Kasey'sMom posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Someone had recommended Dr. Prager's Veggie Patties to me. I've tried to do a search on them an I can't find any information. Has anyone tried this product? We have several food allergies so I'm really interested in the ingredients. Thanks!! -
ARCHIVED Tortillas
Kasey'sMom replied to Kasey'sMom's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
My daughter loves bread. A more accurate statement is "she's addicted to bread." I've found that I'm much more particular about my bread. She gobbled up some French Bread that tasted like cardborad to me! I was hoping to by bread from my local food co-op but I don't think they carry the Kinnikinnick brand. I went to my local health food store and found that... -
Hi, Has anyone tried the brown rice tortillas from Food for Life? I looked on their website and I couldn't find out the ingredient list. Also, what bread do you prefer: Food for Life or Ener-g? I've been making bread with Gluten-Free Pantry mixes but with an egg replacer I can't seem to get the bread to rise very much. I thought I might order...

Kasey'sMom replied to Kasey'sMom's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Hi, I was wondering how long it took for you to get the results from York? We're just getting a little anxious about the results. Thanks! -
Thanks for the information. I don't know why I didn't see the Kamut on the list. My child is eating so much rice and corn I was looking for some other sustitutes. I must have system overload not to have seen it! I've always enjoyed cooking but now I'm learning to cook in a different way. We've just found out about some food allergies that make things a little...

Thanks so much for the confirmation. I was hoping I was wrong about the Kamut. I just feel overwhelmed with cooking most everything from scratch and starting out. As I was eating the pancakes I said, "I can't tell the difference between it and wheat." I suspect I'm gluten intolerant but I know my daughter is. What a father's day breakfast...I've spent the...

Hi I made a recipe and used Kamut because it wasn't listed as one of the celiac flours to avoid. However, I read in a book that it contains gluten. Has anyone tried it? Is there anything I can do to help minimize the reaction? Thanks!

ARCHIVED Gf Cake Mixes?
Kasey'sMom replied to Kasey'sMom's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hi, I just got my gluten-free pantry catalog and I never imagined that they had so many products. With the price of the products it's nice to know what works and what is yummy! We're having our first gluten-free birthday party and I was a little nervous but I feel much better knowing that I can make a great cake. My mom picked up a Pamela's brownie... -

ARCHIVED Great Value Ice Cream Cups
Kasey'sMom replied to Kasey'sMom's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Yummy Nisla, I use a Cuisinart ice cream maker. I freeze the bowl before I use it and you don't use the salt or ice. I love my ice cream maker but I really need an extra bowl for big batches. I seem to crave homemad ice cream at this time of the year. Usually my ice cream maker lays dormate during the winter months. I love to make frozen yogurt wtih... -
ARCHIVED Great Value Ice Cream Cups
Kasey'sMom replied to Kasey'sMom's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Nisla, I'm going to fish out my old ice-cream maker. The cookies and cream and cookie dough ideas sound wonderful. I thought about making ice cream sandwitches with vanilla and gluten-free choc. chip cookies. I thought I had tried the Glutino pretzels but it was the seseame pretzels from Ener-g. I think I saw the big bag of Glutino pretzels for $5.... -
ARCHIVED Great Value Ice Cream Cups
Kasey'sMom replied to Kasey'sMom's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Thanks so much for all the wonderful ideas! You all are so creative. She has a birthday coming up so I've been trying to decided what type of cake to do. The choc. chip cookie cake is a really neat idea. I had gotten a little used to baking gluten-free but the last two weeks without eggs has been really challenging. They are having a cake tomorrow so I thought... -

Kasey'sMom replied to a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Hi, I really feel for you, I know you must be worried and about ready to pull your hair out. These are a few things I though of just off the top of my head. Are you giving a good multi-vitamin? Also, we've started adding extra vitamin C. You might also look into giving your child a probiotic that's designed for kids. The omega's are great for brain development... -
ARCHIVED Great Value Ice Cream Cups
Kasey'sMom replied to Kasey'sMom's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Thanks Nisla, I think that's our best bet. I was alittle concerned that there was no phone number to contact the company listed. Also, there were some many ingredients and additives in the ice cream. This is our first major function where my daughter has been around other children eating foods that she can't. So far they've have choc. chip cookies, gold... -
ARCHIVED Great Value Ice Cream Cups
Kasey'sMom replied to Kasey'sMom's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hi, I'm not sure if these are similiar to Hoodies or not. I looked at them last night and they're plastic cups with paper lids. I couldn't find a phone number to contact the company. I called our local Wal-mart and they didn't have any idea. There's an allergy warning on the back for nuts and milk but it doesn't say anything about gluten. My child is also... -

ARCHIVED Tyson Ground Chicken
Kasey'sMom replied to Kasey'sMom's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Thanks, I'm new to gluten-free and I haven't checked all my spices yet. I used a cheap ground sage from the Dollar General and it dosen't have a contact number or any information on it. I think I'll toss it and go for something I know is safe. By the way I contacted Tyson and they said the natural flavoring is from a rosemary. I was pretty sure that... -

Hi, I was wondering if anyone knows if Tyson Ground Chicken is gluten-free or not? The package said that it contained natural flavors, but I couldn't find any information on their website. My child had a reaction after eating today and I'm trying to find the culprit. Thanks for the information. KM -
Hi, Last week I found out that my daughter is also allergic to eggs. I'm trying to go back through all the foods I've been using to make sure that they're also egg free. I've been trying to also convert all my gluten-free baked goods to eggless also. I was wondering if anyone has any resources for food allergies. I would love to locate a product list for...

ARCHIVED A Question About Food Testing
Kasey'sMom replied to goldenmom's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi Heather, I don't have any information on this technique with celiac disease. However, my aunt used the same technique with my hand when I was expecting. She said the ring would tell if I was having a girl or a boy. She swore by the ring and string and said she'd never been wrong. She predicted I'd have a girl and I did.......who knows ? Take Care...
