ARCHIVED Recipe For All Purpose Flour Blend
divamomma posted a topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I have seen alot of different flour blend recipes. Is there one that is better than the rest? I am looking for one that is easily substituted in "regular" baking. -
Thank you so much! Now does anyone have a recipe for taco seasoning?? How about stuffing, like a "Stovetop" replica?

ARCHIVED Crazy Hunger!
divamomma replied to brett31em's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
This is my daughter as well and was one main reason that I took her to the dr in the first place. She is a good weight, neither above or below for her age but constantly hungry. -
ARCHIVED Opinions On Doing Biopsy
divamomma replied to lovemykids's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
It is hard waiting that is for sure. We are currently waiting for a biopsy. It was originally scheduled for two months away ut we just got bumped up to Jan 10. I was really considering skipping the biopsy and just going gluten free based on the positive blood. In your situation though it may be helpful to have the biopsy since nothing showed in the blood... -
ARCHIVED Appointment Bumped Up!
divamomma posted a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Good news! Instead of waiting until feb 28 there was a cancellation so my daughter is going for the scope/biopsy Jan 10! I am so happy but now I am super nervous too. Feeling sick to my stomach and very nervous. Nervous for the procedure, nervous for a negative/confusing outcome, nervous for a definitive diagnosis. SO happy though to not have to wait 2 months... -

Malto dextrin Dextrin Dextrose Are these the same things? Are they safe or unsafe? -
I have a few recipes I would like to continue cooking once we switch to gluten-free. Please help me with a couple of substitutions! When I make cream sauces and need to add 1 tablespoon of flour (or sometimes up to 1/2 c flour) what can I use as a replacement?? Is there a gluten-free cream of chicken soup?? What could possibly replace this? Thanks...

ARCHIVED Need Your Opinion Please...what Would You Do?
divamomma replied to divamomma's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Again, thanks for the replies. Is there anything a specialist would do aside from the scope/biopsy that I should be looking to my family dr for? I am certain my own family dr will refer us to a diectician. Again with positive blood tests I don't see a need to see the specialist. -
ARCHIVED Need Your Opinion Please...what Would You Do?
divamomma posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My 4 1/2 yr old daughter tested positive for celiac disease (ATTG IgA was 42. Her symptoms are irritable/cranky behavior, exhaustion/lethargic (worsening) constipation, constant need to eat/hunger and itchy skin (worsening) We can not get in to see the specialist for the scope/biopsy until the end of February (two months from now). I see my daughter getting... -

ARCHIVED Biopsy Scheduled...2 Months Away
divamomma posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I was under the impression that my daughter would be seen in a few weeks. My family dr told me that she was having an expedited process. The hospital told me that two months is expedited...Great. So now I have two more months to get through, worrying about my daughter, thinking of nothing but celiac/gluten etc. It is hard seeing her so exhausted, cranky lethargic... -
ARCHIVED Dealing With Celiac With A 4 Year Old
divamomma replied to MaryannG's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I have no answers as this is all fairly new to me. I have a 4 yr old daughter who has tested positive on bloodwork and we are waiting for a biopsy to confirm. I also have a 6 year old daughter who has tested negative. I fear this will happen often around our house. I am already dreading the feelings of unfairness and jealousy....from both girls. While I have... -
ARCHIVED Positive Blood Work Question
divamomma replied to divamomma's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Thank you for your reply. She is constantly exhausted, cranky and hungry. She wants to eat all the time and generally just wants to lay around. I took her to the dr with those concerns. My dr ran bloodwork and decided to check for celiac. I guess I am glad she did! -
ARCHIVED Positive Blood Work Question
divamomma posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
So my daughter's TTG IgA result was positive at 42 (wahtever that means) I am obsessing over whether this means she has celiac for sure while waiting for a biopsy. Are these likely accurate? Is it true false negatives are more common? What other reasons would there be for a high level of TTG IgA? Would a lower level be more iffy/unclear....her being 42 is... -
ARCHIVED Tolerating Child's Cranky/whiny/irritable Behavior?
divamomma posted a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
We are still waiting for a scope and biopsy. Longest 2 weeks ever and I am sure we have more to wait. My 4 year old is constatly whiny, irritable, ugging her sister etc. I am sure most of it is due to not feeling well. Any advice on how to tolerate this? I know I should have more patience but this behavior is awful. It is also hard to tell my older daughter... -
ARCHIVED 4 Yr Old Daughter, Positive Blood Test
divamomma replied to divamomma's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Thanks again for the responses. My older daughter, my husband and myself all tested negative for celiac. (the TTG IgA test was normal) My daughter is scheduled for a pre op physical next week and we are still waiting for a date for the biopsy/scope. My dr said she had only ever had one patient who was positive for celiac come back negative on the biopsy.... -
ARCHIVED Now What?
divamomma replied to TarynsMom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Interesting....my 4 year old daughter also has an extreme aversion to loud noises. She tested positive for celiac on a blood test and we are awaiting a biopay/scope. -
ARCHIVED 4 Yr Old Daughter, Positive Blood Test
divamomma replied to divamomma's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
THanks for all the replies. It certainly helps hearing from other people in similar situations. I think it is hard to ignore the positive blood test. We will likely go gluten free no matter what the endoscope says but it would be nice to have a clear/firm diganosis. My 6 year old daughter and myself had blood tests yesterday so we will see what those show... -
