  1. Thank you everyone! I really appreciate it and the link to the Celiac Disease Center in Chicago.
  2. Hi, A week ago I accidentally bought and put in my mouth a sunflower seed cacao treat at LAX airport. I put it in my mouth, chewed, looked down at the label and saw it has wheat. I spit it out and gargled, brushed my teeth, etc. And then I tried to forget about it. I felt okay for about five days. . . and then, by this past weekend, and until now I have...
  3. Hi everyone, I'm dating someone new and when I showed up for our date last week he was drinking a beer. Sigh. I have the policy that I will not kiss someone who has been drinking beer for 4-5 hours. Brushing teeth, chewing gum, gargling, it just doesn't feel like enough. If he was eating gluten food then brushing teeth and rinsing would feel OK, but beer...
  4. Hi everybody-- First, please watch out for GoodBelly probiotic coconut water and other drinks. They use barley malt and oats in their probiotic culturing process. I told the company they should put a big CONTAINS GLUTEN label on the bottle. I was so shocked after a took a sip that a coconut water would have gluten in it. So this leads into my question...
  5. I am having the same experience--every 5 or 6 days now for the last two months I get a canker sore, some of them not so large, and with it I get all muscle achey and fatigued, knocked out! I never got them frequently before. It is really a drag--feel like I can't rely on being able to get out and live my life. I will hunt the SLS free toothpaste. I already...
  6. Wow, so you think you got these symptoms from just being cross-contaminated with corn as opposed to eating it? I have also cut out all grains including corn, dairy, eggs, and chocolate based on the results of food inolerance testing. But I never think that cross-contamination from those things will cause symptoms in the way that gluten cross-contamination...
  7. Hi all, I've been gluten-free 15 months and I'm very strict. For the last couple of months I've been getting frequent canker sores that are accompanied by a cold/tired feeling/muscle aches that last 2-3 days. It's frustrating because it's been happening weekly. I found one post on this topic on the forums and got the tip of getting another toothpaste...
  8. Hi Becca, I can relate. I have been gluten-free now for about 15 months and am still struggling with frequent colds, canker sores,an and fatigue as well as other random symptoms. I never really know whether they are connected to celiac or not. Maddening! Although I am still having canker sores and colds (was going to write my own post about this) I can...
  9. Great! There is nothing like being able to poll celiacs about a question like this when in doubt. I am very grateful for your answers! I started eating it last night and I'm still unsure about my reaction time, I'll hold out a little longer, but seems like it's probably all good.
  10. Hi everyone! I wouldn't know where else to turn but the celiac forums with this question. I am sick and I made myself a great chicken soup to get better. I noticed after I had made the soup and eaten some that a small piece of waxy cardboard paper from the new spoon (part of the packaging) I bought had dropped into the soup and had been there the whole...
  11. Thanks Skylark. I will check this diet. Wow, eating lamb, white rice, and lettuce for two weeks seems intense. Were you able to carry on with life as usual? I suppose it's easier in some sense because you only shop for three things and cook two. And then after this you introduced one food or food group after the next? There is a lot of noise about adrenal...
  12. Hi everyone! Once again I am amazed by the depth of knowledge in this community. I just visited this topic area for the first time now that I have identified food intolerances and leaky gut as something I should look into. I've been gluten-free for seven months since my biopsy showed moderate to severe damage and I still feel frequently tired, get about ...
  13. Interesting. I will look into elimination diets and doing just meet and veggies (or almost only, whatever I can manage). I did feel better when I was eating more broccoli. I also have the intuition that I need red meat and chicken. I relate so much to the others who are dealing with the ups and downs of energy. I asked God today in the kitchen to jut let...
  14. I decided after writing this post to try once more with my current doctor by writing him an email listing the things I would like to be tested for. I'm going to research this but also thought I would ask if anyone else has any other ideas. I know for starters that although my TSH is good years ago either T3 or T4 was way low, so I will mention this for one...
  15. Thanks for these additional ideas. I am still not sure what is going on . . . Since I posted I have seen my doctor and had some good days and then bad days again for the last four days. I got my gluten antibody results. My IGG is 1.04 with a standard range being less than .9 and my IGA is 2.04 with a standard range being less than .9. Initially (when...
  16. Hi! Thanks for these ideas. As far as cross-contamination goes, it's possible and I hope that I will find out as as a result of the blood test this morning. I am *so* careful already. I can only wonder, is it the cheaper possibly gluten-containing Whole Foods conditioner I bought so I didn't spend $10 on a gluten-free version? Beans and rice from a ...
  17. Hi Everyone, I'm starting to feel concerned and thought I would reach out to this great community for a perspective. I got my biopsy dx of moderate to severe damage (celiac sprue) 12 weeks ago and have been gluten-free since. I also went gluten-free for two months after testing positive on my blood tests, and that time I felt pretty good after...
  18. Right--my question is, if I am not going to eat at the salad buffet, then what should I eat if I go to a Whole Foods-type-place and want to eat on the spot for lunch? I thought about buying rice cakes and prosciutto and that was about as far as I got. These ideas are good--any other ideas?
  19. Hi all! The 1 in 133 folks are doing important work and I hope the victory will be sweet with their 12 foot gluten-free cake. . . and there's a petition you can sign as well. Open Original Shared Link
  20. Hey all! I have been looking a lot online for an SF Bay Area group for celiacs. The only thing I have found so far is a group in Marin. I would like to do dinner at Pica Pica in the Mission. Are there other Bay Area celiacs in this forum? Any tips for how to find Bay Area Celiacs? Looking forward to meeting up!!!
