  1. Where can I get an updated list of gluten free stuff? I had just read in a book I got from the library that caramel color and spices possibly contained gluten
  2. Thanks to everyone. I was very very depressed yesterday and the day before (first 2 days of menstrual period). Still have a kink in my neck and woke up with a headache. I was so amazed on how fast the neck and shoulder pain had gotten better... it is scary to go downhill. I will hang in there. I am concerned about the "gluten in pads" thing..... ...
  3. Spices? Caramel colour? artificial colour? IDK... I don't think they have to speficy barley (or gluten in general), only wheat.
  4. I am almost 3 weeks gluten-free and I have experienced some returnong of symptoms when I got my period yesterday. Headache, nausea, and shoulder and neck pain (kinks in my neck). Of course being exhausted, cramps and depressed (very irritable and weepy, everything in life feels overwhleming) as usual. This scares me. Anyone relate?
  5. I'm still hoping my cat will be able to transition to raw fully. he will not chew bones I should have switched him as a kitten when he came home from the shelter.
  6. An appropriate raw diet is safe and healthy. the kibble companies have really convinced us that kibble (or canned pet food) is the best and only appropriate foods for our pets. They are wrong IMO. Kibble is highly processed and it is far from the best foods for our pets. Even high quality kibble like Orijen or whatever, is still kibble... Bones are...
  7. I think all gluten should be eliminated. cats are obligate carnivores, they shouldn't have any grains. I feed my cat Acana (from Champion pet foods, they also have Orijen) and canned Wellness. I have also fed Taste of the Wild. I'd like to switch him to raw, but cats are hard to switch. My dog had skin issues, very limited, only irritation and...
  8. Thanks everyone! I think that gthe thing that kept me determined was the fact that I am feelign so much better since going gluten-free. I thought what a wrong thing it would be to eat gluten. My friend is a great friend. She was totally accepting and supportive and she was happy to try a new restaurant. acutally we went to the Thai place and one of...
  9. My friend is coming to see me from out of town. We always go to the same vietnamese restaurant when she visits. I called the restaurant and they cannot accomodate gluten-free, they say there are gluten containing sauces in all dishes. I found 3 other restaurants I will sugggest to my friend. One is a little expensive but beautiful food, local ingredients...
  10. i'm very happy for you! my neck and shoulder pain have dramatically decreased in just 2 WEEKS. I still cannot believe it. I still have a long way to go (still very very tired and irritibale among other things), but this pain thing getting better has GOT to be related to going gluten free. I used to have such pain I wanted to cry. everyday was a struggle...
  11. The results are fantastic. Yes there is obvioulsy a lot of healing to do, but the reduction in pain in my neck and shoulders is dramatic. I cannot believe it, just 2 weeks later. I hope it keeps getting better.
  12. thanks raven anyone else care to share stories about rapid improvement of chronic pain? I just need more confirmation that it is indeed real!!!
  13. On day 11, I sorta noticed that maybe my neck and shoulder muscles were less tense, and that the pain was not as bad. Each time I am out on a walk, since then, I noticed this, ans also when sitting at the computer. I noticed it yesterday night and this morning again (I'm on day 13 now) during my walk. As I am typing I am aware of it. There is much less...
  14. So I am on day 12 of gluten-free. I am very excited so far. Very hopeful. My nausea is gone, my headaches so far seem to be better, I am digesting better, the aweful wheat cravings are gone (psychologically not 100%, but physically they are gone) and I seem to have a little less muscle pain. My skin is still very itchy, and I still have general chronic...
  15. I think a gluten free diet is always a good thing isn't? since gluten is so hard to break down for the body... I think his family are just ill educated about diet in general. I see that in my family too. some people think it is plain dumb to question the conventional diet. and then they are ill and wonder why. it's your body and your husband's body...
  16. I'm on day 12! My digestion is much better, my crazy wheat cravings are gone, and yesterday I realized that I am no longer constantly nauseous! Also I feel as though my pain in my shoulders and neck is a little less. Everything is not so tight anymore. Also the headaches haven't been here for a few days! Still very irritable and quite depressed...
  17. Interesting topic! My dog had been eating Orijen for a couple of years and is now on raw and home cooked. Sometimes of course she gets treats like cheese or hot dog weiner pieces but for the hot dog I will only buy gluten free ones since starting the gluten-free diet myself. My kittie is on Acana (same company as Orijen) dry and Wellness...
  18. Thank you so much for your encouraging words. I am dead set on remaining gluten free.... my digestion is so much better and being gluten free really does eliminate so much junk foods!! I have to make brown rice and veggies and salads with beans etc.... i cannot just grab a baguette and eat a bran muffin. I meant BAKERY goods not baked goods in...
  19. ok I have no idea about my test results but I am still gluten free, it,s been about 1 week. My digestion is much much better, and my baked goods and bread cravings are gone. I feel so good about that. I am PMSing , I am on the 27th day of my cycle. I have a history of depression and anxiety, especially pre-menstrual. What I would like to know...
  20. Thanks everyone. It's noce to read about all the different expeirences. I am on day 5 of being gluten free and my digestion is so much better. I *think* I am sleeping a bit better and also i am not waking up with this cloud of black depression over my head (which felt like a physical pain, like my brain was affected). I don,t know how much of it is psycho...
  21. I' m reading Gluten Free Girl right now, I love it! and it gives you so much hope. she really shows how you are not loosing, but gaining, from being gluten free. and it is a great book, I love how she writes. it is very inspiriong too because to be a writer was her dream and the whole celiac diagnosis and gliuten free journey set her on her path to writing...
  22. How long for the anxiety to go away? (if it is indeed in reaction to gluten) I'm not talking about anxiety ABOUT celiac symptoms, I am talking about anxiety in and of itself (generalized anxiety disorder, panick attacks, eaxagerated fear and startle responses,...). 4 days into the gluten free thing, and I am the same. the ONLY thing that is better...
