  1. My eldest has just been really sick with typical gluten exposure symptoms after a supposedly gluten free meal at her school. The kitchen staff have been really helpful in trying to track down the source of the problem, but we've drawn a blank. The meal consisted of gluten-free meatballs, boiled potatoes, grated raw carrot and lettuce (school meals haven't...
  2. I grew up in a household with a dad who was severely gluten intolerant, yet it still came as a shock to me to find that my daughters had the same problem, and that lo and behold my symptoms improved when I took our whole little family down the gluten free route to avoid arguments and accidents. I guess that even having grown up with the condition - or because...
  3. My daughter was diagnosed ceoliac about 3 years ago, but looking back I can't help wondering how early her problems started as she had such awful colic when she was a baby. My going off cows' milk seemed to help a lot - if only I'd thought of skipping gluten too! It stands to reason that if foreign proteins from cows' milk can come through in breast milk...
  4. The sheer ammount of time missed off school was one of the things that got us started down the road of looking seriously at food intolerances in the first place. Not only were my kids sick more often than their classmates, they were sicker for longer. When the rest of the class had chicken pox mildly for a week, we had it violently for a fortnight. A bout...
  5. Hello, my daughter and my father both pass out if they eat anything with gluten. In fact my daughter can be out for hours and has really bad convulsions. It started after her previous school mixed up her gluten free food with someone else's and gave her a big plate of regular pasta... I have to say that even though she's now totally gluten free she still...
  6. This is fascinating! The first effect we noticed when we put our youngest daughter on a gluten free diet was that for the first time in her life she slept right through the night. She's nearly 9, and I'd more or less given up hope of ever having an unbroken night again. Right from the start the slightest noise would wake her up - now she sleeps like a log...
  7. I forgot to mention - co-enzyme Q10 seems to reduce the frequency of my daughter's migraines and helps her stay focused. Might be worth a try. I keep her calcium and magnesium topped up too, not least in the hopes of helping her fragile teeth.
  8. This is my first ever post here, but I feel I have to add my support - my 11 year old daughter has also had similar problems, to the extent that her previous school were insisting that she had learning difficulties as opposed to coeliac disease - she just seemed to drift off, almost like petit mal epilepsy. As they didn't take her diet seriously, mistakes...
