten in my breast milk, would that make her react like she was gluten intolerant even if she doesn't make the antibodies herself? -
I was just thinking about this and it got me wondering. I am gluten intolerant. I have alot of mental problems that go away when I stay gluten free. I also get intestinal issues. Anyway, is it possible for a nursing baby to be getting mom's antibodies and thus appear to also be gluten intolerant? My youngest dd was having so many issues. She couldn't eat...

ARCHIVED Yahoo! gluten-free Bakery Just Opened Up In Fargo Nd
norahsmommy replied to Teri Lou's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
lucky you! Our town only had 1 bakery until recently. Now there are 4 and none are gluten free. My parents keep showing me all the awesome stuff they get from the bakeries and I can't have any of it! -
ARCHIVED Red Lobster 2011
norahsmommy replied to The Fluffy Assassin's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
that sucks, I'm so sorry. I don't eat out often and when I do, with groups of people, I don't eat. I just order a drink or coffee. -
ARCHIVED Anyone Else Disappointed With Applebee's?
norahsmommy replied to MindytheOrganist's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
I won't eat there, only have drinks or coffee with friends. My youngest dd got sick there last time we ate there (before I knew I was gluten intolerant too, my problems are more mental than physical)I looked at their website and came to the conclusion that the only gluten free item (pretty much ) are the plain tortilla chips. -
ARCHIVED Resturant Chains That Have Gluten Free Options?
norahsmommy posted a topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
I have been pretty careful about my diet and have avoided eating out. My husband and I were out and he really wanted to eat out so we went to Ruby Tuesdays. We were going to go to Outback Steakhouse but it was closed. I have heard Outback has an area of the kitchen that is gluten free but I don't even know if that is true or not. I ordered a steak, it... -

norahsmommy posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I just drank one. I feel so stupid doing it. I noticed the label said 'malt' beverage on it as soon as I set it down. I didn't drink the whole thing though. I am guessing its NOT gluten free? -
ARCHIVED 6 Yr Old Constantly Telling My Her Stomach Hurts
norahsmommy replied to norahsmommy's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My daughter is really hyper and in her own world alot of the time. I have noticed that since we removed the majority of gluten from her diet she does better in school and homework time is not entirely filled up with my trying to draw her attention back to her work. I definitely wondered if it was related. We have had several meetings with the teacher and... -
ARCHIVED 6 Yr Old Constantly Telling My Her Stomach Hurts
norahsmommy posted a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My youngest daughter is gluten intolerant. I have not had her tested for celiac yet because she improved alot since we removed gluten and reacts to even minute amounts of it. I gave her a piece of regular bread after deciding to put her back on a gluten diet so I could get her tested and she started vomiting and had white poop when she had her next bowl movement... -
We have had trouble with our youngest daughters tummy and intestines since we started solids basically. I did an elimination diet 3 times when she was 9-10 months old and we discovered when we eliminated gluten products she got better. She has been gluten free since then and things have been better but not perfect. We discovered other foods also cause her...

ARCHIVED Gluten Free Toothpaste And Other Self Care Products?
norahsmommy posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
My 16 month old is gluten intolerant. She was doing so well for a while but for the last month or so has been having issues again. I am revisiting everything I feed her, and everything I put ON her as well just to make sure she is not exposed. I am trying to eradicate it from the house. I feel like I am at war with my house and its contents. In the process... -
ARCHIVED Celiac Or Just A Lot Of Food Intolerances?
norahsmommy posted a topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
My youngest daughter who is 16 months old has had issues since we started her on solids at 6 months. She gets SEVERELY constipated, I am talking 9 days without poop. When she does poop its terribly painful for her. So anyway, when she was about 9 months old we did 3 elimination diets and each time when we eliminated gluten products she got better. So we took... -
ARCHIVED Beyond Irritated!
norahsmommy posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My 14 month old is chronically constipated. I have eliminated many foods from her diet due to constipation issues, painful bm's, weird colored stool, seeing all her undigested foods in her stools and so on. I took her to the doc today because she hasn't pooped since Friday and its Thursday now. They prescribed a stool softener and had an x-ray taken of... -
ARCHIVED Fed Up With Trying To Figure This Out!
norahsmommy replied to norahsmommy's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I stay away from all the foods I keep away from her. We have not eliminated corn. Perhaps I should try that. I did (this week) cut out the soy yogurt and the pediasure to see if that helps but so far there is no change. The doc that called me today just frankly made me increasingly angry. I really can't express how miffed I am at him. He just chalks her... -
ARCHIVED Fed Up With Trying To Figure This Out!
norahsmommy replied to norahsmommy's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
well I took her to the doc today. She hasn't pooped since friday and its now Thursday evening. I had been trying to get an appointment with our pedi so I could get a referral to a pediatric GI but he apparently is on vacation or something so I had to see the nurse practitioner again. She prescribed a stool softener and sent us to have dd's belly x-rayed... -
ARCHIVED Fed Up With Trying To Figure This Out!
norahsmommy posted a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My 15 month old has had SEVERE constipation problems since the introduction of solids at the age of 6 months. One of her first foods was baby oatmeal. Through elimination diets we discovered over and over that anything containing wheat, rye, barley or oats caused her really bad constipation. I am talking over a week with no poop, straining for days to... -
ARCHIVED People Not Taking You Seriously
norahsmommy replied to LePandaRouge's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
your aunt and my grandma are very similar! My grandma brought candy for my kids. My youngest is gluten intolerant and she wanted to give her a kit kat bar. I said no because they have gluten in them. She said, "no its cookie" and I said, "yes but cookies are made of wheat flour and that has gluten in it" and she said, "Oh, how about a twix bar instead?'... -
ARCHIVED Does Anyone Outgrow Gluten Intolerance?
norahsmommy replied to norahsmommy's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
so there are no instances of kids who cannot tolerate gluten but as adults they can? Gluten intolerance is always Celiac disease or degrees of it? Are there other medical conditions that can cause gluten intolerance but are not related to Celiac? -
ARCHIVED Does Anyone Outgrow Gluten Intolerance?
norahsmommy posted a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My mother is absolutely convinced that my daughter will outgrow her gluten problems. She is 14 months and we have been dealing with this since we introduced solids. She isn't diagnosed yet, but I keep her gluten free because she is in pain when she eats gluten. My mother thinks her intestines are just immature and she will outgrow her problems. Has this... -
ARCHIVED Christmas Day, Everone Brought Gluten!
norahsmommy replied to norahsmommy's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
thanks =) I know I am nuts. My dh thinks I am great but at the same time thinks I am OCD about this. I try so hard to make sure my daughter doesn't get gluten but then in the back of my mind I wonder, does she REALLY have a problem? Maybe I am going overboard. Then she gets gluten and she is miserable and I get fresh evidence that she can't have it. She... -

ARCHIVED Christmas Day, Everone Brought Gluten!
norahsmommy replied to norahsmommy's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I didn't have a good time at all. I watched the kids open gifts from family and that was nice, but then I started noticing all the crumbs and I was miserable. -
ARCHIVED Christmas Day, Everone Brought Gluten!
norahsmommy posted a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I knew people were going to bring some gluten stuff. Its a given with all the holiday baking. My house is totally gluten free because I kept contaminating my daughter's food. I though, well I will just have to clean really well after they leave. Make sure the counters are really scrubbed down. Well we have a tiny house. There were 11 people and EVER single... -
ARCHIVED Food Looks The Same In Her Poop..
norahsmommy replied to norahsmommy's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I worry because she was a big newborn, 22 inches and 8.1 lbs. My other kids were 6 lbs and 5.11 lbs and 18 and 19 inches long. She was in the 75 percentile for weight until her 9 month check and then fell to the 25 percentile, she was still there at her 1 yr check. They said they don't want to see her fall off her curve any more. I am thinking she is... -
ARCHIVED Food Looks The Same In Her Poop..
norahsmommy posted a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I have endless issues with my 1 yr old daughter and her digestive tract. We have seen an allergist. All he did was a skin prick test that said she is allergic to nothing they tested her for, including wheat and dairy. I am not sure how reliable that is. Anyway he did say to remain gluten free and at her 15 month check we would test some more. Not really...
