  1. Hello there, our daughter (now 23 months) had the same issues as you are describing. Severe constipation and huge drop in percentile once we started her on solids. When she turned 1, the constipation turned to bloody diarrhea because she had a c.diff infection. It did not resolve until 9 months later and she had to be on many rounds of antibiotics. It...
  2. Thanks for the reply. Our daughter is also in the 3rd percentile (from 75% at 3 months). Our GI gave us Duocal, which is hydrolized corn that can be added to foods for extra calories. So far, I have not been successful in adding it to anything, will try to add it to rice and coconut milk now. Hopefully she will take it, it does change the consistency.
  3. Thank you for the reply. Yes, she has been tested for antibodies, but it was negative. Her igA was very low, so it could be a false negative. Wouldn't it be possible that the antibodies you are seeing are old antibodies, rather than new ones? I would think antibodies stay around for a while?
  4. We have a 23month old girl who has been glutenfree for 3 months now. We (incl. our GI) believe that she might be Celiac, since she has the gene and I personally have an undiagnosed condition that got resolved with glutenfree and dairy free diet. She had also recurring c.diff infections for 10 months and Celiac could have created a favorable environment for...
  5. Hello Rachel, I have just responded to another post of yours and have now come accross this one. I am so sorry for what you and your little one are going through. It is heartbreaking. I can relate, since our daughter (now 2) was very sick for 10 months with recurring c.diff infections. As soon as we took her off the antibiotics, the infection would return...
  6. Hello Rachel, we are still dealing with c.diff infections and Celiac could be the underlying cause. At first we had severe infections, the c.diff toxin test was positive and she had bloody diarrhea. Now the tests are coming back negative, but we still have a distinctive c.diff odor and I am convinced that it is still impacting her appetite and growth. In...
  7. You might like these Puffs: Open Original Shared Link Does not taste like the gold fish, but he might still like them. It is a nice and healthy snack.
  8. Hello Betsy, I have also a 23 month old girl and we believe she is either celiac or gluten-intolerant. She was also very chubby as a baby, but dropped significantly in percentile after she started solids. She is now down to 3rd percentile. She had also a c.diff infection that lasted for 8 months. Our GI believes that Celiac could be the underlying cause...
  9. Thank you for the great advice. We are strongly leaning towards postponing the procedure and trying the gluten free diet. Yes, I have been giving her high dose probiotics for many months. I do not give her any dairy. I tried yoghurt and kefir in the past and she refused. We have been seen by a very reputable institution and reputable doctor and they did only...
  10. I had also severe vertigo, but did not know at that time what I was dealing with. As the first defense I used sudafed and it seemed to help. Not sure why it did. I then finally went on a complete food elimination diet, eliminating gluten, dairy and soy (an a couple of other likely allergens) and got complete resolution. Then I spent years fine tuning what...
  11. Thank you for the detailed response. Yes, we had the blood test done and it was negative, but her igA values are borderline abnormal. I have definitely symptoms of celiac. My symptoms were not just GI related, but I was severely dizzy to the point of having vertigo. I went gluten free and casein free and all symptoms resolved. After 6 months of feeling good...
  12. we have a 20 month old baby girl who was recently diagnosed with the celiac gene. she has had recurring c.diff infections for the past 8 months and is very low weight (1%). the celiac could be the underlying cause for the c.diff infections. we need to make a decision on whether we take her through an endoscopy and colonoscopy. i have 2 concerns: a) i have...
  13. I am wondering if you have to be completely gluten free as a Celiac? My 20 month old daughter has the celiac gene. I have a GI condition that I have managed with an "almost gluten free" and casein free diet. My daughter has had recurrent c.diff infections for over 8 months and the celiac gene was discovered as part of investigating underlying conditions....
  14. Thank you everyone for the responses. Our daughter has relapsed 6 times and 4 of the relapses were confirmed with positive tests. She relapsed twice while on vancomycin, those 2 relapses were not confirmed with positive tests, but treated based on symptoms. We did 2 rounds of flagyl, a very long taper and pulsing approach with vancomycin over 4 months and...
  15. We have a 20 month old baby who has just been diagnosed with the DQ2 gene. We have been struggling with recurrent c.diff for over 8 months and were searching for underlying conditions. Her Ttg Iga is normal, but she is extremely low in IgA. I know that IgA defficiency can create false negatives, can a borderline low IgA value do the same? I should also note...
