  1. Thanks Elonwy! They look awesome. My dd is 3 and she really wants one. My mohter bought her an orange one the other day and she was so exicted. Didn't matter to her that it didn't have any words on it! How long did it take for you to get them?
  2. Julie, I remember how crummy that feeling is..... I was not gluten-free at the time but I took Emetrol (over the counter.) I've also taken Little Tummys, Nausea Relief. You might want to check on these. I'm not sure if either are gluten-free. I really like ginger tea for nausea. I love Alvita Ginger Root because it dosen't have any additional ingredients...
  3. Hi, I'm looking for silicon bracelets that promote gluten-free, Celiac etc. Has anyone purchased any? Thanks
  4. Just wondering if the SweetLeaf liquid stevia flavors are gluten-free?
  5. I'm starting to get interested in buying my grains in bulk and grinding them myself. Do any of you grinding your own grains and what do you use to grind with? Thanks
  6. Cool, I was wondering how the Glee gum was. I've never been a diet soda drinker but I started drinking Pepsi one for I few days and I felt really yucky. I started getting really bad headaches. I since went to the other end of the spectrum and I tried the organic soda from Blue Sky and I like it a lot.
  7. Thanks Matlida! I just came up with the "cheese" base for the broccoli and "cheese." I'll post the actual recipe next time I make it. I have used the base for all sorts of dishes including potato soup and cream of broccoli soup. For the potato soup, I use steamed & pureed cauliflower to add to the creaminess of the soup. I then add the diced potatos...
  8. You might try to check and see if there's a support group in your area. There may be someone who could help you find a Dr. that could treat you. As well as people to answer questions and give you ideas about gluten-free shopping in your area. I hope you start feeling better.
  9. I didn't realize until recently that most corn syrups are genetically modified. Is this right Stephanie? One of my friends was trying to educated me on maple syrup the other day. I remember her also mentioning something about the processing of 100% maple syrup compared to the organic variety. I didn't realize until I looked in my food co-op book that they...
  10. Merika, I know it stinks when you find something they love and then can't use it. Seems like I have to do the same thing quite often. Maybe you'll figure things out before his birthday. I tried to do a little research on chicory. Because chicory is a fiber, it can have a laxitative effect. I have also seen a few documented cases of allergic reactions...
  11. I like Applegate farms turey bacon.
  12. Merika, I really hate to hear this happened. I hope the two of you start feeling better soon. I haven't tried the mix yet but I read the lable in the store yesterday. I had also seen the sticker lables on the brownie mix. That's such a shame because I find her products to be very good. If I end up trying the mix and I'll let you know how it goes. Right...
  13. Tiffany, This sounds so good. I picked up a raw snack bar from the grocery store. I think it was by ThinkOrganic. The flavor was chocolate coconut made with dates and nuts. I paid $1.49 on sale and now I can't wait to try this recipe! Thanks for sharing with everyone.
  14. Yes this does help. My dad has classic celiac disease symptoms but his panel was negative. I think I convinced him to do the gene test since several others on his side of the family have it. My mother may get tested as well because she has un-explained pain etc. My mother-in law also has classic symptoms but I'm not sure she would ever commit to the gluten...
  15. Sometimes I use coconut oil/butter in its solid state. I substitute the coconut oil anytime a recipe calls for butter or veggie shortening. I've used the oil in pie crusts, pastry and some other baked goods. We use EVOO for our potatos and veggies!!
  16. Thanks for the information. I was really confused after my dd appointment yesterday. From what I've read the celiac disease does not follow the "typical" recessive gene pattern and can be passed on be mother and/or father. The gene can be from both sides of the family, but it's not required. Does this sound correct?
  17. Bless her heart! We dealt a lot with severe diaper rash with my dd as well. Going gluten-free helped as well as eliminating her other food intolerances and allergens. We've seen several Dr.'s and they've had very similiar approaches. They all have recommend a barrier such as a thick layer of Vasoline to prevent her bottom from getting wet. We stopped using...
  18. Computer was doing something weird!
  19. Hi, I'm trying to get some information in how celiac disease runs in families. My dd has celiac disease and I just found out that I have celiac disease. My father and his mother have both been tested and had negative tests. I have two cousins on my father's side the have celiac disease as well. My mother has not been tested yet and my husband and his...
  20. You might want to check out The Dermatitis Herpetiformis Online Community. The web address is www.dermatitisherpetiformis.org.uk They have lots of information about DH including the celiac disease connection , pictures, cases studies etc. Hope this helps!
  21. Lauren, I checked out their website and it looks like so much fun. I would love to hear how your trip was when you returen. Have a great, worry free time!
  22. Carriefaith, Hummm my dd hasn't had flax seed in a while because she kept reacting to it. I though maybe she was allergic to flax. The brand of flas was Bob's Red Mill. I read a post that some of their products are done in a dedicated area and some are not. Does anyone know for sure about Bob's? Thanks!
  23. I had a neurologist who tested me for West Nile. I think the symptoms of the virus can mimic neurological diseases. You might want to see if your Dr. could run the blood test just to make sure. In the early stages of West Nile, I think it responds really well to high power anti-biotics. Last summer I discussed Fibro with my Dr. when we were trying to...
  24. bobcatgirl, I don't do well with fermented products and I use the liquid aminos as well. A couple of my friends say it tastes like beef bullion but I like it. Bragg's make apple cider vinegar that I love. Here's the website: Open Original Shared Link
  25. Hi, I wanted to laminate some homemade placemates for my dd but I was wondering if I needed to worry about the adhesive? Thanks!
