  1. thanks everyone for all the encouragement and tips and important info (like sticking to the GFD for 6 months and then adding gluten back to see how I feel)... needless to say I didn't like the way that website gave a biased POV on the matter. I feel better from all your posts though
  2. thanks so much everyone. about the soup, I just am TERRIBLE at cooking... before, it was jiust so easy to eat hummus or cheese with pita or other bread, or to eat pasta, or a muffin... now i WANT to cook and make lots of salads with quinoa, and beans, etc. but I am terrible at preparing food, everything tastes AWEFUL, I think I am cursed.
  3. Someone on the forum mentionned Dr Alessio Fasano as a celiac specialist, so I looked at his website and listened to a bunch of video testimonials. ALL the people in the videos had SERIOUS GI issues: Open Original Shared Link Yet everyone here (and a bunch of websites) say a different story, that it isn't always like that. I spoke to a friend...
  4. thanks, will try yoplait. I'm in canada... never seen faye here...
  5. I feel the same. I hope going gluten free helps me. I am on day 2. I need a lot of faith, espeically if my test comes back negative. My doctor would ONLY test me for tTG antibodies. And since I did have serious depression and anxiety going through the roof a few years ago, for which she saw me and prescribed meds to me, she kept asking all these questions...
  6. Have you found that when your celiac or gluten anxiety and depression cleared up or improved, that things just got easier and clearer interpersonally and socially? Can anxiety lead to actual social anxiety, difficulty being in social situations and fear of rejection and what not? I have all the above, have struggled through life, self-help books and...
  7. Do I use any product that says it may contain traces of wheat ? it says it for salt, spices, even nuts and chocolate covered almonds...
  8. thanks! would YOU eat it? especially when just 1st starting gluten-free and needing to see if your symptoms improve? - at this point, if I got "glutened", I wouldn't know it.. I just feel like crap all the time
  9. I would like to know whether I can safely eat this yogurt. I got this info from another board- the company sent this to a person in response to her questions regaring gluten in their products: "we cannot certify that our production plant is 100% free of gluten since some of our productions contain gluten ; however, here are some more informations : the...
  10. wow... thanks for sharing that! and i'm so glad you got a correct diagnosis after all. what is so scary is that some people get negative results and continue to eat gluten and be ill.. gluten sensitivity and celiac are so sneaky... and it seems so difficult to properly asses the person. this morning my mom sent me an email where she said she thinks...
  11. From my other thread you may know that I only was tested for tTG and nothing else and if I get a negative result it could be false because that test alone is not enough. But my doctor wouldn't hear of having me take more tests (celiac and gluten sensitivity wise). Now I am worried about getting a false negative and I am wondering why not just go on...
  12. It's too late now It usually takes months to see a doctor and I TRIED to tell her there wee several tests and should I get another one that tTG and she would not hear it, she said "That's the only one I give". She's so incompetent. she had to look in her binder to remind herself what test to ask for. I'm so angry. It took me 1 hour on the bus to go...
  13. My doctor would not do them (order them from the lab). she said that if more tests needed to be done, the gastroenterologist would do them. HOW does that make any sense, since she will not refer me to one UNLESS I test positive for celiac with this test? and it is SO hard to find a doctor here. well too bad if the test is negative I will go gluten free...
  14. So my doctor sent me for blood tests and as far as gluten and celiac are concerned, she asked only for the tTG test (in French it is a test for antibodies called "anti-transglutaminase"). She said it was the only one she needed to ask for. is it enough? is it a good test? and would it only be positive if I have celiac (actual tissue damage to my...
  15. thanks! I don't see why I should suffer in silence. I have the right to ask for test don't I? I am hoping for a positive diagnosis though (is that SICK? like i WANT to be sick?)... cause then I'll know what is wrong, where all these little (and not so little) symptoms come from. Why should one live with this pain and not try to make their life better, for...
  16. Well, I am going to my doctor tomorrow to ask to be tested, but I have a chronic problem with ear itch. and need to have them flushed too.
  17. I am seeing my doctor tomorrow. I was SO lucky, I called and there happenned to be a concelation for tomorrow usually it takes 3 to 6 months to be seen. I am armed with a list of symptoms and concerns. This doctor knows my history, she has been with me for a few years. Depression, anxiety, extreme fatigue, chronic pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, chronic...
