  1. This is a very "sensitive" topic. Has anyone confused DH with hemmeroids? I know this is weird and that hemmeroids come with constipation and diareha ( sorry my spelling stinks) that follows celiac disease/DH. But this is just lingering longer than expected and NOTHING is helping. Some days I feel like I will loose my mind for all of the itching. And...
  2. While in Salt Lake on Vacation I was blessed to find a resturant w/gluten free Menu and I wanted to share the name of it with everyone. They have locations in other city's but I don't remember where. The resturant is calld "THAIFOON",Taste of Asia. They were very understanding and helpful. So good luck out there and try THAIFOON if you ever get a chance...

    ARCHIVED Friendly's

Now I am probably sidetracking a little but since you mentioned Applebys. I must have just had a wonderful waiter. I live in Columbus, Ohio, and on a recent visit to a suberbian Appleby's (which I just usually avoid because I don't really like chain resturants like that) I explained to the waiter about my allergies. He went and got the manager and the...

    ARCHIVED Friendly's

I have been wondering how long it would take for DH to appear after an accidental glutenting. It is always accidental so it is hard to say. Until now for me. At a party in April the host told me a dessert salad was made with rice. I was very exicted and ate a tablespoon or two. I went back for seconds it was so good. Then I noticed, That wasnt rice...
  5. Thanks to everyone that replied. Very dissapointing. Not even strawberry topping. Thank goodness I can still get a shake at McDonalds. Funny how a fast food companie I used to loath is suddenly becoming my favorite resturant!
  6. I read on DQ website that all of the soft serve is gluten-free but they did not address toppings. I am jonesing for a Bannan Split or a German Chocolate Blizzard. Anyone have any idea if their toppings are gluten free? How about a Peanut Buster Parfait? Hot Fudge, I really am jonesing now!!!!
  7. mommida: Thanks for your responce. My husband thinks I am nuts. And why not he has seen some weird things happening to me since (or should I say before) I was diagnosed. I also have dry eye syndrom. I am hoping that goes away too! I would love to go back to wearing contacts.
  8. Here is a question for those with DH. Has anyone noticed changes in hair texture or nails after going gluten free. I have been gluten-free since Novemeber. My hair used to be rather dry and frizzy, now it sliky smooth. Not complaining mind you, it is just such a drastic change. It presents somewhat of a styling delema. Also, my nails are becoming stronger...
  9. Man! I just walked in those shoes. Only I wasn't smart enough to not eat what my family had so thoughtfully prepaired for me. They told me they made one of my favorite desserts with rice, mandrine oranges, cherries, whip cream. yummy, NOT! The rice turned out to be pasta!!! Luckily I discovered this after about 4 bites. I freaked out. Went to the cook...
  10. I have been jonesing for ice cream lately. Must be spring. DQ said the soft serve is gluten free but I need gooey and nutty. So I wrote to Hagen-Daz. Here is the responce for anyone who is feeling the same way. April 12, 2005 Thank you for your email requesting nutritional information on H
  11. Oakpoint9 Okay, I know the nutritional value of this post is little to none but we all need a few indulgences. This is a copy of the reply from Ben & Jerrys I received today.
  12. Oakpoint9 This is tough learning and I learn something new everyday. Fortunatly everytime I get some gluten now I do not get the rash. Phone numbers - on the back of most packages there is a 1-800 # The web has been my friend for most of my information. I put the company name in the search engine. Then search their sites. I have found in the FAQ...
  13. YEA!!! I am on my way!!! Thanks for the infomation.
  14. Austin: I know it has been a while since you posted but if I may I would like to just add my support and offer some comments. I too tried to stay gluten-free for several months before figuring out that gluten is in just about everything I love to eat. I avoided the obvious. Bread, pasta, crackers, pies, cakes, cookies. But I was still broke out. Every...
  15. I just had the circular type of biosey done. The doctor was very good with me. I went to a dermitologist. My worst site was on my elbow and back so he did two biopseys on my elbow and one on my back. It was pain free. Actually it was a very curious proceedure and I tried to watch when he did it on my elbow. He did not stitch my sites because they were...
  16. I emailed BW3's about a month ago. No reply. If anyone gets a reply back could you post it to this board so we could all see. I miss wings almost as much as I miss beer.
  17. I emailed Heinz a while back and they gave me an okay that their Katsup was gluten-free. I really hated to give Theresa Heinze-Kerry any of my hard earned money but if it is gluten-free, so be it.
  18. I have read with great interest all of the postings concerning beer. I decided I needed to write the company. I have included both my question and the answer for anyone that might be interested. I am to newly diagnosed to even think about trying beer right now. Maybe in the future. Knowing there may be a light at the end of this tunnel may give me the...
  19. THanks to everyone who has offered advice. I will be looking for the crackers and the berrys with honey and milk sounds like a great breakfast. I checked out the USDA nutrition database. That is good information to have. Thanks to everyone. Its great to know if I need advice there are people willing to share. Debbie
  20. So I went yesterday and had my upper endoscopy and also a colonoscopy because I was still symptomatic. Of course results will be several weeks on the Celiac. But my doctor has told me if I do not increase the fiber in my diet I will probably end up with diverticulosis. Great, another dietary thing to worry about. I used to get plenty of fiber in my morning...
  21. Thank you all for your responces. It's nice to have somewhere to vent where people understand. I know my test my come back negative tomorrow but I need to know what is going on. My GI doc said He didn't want me back on Gluten (thank God, I couldn't have done it) because I am still having GI problems. He wants to rule out every other GI disease also...
  22. I am new to this board but I need to vent. I was diagnosed w/DH in November (officially) I suffered with symptoms all summer long. Went to regular family doctor, whom I am sure would have rather been talking to the wall than trying to figure out what was wrong with me. She sent me to a rectal surgeon!!!!! I went for an initial eval and knew this guy...
  23. I am a newly diagnosed DH. I have been gluten free (or trying) 7 months. My question is...It is St.Patricks day and NOBEER (I know life could be worse.) and No corned beef!! Anyone have any suggestions on Corned beef and cabbage? I looked at the corned beef in Wal-Mart and the ingredient list on brand they carry says there are natural flavorings. Does...
