  1. Terri, You're right! Just so used to saying "flour" now for rice flour, bean flour ect. Funny how quickly things change. Not great for newbie's though......I'll edit.
  2. I found the tortilla maker on overstock for around $47. I'm not usre if this is the cheapest place or not but I might give it a try. For a sweet treat you can brush the gluten free, flour tortilla with oil or butter, cinnamon, and sugar and stevia and broil on both sides. I think the waffles are a great idea. I've been trying to think of lunch box alternatives...
  3. Can you buy the Orgran products at most health food stores or are they something I need to order direct? Merika, I was wondering about Nestle cocoa powder? I've got one can of Nestle in my pantry and it doesn't list anything else. Would you think this is OK? My little one got into soy on Sat. also. She breaks out rather quickly after eating it, and takes...
  4. Thanks ladies, I had wondered about the Rice Chesse I looked at! Developing a casein free cheese would be an awesome idea.
  5. That is funny! I haven't tried it but I can only imagine! I'll be sure and check out the rice cheese. We just found out the our child is senstitive to almonds. I made a recipe from the Gluten Free Pantry webiste today for potato and cauliflower soup. I pureed the cauliflower instead of the potatos and it was really creamy. I used the Vance's DairyFree...
  6. I just wanted to say how helpful this post is. I'm still new to gluten-free and i'm going to print this post out to take shoping!!!! Thanks.
  7. Just wondering if West Soy Rice Drink (Plain & Vanilla) are gluten-free? I went to the West Soy webite but didn't see any info. Thanks
  8. Hi, I haven't much time to reply right now but I'll come back to post later. The food is very expensive. I found a local coop that has saved us lots of money. Our ped. also recommend the coop as a way to meet others that have similar issues. They're several in our group who chose not to eat wheat because of personal issues and other health problems. You can...
  9. Thanks for the ideas. I've got squash growing in my garden which would work great. I've also made pesto without the cheese so this would be a great option. Much healthier than the traditional!
  10. Thanks Merika, I had gotten a book that's called "The Allergy Self Help Cookbook." It just goes over the basics of the diet. I've tried to come up with a couple of meal plans but I have a hard time sticking to it. I think the concept is really neat. Hoepfully, we can get it to work!!!
  11. Hi, I'm looking for a vegan mac & cheese recipe. Does anyone have a cheese sauce that is soy and dairy free. I have a child who loves mac and cheese and it was easy to make when she could still eat diary and soy. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks
  12. Wow Merika, Thanks for the resources. My daughter has so many IGg and IGe food allergies tha just small amounts seem to make a huge reaction. Without getting on a soap box...I'm looking forward to more helpful labels. Just looking for a couple of ingredients wasn't nearly as hard as it is now. I shouldn't have complianed so much. I'll go back over the...
  13. This looks perfect. I think I'm going to try some of the cookie snack packs also, to keep in the car for cookie emergencies. Thanks for the link!
  14. Thanks Merika!!! My birthday is tomorrow and I think my family is having a suprise party for me because they were asking about the cake. These mulitple food allergies are a kicker! We just found about about the newest ones so I'm hoping I'll get the hang of it. I make a muffin that uses flax seed and amaranth and it does help to keep use regular!
  15. I was wondering if anyone is doing food rotation? I've read a couple of books on the technique but was wondering if anyone has any pointers. I'm wanting to do a food rotation with only safe foods. Thanks **Not gluten foods and not the foods that I know I'm allergic to.
  16. I just went to the Kinnikinnick website I noticed that a lot of their products contain eggs. My daughter is allergic to eggs. Does anyone know if any of their breads are egg free? Thanks
  17. Thanks so much for the link. W'eve just went dairy and egg free and the recipes look great!
  18. Hi, I would love to share recipes with you!! We just found out that our child also has dairy, egg and soy allergies. I've been using the Ener-G egg replacer also and have gotten OK results. My box is like Merika's, using more water. I saw the information on the GFP website that you'd mentioned, about the egg replacers and they recommend using less water...
  19. We ate at PF Chang's and my daughter had a reaction. We didn't know it at the time but she has a delayed allergy to garlic. We had been eating and cooking with tons of it. I would have never expected the garlic to be the culprit in the gluten-free meal. Susan, I hope you figure it out. I know it's very frustrating!!! Take Care
  20. Thaks Matilda, I know it's really tough for people with multiple food issues. We're running into the same situtaion with cheese. The rice cheese that I've looked at also have milk protein in it. My daughter loves organic, unsalted butter. She seems to crave it and could eat it all by itself The olive oil idea is great! I had some coconut oil and I didn...
  21. We have gluten, dairy and soy issues. Is there a prduct that dosen't contain these things? I've used a couple of butter substitutes but they have soy in them. Is there such a product? Anyone have any ideas? Thanks
  22. This is such an informative post! We've been doing CF for several months but I tried to introduce dairy back into my daughter's diet too early also. At first she was drinking tons of soy milk, then we started with rice milk and then almond milk. Her food scan came back testing positive for soy beans, diary and almonds. My child improved on a gluten-free...
  23. Hi, We had to switch vitamins also. We have dairy, egg, soy, gluten and nuts issues. I picked up a product from Hero Nutritionals that's called Yummy Bears. We've been using the Mulit. vitamin/mineral. The label says, "Free of: yeast, milk, egg, soy, gluten, salt, artifical colors, artifical flavors, salicylates and preservatives." Hero also has a Calcium...
  24. Mariann, THANK YOU !!!!! I was really worried about the ingredients. I seem to do fine with oat bran but my daughter doesn't. You've saved me a ton...... Take care
  25. Thanks everyone. So far we seem to be doing well with corn so I thik I'll go that route. Is Mission a brand that you can get a local suppermarket or do I need to look at a health food store? I made some quinoa wraps in a non stick skillet but I couldn't get them thin enough. A tortilla press sounds like a great idea! I would love to have some wraps for quesadillas...
