Celiac.com - Celiac Disease & Gluten-Free Diet Support Since 1995

  1. Thank you, this site IS brilliant and minimises the over whelming feeling I get at the thought of removing Gluten and Iodine from my diet - as well as being vege (by choice). My dr has offered me medication to help the itching but I have opted for steroid creams/ointments as I am still breastfeeding and have recently found out that breastfeeding can minimise...
  2. Oh it's driving me INSANE...........
  3. Thanks guys. Its a real "limbo thing" in that it seems to vary from person to person but it's helpful to have people with Celiac DH saying it looks similar. I don't understand why it seems ok for Dr's to think I have such a rare condition as Behcets (very rare for my ethnicity) but it's so hard to believe I may have DH, but they both have same medication...
  4. Massively itchy, specially the one on buttocks... I end up in a bad way with that one... Dou you mind me asking if you've been diagnosed?
  5. I'm undergoing investigation for celiac (althoug Dr is reluctant) and wont even entertain the possibility that it could be DH. I have posted pictures in the DH section and would be greatful if any Dr could have a look at them? I was diagnosed with behcets at 16 and put on dapsone. Since being off dapsone for 2 years I have had symptoms that seem more celiac...
  6. Im in the UK, but thank you... very interesting...
  7. Thank you! That's the first time I've chuckled in a long time! Yes my Dr is dopey. Im in the UK and we have the National Health Service so it works slightly differently. I will call ahead to the dermatologist but I suspect it wont get me anywhere! Can anyone tell me if all DH sufferers have to remove/manage iodine? In the UK if you're not diagnosed you...
  8. Quick background to this is I was diagnosed with bechets at 16 at put on dapsone tablets - 50-100mg daily. Left to manage it on my own. I stopped taking it 2 years ago when I was pregnant and havent taken it since due to breastfeeding. Slowly symptoms of my body/stomach not liking something have come along and I also get this rash when I eat certain things...
  9. Incase anyone is interested I am posting pictures of the 3 different rashes I experience in the Dermatitis herpetiformis topic... I would welcome any opinions or comments. This rash is beginning to affect my life quite seriously and besides being a horrible and uncomfortable thing it has also made me lose a lot of confidence.

    ARCHIVED Pictures

Hi there, apologies for seeming stupid - but how can I upload/attach pictures in a post??
  12. I was on Dapsone 50-100mg for 12 years for "Bechets Syndrome" - (diagnosed at 16) stopped taking it nearly 2 years ago and am riddled with Celiac DH symptoms. Some Dr's are thinking I was misdiagnosed. I was left to manage it on my own with no regular blood testing and was always severly anaemic by the time they did do blood tests. Iron levels are still...
  13. I have pictures but am unsure how to load them?..
  14. Thank you, I have all of those symptoms...
  15. I am fairly new here and am being investigated myself. I'm vege too so am worried about going gluten free too. Just reading the last bit of your post - you're beginning to cut things out?? I have heard that the stomach does repair itself and can therefore give a false result when they look at it. Im being made to continue to eat "normally" until October...
  16. I have had blood tests - all negative although Dr refuses to let me have access to celiac ones, he's given me a piece of paper with the word negative on but not the actual levels (see my other post "desperately seeking advice" for more details). I will post pictures over the next two days, although feel incredibly embarassed regarding rash on buttocks, have...
  17. Ok, having googled skin conditions the oval things on legs look awfully like hives - allergy to food?? Rash on bum and face is different though, purple and painful on face, cant describe bottom one... just itches like mad... So maybe i'm not celiac - just allergic to some foods??
  18. Hi there, Can anyone tell me what the celiac DH rash looks like?? I have seen so many variety's on the net. Can it vary so much? My rash starts off looking like a mass of red (if really bad) or just red spots if not so bad then changes and looks a bit like the pictures you see of magnified red blood cells, red ish raised oval with white centre also...
  19. Well, colonoscopy done - and guess what - NORMAL, as expected. Had a polyp removed and some biopsies taken - just incase but they will now refer me to a dietician as they think it's IBS... I give up! The fact I only get symptoms and this bloody rash when I eat (pretty much anything and everything) seems to be irrelevant! I'm sure IBS doesn't flare with...
  20. Fab advice, thank you. Have started keeping a diary but as I'm on this stupid diet for my colonoscopy on thursday it might not be that great. Im living off white bread, eggs, cheese and cornflakes!! Will continue the diary until I see dermatologist in mid september and GI in October!
  21. Just wanted to have a whinge as I'm fed up and preparing for my colonoscopy - seems pointless but have to follow dr's orders to get to the GI guys. Oh well...
  22. Hello! I'm married with 3 beautiful children. I was diagnosed with Bechets at 16 and put on medication - Dapsone. For last 2 years I have not taken it due to pregnancy and breast feeding and have started reacting to everything I eat. Dr's are wondering if I was either mis-diagnosed and in fact had Celiac DH or have had it all along, masked by the meds for Bechets...

  23. Ok, I think things may be moving forward. Following a complaint I made regarding my results (still dont have them tho) my Dr has agreed to refer me to a GI Consultant (gastro intestinal?) but still seemed convinced they would not do an endoscopy. He agrees I may have been misdiagnosed with Bechets at 16 and has agreed it's possible the Dapsone I was given...
  24. Ok so I have my test results in front of me, finally after much fighting - with the celiac result missing! In it's place he has put the word negative - his reading. He has tested me for Anti-tissue transglutnase - is this right or should there be more?? He has listed my full blood count but removed the celiac one. I am in the UK - if there are any UK...
  25. I totally agree. I diagnosis would get me food on prescription which would help us financially and also help my family to accept I have it (this is the main reason) although I've gone down hill so quickly I tthink it may be sinking in. The rash I came out in yesterday has gotten worse since - covered in it now. My fault for eating shreddies!
