  1. Is there anyone around the bay area in California? Or does any one know of any support groups around the bay area, California? I have tried contacting a few support groups, and I have not gotten a response back. It has been like 3 weeks since I contacted them, and I would really like to have a celiac friend also! Thanks!
  2. Who else is sick of having to deal w celiacs? I hate having to be so careful w my food, having to make my own food to bring to parties. I hate it!! No one else in my family has this, they don't understand how bad it sucks to be so different. They keep telling me that I'm over reacting, it's not that bad to have this allergy, but they don't have it, it...
  3. Welcome Carl! I am new also to this forum. I too found out that I have celiacs while playing basketball for college. Have you tried running now off gluten? for me, with in a week or so, I started to feel more like my old self. It only continues to get better! But, being a serious athlete, you have to be really careful with contamination. REALLY CHECK...
  4. I have been lactose intolerant all my life, and today, even with the medicine, I do not eat much dairy because I grew up not eating it. I think I'm gonna try the elimination diet, but, do you have to be as strict as with gluten, with cross contamination?
  5. Omgosh! That is what I am trying to figure out also. I am starting to get my stomach pain like before becoming gluten free, I don't know how to proceed. For me, it seems to be processed foods and greasy meat that is a trigger, but, it is not consistent. I have made an apt. with my regular doctor, and see where to go from here. I would love to hear...

    ARCHIVED Worth Getting Diagnosed?

Thanks! I am going to just continue to say Celiac.
  7. hahaha the gluten dreams, where you just eat and eat and eat and eat! I get those every few months or so, where I eat everything I miss. Though, the weirdest one I had, was when I am swimming inside a clam chowder in a bread bowl. You get use to them, and when you wake up, you binge on gluten free substitutes!
  8. Once I started to have symptoms of gluten, I got what I thought at the time, was "sport-induced asthma", I played college basketball and was a starter, able to run for hours, but suddenly, i could not run more than a few sprints before everyone in the gym could see me struggling for air and hear my gasp for breath. It was so severe, the trainer use to make...

    ARCHIVED Worth Getting Diagnosed?

Thanks everyone for the help and encouragement!! I keep getting heat that I am just putting myself and my loved ones, through the challenge of a gluten free diet, without a correct diagnosis. I started to doubt myself. I do not want to eat bread for 2 to 3 months! I have to work and think clearly. That will not work. Thanks again for everyone...
  10. I have been gluten free for over a year or so, and today, I still struggle with people eating food in front of me, it is not that I really want one, but the fact that I cannot, drives me crazy!! What I have found helpful, is carrying little snacks that you enjoy and only eat them for a special treat! Like, now I have some hazelnut bars/wafers/cookie...

    ARCHIVED Worth Getting Diagnosed?

Hi everyone, I am new to this forum, let me quickly introduce myself, I am 22, and suffered from migraines and severe stomach aches daily, for two years. I self diagnosed myself as allergic to gluten and within days, my symptoms disappeared. I have now been gluten free for a year and a half and I am wondering if it is worth eating gluten again to get...
